    Nice looking Claas setup. A typical setup for here in the UK. The V conditioners are the best for alfalfa and you will find that in a dry crop you will get much leaf shatter for hay. The roller conditioners are much better for alfalfa hay. However in a rye grass crop the V conditioners are untouchable, and likewise with any grass sileage crop.

    Entertaining show Trevor, watching you in the squeeze makes you realize how you take thing's for granted, you use five levers with your right hand, steering in different directions with your left and probably using both feet on pedals all within a split second of each other. Keep up the good work Trevor.

    I occasionally take my bale wagon to lunch. Mildly amusing to see it in the shopping center lot while I make a run for the border 😂

    Most large dairies (500+ cows) here in Wisconsin use multiple triple-mowers to cut their winter triticale or rye, 5-7 crops of alfalfa and some winter wheat. Most merge with large mergers, chop with very large Claas or JD harvesters into semis or large trucks and pack in huge piles.

    They call them flail crimpers up here in Minny-sota,don't see them very often, mostly rubber or steel roller crimpers now days.

    I mentioned a few years ago that you should get some of those mowers. Hay dries quick and you can rake it later to what configuration you want, you can split the raking however you want. Of course, you have to do what’s best for you.

    why is American equipment so antiquated ? i just don't understand why they haven't gone forward with grass science and technology ? I think they could learn so much from Europe that would increase productivity.
    Those mowers are state of the art, the truck would have been loaded far better with a telehandler ?

    • @BalesHayFarmandRanch
      @BalesHayFarmandRanch  5 месяцев назад +2

      Unfortunately, I think you are wrong on this specific thing. Yes Europe has better technology on many things. In this case, a telehandler would have to be loaded up on a flatbed trailer and then hauled by another semi, and then load at similar to slower speeds. Instead of hauling a telehandler around, we drive this machine at 120 KPH. You might say, haul the telehandler and hay on the same trailer. But then I’m over weight. Or I’m not maximizing the hay on the trailer. I do agree that some things are more advanced, in this instance, I disagree with you.

    little disappointed.. I was HOPING Mr. Bales would do a pros and con in this video.. As an irrigated grower up north who rents out but thinking of doing it myself.. I have often times wondered why we are not adopting the triple row mowers.. Seems to me 36 feet versus 16 would be faster, less labor, and just as consistent of windrows as a 16 foot Massey.. Granted 12 foot windrows versus 16 but still..

    • @BalesHayFarmandRanch
      @BalesHayFarmandRanch  5 месяцев назад +2

      It’s a bit of a long explanation. If you have irrigated borders and the distance between borders, and the different fields you have. The border width isn’t always the same. What size rakes you have. If you run mergers. If you are baling or chopping. If you are on dry land or pivot or sub surface drip. Or big baling or small baling. It all plays into whether or not you’d run one.

      Thank you!! That was my question too… you tie up a tractor but when mowing season is over… you do have an another versatile piece of equipment…where as a swather just waits to mow(ie a combine)… but just comparing $$ …. Is the triple mowers and tractor more $$ than 2 swathers ? (Also I do realize in AZ you mow a LOT😎🤑😜)

    • @BalesHayFarmandRanch
      @BalesHayFarmandRanch  5 месяцев назад +2

      @@HootakaBJ that’s the other thing. We mow February- December some years. That means we couldn’t share the mowing tractor. These mowers never come off.
      In other places, you are 100% correct. You could use the tractor for something else.

      @@BalesHayFarmandRanch I can see application would play a crucial role... But biggest concern/question/hope was "does it work" having 36 feet hanging down?? Application here is center pivots (so distance between towers) but topographical (not perfectly flat but up and down) and we've got rocks (but have them hidden regardless of head size)... So I was hoping to see maybe a little side by side comparisons and pros and cons would have been interesting to watch..
      But the flails were interesting and can only guess they are for cutting silage applications only..
      Maybe when you have a free day a side by side comparison along with pros and cons might be a fun video...

      Hi! Welcome!! First we drill winter Rye grass into an older (3 to 4 years) stand. After the rye dies out in the late spring, we plant Sudan grass. We harvest it once or twice, then grow it up 6 to 7 feet tall, and disc it under. Some years we grow wheat or triticale.

    Mini videos ago you said you was looking for a different kind of mower I suggested a triple mower. You said they didn't work on your land. I got to thinking I wouldn't know why. we use them and we got rocks in our ground is not level like yours. Now when I say rocks I don't mean just a little rocks laying on the ground. I mean big rocks sticking up out of the ground. A lot of them is hidden under the hay
    Thanks for sharing with us

      It has more to do with the hay rakes and our boarders for irrigation. The custom green chop crew is different. They don’t require the same consistency we need.

Right hand is up/down. Tilt forward/reverse side shift left/right. The left fork open/close and right fork open/close.
