    that setup with the cutouts is EXACTLY what I want to do to my 68 chevelle. open the cutouts and its basically open headers with extensions like the drag racers run, then close them and have a nice chambered muffler sound with an H pipe crossover to tame it down for cruising!
    Also that van he has looks sweet. My brother is building one like that too

    • @SubdivisionAuto
      @SubdivisionAuto  7 месяцев назад

      Oh yeah man It works well. I've seen Bruce many times and it's awesome when he opens the header dumps. Plus he removes all the other seats puts the tuner mufflers on and races. You'll see more EPs with this car soon March 8th there is a huge race ep and this car is one of the main cars.

      Thank you for the kind words guys. Bruce is truly one of those people you are blessed to meet in life. Not only is he an amazing car builder but he's such a great person too. When I first met him we spoke for several hours at his garage and he was not only extremely knowledgeable but willing to offer advice. I told him about my own personal quest with the Nova and he gave me so many tips and tricks... even though he just met me. I think that goes pretty far and says a lot about a guy. Honoured to have been able to share his wonderful story and the same with Ross and Henry's. Truly blessed.

    It's a wonderful feeling, seeing somebody so close to myself. I am 62 and have a 67 El Camino with a 632cc big block. Its N/A and does not have nitrous or turbos., It makes 1182 hp and 910 lbs of torque. I did a summer worth of bodywork. The following summer I did a 4linkin and full roll cage. I have a odd transmission. Art Carr build a 1000 hp R100 4 speed. I can run on the drag strip in the mid 8s. and on the freeway at 75mph+ at 2200rpm. When you get older it is great having something to be passionate about. Cheers!

    Cheatha used to come to Clayton and Syracuse car shows. Haven's seen that car in about 10 years. I always wondered what happened to the car and him. Glad he's still got it and having fun. Last time I saw it he had the 427. He told me, at the time, that every year he puts a new set of 285/70/15s on the back. If you see this we would love to see you back at the Syracuse Nationals or any Upstate NY car shows. Cheers my friend

    I love the 68 Chevelle, regardless of it being a SS396 or Malibu. You know all the parts interchange perfectly, but the car that I could kick myself over was a 68 Malibu that came factory with a hp 327ci,and had bucket seats, console and a 12 bolt rearend. And I could have owned it for 3500 bucks back then . I own both, a 68 SS396 car "138" vin number, and My 68 Malibu that I have owned since 1979,and if I have to sell one of them I will sell the SS car and keep my Malibu that was cloned way back when, but is currently getting any SS badging taken off and a aftermarket cowl hood put back in its place.

However I wanted to know whether the outlet side of the pump, i.e. the hose, also transmits the vibration from the pump rotor so strongly? Well, I previously had a simple Holley pump and wanted to install something classy. But the Aeromotive is quite loud.

    So, you basically took a Malibu and re-badged it. Though many people do that, it doesn't make it an SS. Nice car, but it is what it is a Malibu. I had a true 69 SS and never heard of anyone ever referring to any Chevelle as having 3 names. That's a new one.

      Wow, big deal, the SS option was just a trim option with a few suspension upgrades, and the trim differences were subject to be different depending on which plant the car came out of. You anal guys about whether or not it's a TRUE SS are really hilarious when you are talking about a 50+ year old hotrod, that by the nature of a hotrod is going to be changed to suit the owner at that moment. Hey, the people at Pebble Beach called and said to get your perfect concourse car right on up there. Give it a rest.

      Pretty easy to tell that the guy wasn't trying to pass it off as a SS car. It's a Chevelle, and what do you know, all the SS equipment fits perfectly. When you turn a factory SS into a street strip car all that stuff doesn't really matter. People are obsessed with that SS label, and try to cut it down for some reason. I have had somewhere around 20 true SS cars and I have a 1968 SS396 "138" ,but my 68 Malibu is without a doubt my favorite and always has been. I've had it since 1979 and cloned it, but I'm currently restoring it, and taking anything SS off of it because people look at the vin number and say aw,who does he think he's fooling. I've heard all that, and now they can accept it for what it is or walk across the street and look at that Volkswagen Beatle they've always dreamed of owning.

    840HP out of a (solid roller) 540ci is believable, 1100FTlbs of torque tho?
    no Turbo or supercharger? that thing would have to have 15:1 compression
    ALL DAY with an 86mm turbski spinning 1200HP to turn 1100ftlbs torque numbers.
    no brake stands needed! A friend of mine built a (solid roller) 632ci 69 SS Chevelle
    990 RWHP! (the best of everything), that only produced 800ftlbs of torque
    @ 13:1 on 108+ fuel! it's a beautiful Chevelle, I have a (real barrel tach) 68 SS Chevelle 4spd
    with a punched out 10.7:1 496 Stroker putting 620ftlbs to the ground, so I appreciate this car.

    The "3 names" is kinda funny. Wasn't there the base model Chevelle 300, then the Malibu, with various trim options within that level, and then the SS, with various trim options within that? They were all a Chevelle. You could have an SS, plain looking no stripes sedan with bench seat and column shift auto, with crankdowns or it could be like a loaded Malibu optioned up SS hardtop with buckets, console, pwr windows, stripes, different transmissions, with or without F41 suspension, with or without the special hood, and on and on. If someone is not being judged at a concours all original show, after 50+ years, who cares if it was an "original SS" or whatever. Get a life move on. It's a hotrod, by nature they are not left original or stock. As an example this car was not stock in hardly any way when he got it in high-school way back when. It looked cool then, its a trick hotrod now.

    • @SubdivisionAuto
      @SubdivisionAuto  9 месяцев назад

      You are right. Here is the thing about SS, and this is my take on things after filming quite a few SS and none SS cars. What the value of SS (monetary) is vs the performance is extremely in 68 vs 2023. Back then SS got you features, there was no aftermarket like we have now. So having SS cars gave you SS features which gave performance and was worth the money. Having things like disc brakes in the front, or a 12 bolt, or upgraded suspension etec etc. Now SS is not performance because any of those parts from back in the day are worse than anything on the aftermarket now. Take Bruce's Chevelle or his 65 Impala (which there is an episode for) both none SS cars just look like SS cars. But they perform WAAAAY better than any SS car ever did in the 60s. So now when your buying a true "SS" car you are really only paying for the VIN. If you are a collector thats cool I get that but as a normal guy its worth doing what bruce did. I am doing the same thing on our 72 Nova... we bought a shell and doing all modern. THanks for your comment
