    I'm glad you are planning to do more IBEX videos. It's really too bad that these drum mowers are designed to mow so low to the ground. Not only can it be unforgiving for those undulations as you saw but it's really just not good for your soil to not leave at least a few inches of standing forage to shade the dirt. They do make a 'lift kit' for this purpose but I've not tried it on mine. Hope you finally got the crunch out of your mouth from the dirt bath! Keep up the great work on the vids. PS - TractorToolsDirect does have good service. I have the mower/rake/mini-baler package.

      The drum mower cuts too close to the ground. I believe the grasses and legumes should be cut no lower than 4 inches off the ground . This provides for better regrowth .

    To extend your top link. You can set up the bottom of your top link in 3rd hole up on your axle. The top position, top hole. Maybe, you will not like the change in the pivot point though.

    Brad, good video. But you didn't mention gophers and red ant mounds. I can't mow our fields without hitting one of these every 50 -100 feet. Plus the cows churn up the ground when it is muddy.
    But if you got the land smooth before the growing season you would have better luck.

    • @PineyGroveHomestead
      @PineyGroveHomestead  7 месяцев назад

      These drum mowers are becoming more common so I guess they can take a beating! We don't have gophers, but we do have ant hills! A farmer I know drags his pastures to smooth out the cow patties and ant hills!

      540. When you engage the PTO, raise it off the ground, otherwise it may stall the tractor until reaching optimal rotations

    European rotary mowers follow the terrain better. Just type in RUclips, e.g. Koszenie trawy C-360 kosiarką rotacyjną 1.85m . 8:14 the screw connecting the tractor and the mower should be unscrewed to such an extent that it should have slight play . This ensures that the discs will lie flat on the ground and the grass will be mowed at a height of 1 3/4 inches (approximately 4 centimeters). There is an unwritten rule on how to check whether the mower discs are completely on the ground. Just drive two yards forward and two yards back in the new swath. In both cases, the height of the cut grass from the ground should be the same, and if it is different, the mower is incorrectly set. Never mow backwards because if the mower hits an obstacle, it will break because the safety device when driving backwards does not work. Always wear the yellow safety cover to avoid being hit by an object thrown from under the mower . In Poland, for a 90 HP tractor, there is a rotary mower with 4 drums, with a mowing width of 250 centimeters, i.e. about 2.6 yards. Then, driving the tractor at 6 miles per hour, we mow 6 acres of grass in an hour
