keep the sheep! Those sheep/goats r the best thing to prevent or reduce wild fires! All they do is eat, that reduces dry brush and grass that will burn in a wild fire. Sure repairing the fence line will be costly but not as costly as rebuilding the resort after it burns down from a wild fire.
Hire some sheep ranglers with herding dogs to round all those sheep up. Maybe rebuild the pen so they don't keep escaping. Love these videos. Always something exciting going on.

Don't chase the sheep, walk them. When you go at them really fast with loud machines they will panic and run. You need to walk them and expand the opening on both sides to guide them in.

Hey Matt, my dad was a vet for years and we had to chase pur fair share of sheep. We always tried to create some kind of run. I might try putting up a quick fence that runs right to the gate you want them in so you can run them down the fence line rather trying to herd 100 sheep into a 4 foot fence.
Get a few rolls of the orange constructions fence and some poles and make your self a chase fence. It can help block a large section while you chase them into the pen. Big have circles work well, because once they get past one section and try to turn back the next section will make it look blocked off.
Hey Matt a way you could gather all your goats is put a tracker on one and always leave him out. Then when he finds more because it’s their instinct, round up all his buddies and leave him out. Keep doing that till your all done. Hope this helps!

I was thinking they take those currently captive sheep, feed and water them for a couple of days, and turn 'em loose. Let them lead the whole herd to the good food and plenty of water.
You could use a bunch of those boulders to make your pond look like a more natural oasis to “Aquascape” the look. Bring in some huge natural dead timber as well.
You need sheep shaggers (Kiwis) or Australians with Kelpies, you'll have round them up in a couple of hours. Also hessian sheeting over the fences, stops them from breaking through. Funnel them in at a quiet walk and they won't be so stressed.
I do love swing the sheep. And sheep dogs are cool to have around even for a short time. A good working team are ever efficient and fun to watch going through their paces.

You could also take a bunch of apples and put them in the corral overnight. Hang some of the apples out of reach so they can smell them, they will stay in the area of the corral or in the corral then you walk the rest in using the extra fence as a funnel.

You know for herding sheep that have been pretty much wild for 20 years y'all are doing great especially with everything else going on with the ranch, I give it 6-8 more months and you're going to have something special going on with the ranch as a whole keep it up👍
When I was growing up, we had a butcher come out and harvest the critters in the field. They had a truck designed to handle 15 cows. It would be good to check around for local services in dealing with wild farm animals. The fastest way to get them addicted to the free food is molasses. You can burn the molasses to fill the air with the smell of sugar. This will attract other critters as well. It is hard to train them to grapes or marshmallows, but they should know the smell of apples, so pour apple juice on the roof, paint trees with it, and put it in buckets. You want the smell in the wind as much as possible.
Make the feeders ring a bell when they turn on and put them in the middle of the pen the sheep will all start learning the bell means food after a bit and come in on their own
Make sure the fencing is high enough so they cannot jump over AND lock any gates on both top and bottom so they can't push their way out. If you are going to hold them in the corral for a while make sure they have plenty of fresh water and food. ENJOY, SHEEP ARE A PAIN IN THE ASS TO RAISE, BUT THEY TASTE GREAT.
Lol, Matt has learnt why I always laugh when people say sheep are dumb. They beat him 😂. But then I suppose I do run 20 plus thousand of them along with cattle on my station ( ranch).
@@Mister_Smith_YT not necessarily. One of the best herding dogs I know didn't cost his owner a thing, and nobody taught that dog how to work a herd. It was all instinct. I have seen plenty of herding dogs that have never been on a ranch try to herd people. When you get one that keeps nipping at your ankles, that is a dog that is naturally disposed to be a herding dog.
Feed them often with a bucket to teach them that it means food. After a while you will be able to put gravel in the bucket and shake it and they will follow. Also make sure your openings are funnel shaped.
If time allows I would set up several feeding stations within a reasonable perimeter of the goal site. And I think there is leader......once they get used to a particular feeding area they may calm down. Just move the feeding area closer over time to your goal area. Then experienced ranch working cowboys on horses just might work to move sheep to pens. They could be loaded up and relocated. And yes herding dogs are also a good idea!!

Matt, I would get with your local fish and wildlife agent and explain to them your situation. Mention that they are wild sheep, and that they are a nuisance. See what options they can suggest.

I used to work on this big federal facility that was thousands of acres. Long before I got there they had to catch and remove a bunch of pronghorns so they built huge fences that were in a giant V shape to heard these things into. I think that's what you're going to have to do, set up a big funnel that they won't even realize until they're in it until they're in it and have it open into the pen. Those things just seem bound and determined to go the exact opposite way you want them to.

That was my thought too. The dogs would be way more effective than mini bikes, with the added benefit of you can tell them to go find sheep.

What you need is a border collie or two. Sheep is what they do.
