Amazing Day In Wrocław, Poland! (Travel Guide)

  • We spent the day exploring Wrocław, a city in Poland with a notoriously difficult name to pronounce! Despite the tricky name, we had a great day and loved the colorful city center. We went kayaking on the Oder River, explored Market Square, ate at a Milk Bar, then took in all the sights on Cathedral Island.
At the end of our day, we ended up being forced back into our Airbnb by gross weather. BUT not before we managed to get our hands on a delicious slice of Oreo Cake. Overall, it was a great day :)
Thanks so much for watching! Don’t forget to like and subscribe :)

    1. Central Europe. Keep in mind if you ever visit Czechia or Slovakia. We don't like that. ;)
    2. Try some local beers. Good vodkas as well, but that's something a local should show you. It's more complicated than it seems. :D
    3. Your pronunciation is spot on. :)
Have fun. Great city, I moved here a couple of months ago and I still can't stop be amazed.

Here in Tecate you know it's a small town here in Baja so we don't have too many places here to eat BUT I know the best places to taste for tacos. And if you prefer a better option there's Tijuana. Anyway, let me know guys if you will come here.

Dwarfs are no accident in Wroclaw. This is the tribute to the Orange Alternative. The Orange Alternative was an anti-communist youth movement. They made fun of communism. Their sign was a dwarf. ruclips.net/video/Hk3a_0km74A/видео.html ruclips.net/video/qZLtrytBi1s/видео.html The history of Milk Bars is older. The first typical milk bar "Mleczarnia Nadświdrzańska" was established in 1896 in Warsaw by Stanisław Dłużewski, a member of Polish landed gentry. Although the typical bar mleczny had a menu based on dairy items, these establishments generally also served other, non-dairy traditional Polish dishes as well. They offered relatively cheap but nourishing food, and as such achieved even more prominence during the economic depression in the 1930s. The role of cheap restaurants carried through World War II. After the fall of German Nazi regime, Poland became a communist state, and a satellite of the Soviet Union. The majority of the population was poor, contrary to official propaganda, and expensive and even moderately-priced restaurants were derided as "capitalist". During the post-war years, most restaurants were nationalized and then closed down by the communist authorities. In the mid-1960s milk bars were common as a means of offering cheap meals to people working in companies that had no official canteen. They still served mostly dairy-based and vegetarian meals, especially during the period of martial law in the early 1980s, when meat was rationed. In early 2010 milk bars were seen to make a comeback. They became small, inexpensive restaurants that took advantage of welfare state nostalgia, while providing good quality food and customer service. Due to their good locations, milk bars often fall victim to gentrification processes and are defended by protest groups.

I dont get why people so offended by being called "Eastern Europe". Obviously Eastern Europe is term that is being used culturaly for countries that had similar history. Why would you hide away from that??? (Im Lithuanian btw and I think its rude to keep telling not to call countries for what they are. When we think eastern europe poland is one of the first that comes to mind. I would recommend to rethink the term and instead of pushing against, adopt it and be proud of it!!!!
Like Lithuania geographically North Europe, but obviously when people say north europe often they mean eco social status. Im in no way offended being called eastern europian!!! Why would I be??? Its just shows that people that are offended have low self worth and being called that way triggeres them in some way. So rethink that, and dont get offended by words. And be nice!!!:)

    • @slaw1848
      @slaw1848 5 лет назад
