the way that was done was sketchy as hell, ive been diving on and off for 13 years and the first thing i was taught was dive planning, i saw no dive planning at all, to include no Nitrox, or emergency air or re breather, no emergency planning, i highly doubt many or any of them are actually certified for cave diving or exploration. all it would have taken was for him to freak out and get knocked out and that would have been much much worse.
If we wanted to watch professionals we wouldn't be watching this RUclips channel😊
Matt, I hate getting lawyers involved in stuff but in this rare case, I think you should talk to one about liability if one of your guests gets hurt. Even if they're cool, their next of kin may not be so cool while they're grieving. Also you might want to reach out to your local EMS and Fire/Rescue to see exactly what they're willing and able to do.
I can guarantee you waivers were signed
They do have other caves in the locality, so I'm quite sure EMS/FIRE/ RESCUE can handle it. It's worth mentioning that Matt runs multiple businesses (he's no David Dobrick). They know what they are doing. I's dotted, t's crossed etc.
He's a lot more educated and smarter than his videos show 😂
That stuff doesn't make it in the video because it's boring. Of course he has all that covered.
@@D-blaze I'm willing to bet that ZERO waivers of anykind were signed.
Great Time 😊 thanks Matt we love hanging out with you on the ranch.
Way back in the olden days (the 70’s) a bunch of us would go exploring caves in our home state of Missouri. There are literally 1000’s in Missouri. I’d crawl through holes like this that would open up into a massively huge cavern. Sometimes with lakes sometimes just a big mud pit. I really don’t recall being nervous or freaking out. Now I’m watching this and wondering how did I do that. 😂. .
I'm surprised you didn't try pumping some of the water out of the cave
Thanks for going out there! Can’t wait to check your videos out!
Good job guys. You tried you're best
Come see my families cave in San Marcos!!
If it weren't for cameras and crazy people, I'd never get to see inside of caves like these because there is no way in hell I'd be crawling in there. Thanks for sharing these adventures guys.
Man gives me anxiety for sure
I just became claustrophobic watching this video
@@b33fie I freaked out as much as the guy who almost drowned lol
I don't know that I can watch this episode, my claustrophobia is over the top just at the title and first 30 seconds.
@@airenesmiler6624 ya it’s pretty bad but I had to watch it
I used to be a saturation diver in Germany. Diving in caves, even with the best equipment, is one of the most dangerous things you can do
These people seem to have no idea how dangerous this stuff is
100% it's exceptionally dangerous, right up there with base jumping and hang gliding. They need to just rent an 8"-10" pump and pump all that water out. Then set up a large blower fan with a long/fat flexible exhaust hose on it for ventilation.
That last part was seriously scary, he said he was inhaling water? It doesn't take much. Best case scenario, you have to drag him all the way out just to start resuscitating him. A family friend died cave diving in Costa Rica and by the time anyone realized anything was wrong he was gone. They never even recovered him.
Obviously that's a much smaller cave but either way cave diving is exceptionally dangerous.
@@SaltNBatteryive been commenting to just run a pump for a few days and water will drop at least a foot. will make the “swim” easier. hell it might drain alot more
Scary but funny too.
unless theres a natural spring feeding it@@iPanda310
I love Mikey's energy. He's the ultimate hype man!
I don't think anyone realises how dangerous this is. A perfect representation of how quick things can take a turn for the worst
all people who watched this video do in fact know how dangerous this was..
Yup only you
lucky nobody thought like you when exploring the world coz nothing would of been discovered due to health and safety..
It was an absolutely imperfect representation of how quickly things might take a turn for the worst. Because it didn't. I was on a bus the other day and if it had driven into the sea it would be dangerous but it didn't and it wasn't. Beware the next time you go to get some stuff from a shop.
@@JAMSARTCHANNELhow do you think pros become pros in these situations? By DOING IT! They do dumb, dangerous things and survive them and learn for the next time 😂
Funny seeing Matt outside his comfort zone. “Y’all are crazy” x 100, haha. That nervous laughter is hilarious.
And I felt every one
Power to him I wouldn't drop in that cave I'd start having a panic attack lol
So did I. It was intense. There’s no no way I’d go in that cave, completely agree!
We need more uncut footage of Matt doing things out of his comfort zone
I have an uncut caving channel that will have what your looking for
Hell no I’m getting sick just watching this hell no
Completely out of my comfort zone....that is for sure with the cave diving stuff
I agree! ❤you matt you're the best!
Not like this, this was super dangerous and I think Matt was under the assumption that these kids knew what they were doing. They didn't. That could have been a really bad situation. He just needs to pump the water out and set up a big blower fan with a flexible exhaust pipe for ventilation. Trying to underwater cave dive in that thing is suicide. Not to mention a massive liability when he has guests, some little kid or drunk person is going to die down there and their family is going to sue the place out from under him.
You can tell matt is nervous and thinks this is a terrible idea lol
I think Matt needs to grab a decent size pump and drain the water out of there so they can explore further, if it's not connected to the water table
Because it is. Cave exploring is fun and almost anyone can do it. BUT once you try and dive in a cave, it becomes deadly. Especially if you are not trained and have proper gear. Never free dive a cave. One second it can be clear but one wrong move and the whole passage can silt out. once that occurs you are doomed. there is no way to tell which way you came from. you will panic, bump into walls and run out of air. could even be 3 feet from the exit. Happens all too often.
He clearly thought these kids knew what they were doing and quickly realized they were just dudes who bought some stuff on Amazon and started making videos. None of this was safe and I hope if he ever does anything like this again, he finds people who actually know what they're doing and aren't a danger to themselves and others.
@@SaltNBatteryso much for the professional cave divers he wanted lol
Matt, you. Struck. GOLD. With this property!!! How amazing is it to have a resort, with hiking trails, a BEAUTIFUL river, AND cave systems! Wow. Super happy for you man! (I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t jealous)
Thank you for reaching out to these guys ! It was great content for the cave experience
That was way too close of a call down there! We had to get the heck out!
Thanks for playing in guys. Caving is one thing. With water, a whole different game.
I’m so glad you guys are okay! Thank you for your bravery!
I hope it was also a learning experience. Get yourself on a cave diving and certification course, some proper gear, and you'll hopefully have fewer close calls. Also think about how useful a snorkel might be in an unknown or badly charted sump or syphon when the water is up to the ceiling, and you have no way of knowing what the air quality will be if you manage to make it to the other side on a breath hold. There's a few caves around Texas pretty notorious for HS, and if you surface into a pocket of that, it really won't end well.
I Love you Guys and the mineral guy, you are all Awesome..!
I totally relate to Matt's nervous laugh. In some situations you laugh or cry. Crying makes it hard to see, so laughing is the better way to go.
Matt, thank you for being an overachieving every day man. Not a superman but also not afraid of a challenge. Friend of animals and land. Humorous and self depricating when appropriate. Family man. Your content is top notch and as a fellow Texan I hope what we see is true. Keep on building on.

@@UncutCaving man, I wouldn't waste my time with that dude. I doubt he's been in a cave before. No one can claim you're inexperienced with over 100 miles of cave exploration filmed and posted to your channels. They're just jealous your job is cooler than theirs.

Holy crap
😮
You’re the man Matt
Holy sh*t I'm having a panic attack just watching them in the first few minutes down there... I had to pause it to catch my breath. Thanks, Matt, for saving me thousands of dollars on therapy to figure out I'm claustrophobic! I'm legit freaked out right now, and I'm a Marine - nothing scares me... nothing but this stuff. Geeez. **twitch**
From one Marine to another, AGREED! A big NOPE. Just UCMJ me right now! LOL
@@mscdorman SFMF! Same here brother. Just charge my account whatever fines it's gonna be, pull off a chevron if ya gotta. Not gonna do it. That's a big steaming pile of Fucknope.

Agreed@@mscdorman . Semper F...rigging no way in Hell! Give me a walk-in cave or I'm not going lol. And you can't court martial me anymore, the UCMJ no longer applies to me.
I used to cave and climb when I was young and had no problem with tight spaces or heights but now I have problems watching things like this and I'm now extremely claustrophobic.
I went into a cave in the Ardennes in Belgium about 40 years ago. It was a rabbit hole we had to enter through, like this but more horizontal. I remember wondering if I would be able to get out again, it was so narrow and tight. It felt like there was 60 feet of soil on top of me. I found out two things that day: a human being is able to push through openings that you’d think your cat wouldn’t get through and that I would never ever enter a cave like that again. And I haven’t the past 40 years. 😅
I went in a cave that was very very open compared to these ones and were lit with handrailing etc and only a few narrowish areas even the fat peoole could get through. And there was people still having panic attacks 😂
And Matt is a muscular dude, those young folk were very thin. I was surprised Matt followed through. The sheer thought of going in that tiny hole, to another tiny hole was scary enough, then the cracks they shimmied through, ugh, no thanks. Sounds like what you did. Now you can say at least you did it!😊
Good to see your brother at the end of the video. Hope his family is well!
He could have chosen a different silly insult that was still hilarious yet tasteful at the same time. Dudes acting like they don't know any gay people in 2023.
Dude I didn't even know I was this claustrophobic before watching this episode. Man.. You're a beast, honestly. Doing this totally outside your comfort zone - you inspire us! Thanks for being who you are, brother.

Same !!!
Mikey is such a funny guy! Great addition to the family! ❤
I fully agree. When he flips his shirt over his head and starts running, I lose it!
"shark attack"
The fact that Matt has been blasting on his property in the past few weeks makes these caving videos that much more suspenseful
Underwater cave divers tie ropes when they go scuba diving so theres theres a chance it wont always open up into breathable air. It could go forever you never know. A robot would be nice

This has to be one of the COOLEST things you have ever done on this channel! You need to have all these boys out for like a week every year doing events!
Mike Young is the best cave explorer in the world! He’s friends with a diving podcast channel called “Dive Talk” and they explore with Mike some times. Their names are Woody and Gus!
Yeah I was hoping dive talk were the guys who Matt got to help out. Woody is a trip
That situation developed in just a second. A good demo of why you don't go cave diving without proper training and gear.
NGL, Matt was much more in danger with these guys than he was alone...
@@Ranstone Agreed
@@Ranstonethey give off more adrenaline junkies than professionals lol
Yeah the tight congo line was a bad idea, disturbing the water made others unable to breath, if they had also lost it someone was drowning and potentially dying there.
No need for gear and the time spent in the caves is essentially training. It's so much better in my opinion without "proper training"
That's what exploration is all about
I Love the Action Adventure Twins, was watching them before Matt. I think It is Absolutely Awesome they all linked up,lol would have never thunk It..!
Been watching some of your videos and decided you earned my subscribe when you went into that tight cave series of tunnels. Wow! I totally could not do that. Respect!
He's a very brave man. 😊
Thanks for these videos. It’s been reminding us of our Nutty Putty cave that we used to enjoy while growing up. We were so ignorant of its potential dangers. I’m glad to see you’re taking precautions and raising awareness.
One thing I can say is OffTheRanch is never boring
I really need to thank you again for bringing vise grip in I love Derek I love his family and thank you Matt.
I’m glad to see you never stopped creating amazing content
It's been 15 years since I've been inside a cave. Before that, I was a hardcore EMT caver, certified in cave rescue, vertical rescue, and advanced single rope rescue. Watching this video sure brings back some fond memories of caving and repelling. Combining the two and rappelling inside of a cave was my absolute most favorite thing to do. It also makes me think about some of the techniques needed if Matt or one of the guys were to get injured and need rescue. Oh the good old days!
We as TAG caver learn alot of 3 man rescue. And a lot of prep went into preparing the cave for Matt to not only learn how to repel but be safe while doing so.
Hell yes for action adventure twins, ive been watching these guys for years and they are pros!!!! Also, all you're channels are fire. Just saying.
Matt you really need dive talk or someone like them to go in and film rest of cave and explore. They are solid cave divers that use rebreathers and can get some footage before the place gets silted out.
Yep, the dive talk guys would be awesome
It doesn't look like a person could fit through there with any gear on.
It's too tight and too sharp for a rebreather or a normal SCUBA rig. They need to just rent a 10" pump and pump it all out. Set up a big blower fan with a long/fat flexible exhaust hose on it and ventilate the hell out of it.
Either way, he needs to find experts. I think he thought these kids were but they were just dudes who bought some gear on Amazon and started making GoPro videos. I just looked at their channel. Extremely reckless and a danger to themselves/others.
@@James-vn8zb No mount cave diving
@@Ammoniummetavanadate Do you mean when they have a tank, but push it in front of them? I've seen it, but idk all the terminology. I'm still thinking a rebreather wouldn't fit through. I only have a super basic dive certification.
That looked hard Matt! Impressed
Get dive talk out there they are great cave diver would be sooo fun
You need to get Dive Talk to do the underwater cave portion. They are real cave divers
I’m pretty sure they pumped the water out now.
@@frankm3204 if the water is coming from a aquifer there is no way that will even make a difference. That cave could run for miles. You could pump for weeks and never see a difference.
Oh my gosh I could have passed out seeing what you came down into!! my stomach started hurting as you continued down your cave!! I can't believe we used to climb thru caves as children!! we did find a cool cave looking for our pregnant cow...she was hiding her new born. We blamed our long day looking for the calf. Really we got our little brother stuck...pushed him thru to the other side...he turned around coming out hands first. We must have pulled his shoulder out of the socket as he was in terrible pain. He tripped over a rock on our walk home into a pile of rock...came out saying his shoulder was ok now.

The end clip was the best part lol. 😂
It’s so dumb they demonetized this video!! If anything it teaches you that even with experienced explorers it can be dangerous and you should never attempt yourself. This was very educational and awesome. RUclips needs to rethink this and monetize this video.
YT will demonetize videos for the absolute dumbest reasons. Kinda like how they hide/delete totally innocuous comments.
Maybe it was the line @39:33? RUclips isn't exactly known for tolerating things that could be interpreted as bigotry... It's 2023, the world sort of expects us to find other ways to rib each other that don't involve accusing one another of being a homosexual, even if people believe it's in good fun.

In the previous video they left a comment stating their interest in wanting to explore this cave but felt that because Matt had already said he already would be exploring the cave with some experts in the following episode (this episode) that he had already found someone to explore with.
