@TheMr11316 that's incorrect. RTK and mower communicate with LoRa radio signal. the radio signal goes through buildings etc. my RTK is in the back of my house and Luba mows the front regardless. Great Video. I'd love a comparison of the "Larry" mower against Luba in terms of hill climbing and getting out of difficult terrain like tree roots and ruts. Personally I bought a Luba. I have huge hills and ruts and it never gets stuck. It has been great so far.
Grrrr...ok, that's it. I'm going to buy one today. One of my concerns is the mower getting stuck and you saying you don't have that issue is great. Tell me something, do you have signal issues with it? For example, I was looking at the EcoFlow Blade and I've seen MANY PEOPLE with signal issues. It gets a weak signal and the mower stops cutting. Do you have that issue? And yes, I actually thought he was going to compare the two mowers in this video. If I'm going to spend $3K on a mower, I really want to get confirmation that it's going to do a good job, so I was really looking forward to the comparison of the two. Oh well.
@@dontbanmebrodontbanme5403 Regarding it getting stuck due to GPS, yes, I have some issues. I have a lot of trees surrounding my yard and some thick bushes near one edge. Luba has issues when it passes there pretty often. Normally it just sits and waits for a better signal, maybe 10 minutes or so but sometimes it strays off its intended path. This is ok when it is in the yard but it can mean that it goes outside of the mowing area too. If in the yard, it simply corrects itself. If outside, it is stuck and has to wait for me to help it. For me, I consider this annoying but it is still way better than manually mowing. I check on Luba a few times while it is mowing by looking out a window. If I don't see it, I go outside and find it, normally just mowing where I can't see it but sometimes it is in the forest by a few feet. This takes a few minutes, which is way better than mowing manually for an hour in the hot sun on a loud and stinky mower. I suggest downloading a GPS test app and checking your area. I get 15 sats in the worst spots with Luba, which is borderline. If you have mountains around you or other obstructions then I wouldn't suggest a Luba. Most people will be fine though. My yard is kinda worst case and it still works. I recently posted a full review on Amazon if you want more details.

7:40 So is the problem that it doesn't have bumper detection like in Husqvarna? So if it thinks that map goes behind wall it tries to go through walls? Or that the detection is not sensitive enough?
I've had a luba for a month now. There have been a few updates, making it better each time. I've got it working on over 7500m2 and it is great at it. Good cut doesn't get stuck. But occasionally loses signal. I'd highly recommend it.
@@dontbanmebrodontbanme5403 Larger areas are no problem, but they shouldn't be possible either. As far as I know there's a software limit and you can map up to 5500 m2 right now, if you want to mow more than that - you need to get a second Luba (which can work with the same antenna as the first one) or remove/readd areas all the time which beats the purpose. The reason for signal loss is tree cover (especially in seasons where there are a lot of leaves or if the tree has thick branches). Other than that - signal shouldn't be a problem unless your RTK antenna and/or base station aren't with clear view to the sky.
Hi George, my dealership sells the Segway and they have been very impressed. They don’t make a 4x4 one though so hence my interest in this one to be honest.
Nice video but a little short on detail. What was the issue that caused Lucy to get stuck in one area? Was it terrain or bad mapping? You said that the two mowers did "two very different jobs" but what does that mean? How do they actually perform with difficult terrain? Your lawn looks like centre court at Wimbledon compared with what I have 😂😂
A local guy is letting me demo a Luba 5000. I did half the yard today and it seems to work as advertised but I need to get familiar with the adjustments as it defaulted to a double grid pattern. I have a nasty hill and it hung up twice on the trimmed edge and sidewalk but corrected its course and got going on its own so no failure. Seems to work as advertised now it's more up to me to figure out settings.

I purchased a Luba a few days ago. Its on its way. I did my research before buying and i keep seeing amazing videos like this that make me feel good about my decision to buy it
I have a three section lawn. Backyard, front yard and the terrace between the city sidewalk and the road. How would the Luba handle that? I have a bad leg and mowing is getting painful. 😢
quick question .. does the GPS antenna need to be in line of sight of the mower ? .. current garden layout could have issues if It needs to be line of sight.. if its just a broadcast signal .. ie fixed transmission its should be good
Love your videos guys. But surely it's worth mentioning that Husqvarna have had RTK wireless machines for quite some time now also. You have made it sound like Husqvarna haven't been moving with the technology, when in fact they lead with it. With EPOS from Husqvarna, you can do all the Luba can and I assume more. You can select to mow randomly, in stripes, in checkerboard or even diamond pattern. There's a reason they have 80% of the market in robotic mowing! I know you will know this as a dealer yourselves, but perhaps the audience doesn't.
Yes but the Husqvarna dealers are so stuck in the past they are hard to communicate with. And the mowers have seen (in reality) NO real improvements over time. With Husqvarna it is "uhh we have to send a guy out" - Build quality is "iffy" (IMO) - and a small upstart release a mower that is so far "almost" as capable as Husqvarna who have 20 YEARS experience. But it is certainly great to get some competition going - which means prices will drop fast.
And my Husqvarna has been in for fixing every year since the first year. Usually in the middle of the summer for a few weeks. Last year cost £600 to repair. Any other brand is worth a shot. I'm really not impressed with their reliability. Currently it's been offline since September as several new motherboards have been dead on arrival.
They are going to be flattened by the low cost larger platforms leaving China now that can push snow ploughs and pull trailers. Let's face it you don't need a robotic mower in a small garden and if you garden like this one is big enough then a trailer and other attachments would be handy. My take is that gen 3 garden machines are coming now.
Can you create different profiles for different sections of property. Can I mainly use it at home but also take it to my other property across town and have it mow that also without having to set a new boundry every time ?
Yes, you can even map separate areas that are not connected, and just add a pathway between them - Luba doesn't start the blades when moving through the pathway. Only limitation that I know of is that with the current software/firmware version you cannot map more than 5500m2.
My mother lives alone in a remote location with 1/2 acre of lawn area. She is immobile so need a mower that is reliable and does not more than annual maintenance. Recommendations please
Does anyone know how I can have my Luba left rear axel repaired? I found mine this morning with fast flashing lights and saw that the axel had broken and the wheel is hanging by the wire.
@@MachineryNation Thanks. I live in US and believe that there may be a company in Texas that can repair Luba. This is probably going to be a pain having this repaired because the product is new. I surely didn't expect to have a broken axel so soon with this mower, so having to deal with the Chinese company may be a challenge.
Lucy ftw. I got Luba recently I put it through its paces. It has a bit of a learning curve and some quirks but the end result is beautiful and, more importantly, consistent!

The video is excellent, and the technology showcased is cool. It's my initial encounter with such a machine, and I believe that with a few firmware updates, any issues or glitches will be resolved. Greetings from Ireland 🇮🇪.
Since they don’t respond to queries, problems will not be resolved. My Luba will not charge. Since they don’t respond, my only option is to cancel the credit charge. I gave them until 07/06/2023 to respond.
Great video! Was planning to get a Husqvarna 435X AWD or an CEORA 546 EPOS! I think the 435X is best looking in the range / love the lights! So do you know if Husqvarna are going to come out with a 435X EPOS version?
Husqvarna have a new system called Nera coming out soon, which is EPOS. There are a couple of different units coming out, which might be what you are looking for.
So many questions; How long are these designed to last? 5 years, 10 years? Are the batteries replaceable? Are there repair parts available? Are the tires pneumatic or solid core foam? How long to recharge the battery? Do you think there Will there be parts in 5 years? New companies have a tendency to wring out in the Kickstart er business model. It's taken me a long time to save this much money, so i want it to last a long time. Their website gives a 404 when loooking for their user manual
Some people have had to replace the batteries. Their customer service is pretty bad. The tires are solid. It takes about 30 minutes for a full recharge.
To be honest, I don’t know that I would pay full price for it. I got it on the Kickstarter for half price. But, if you can afford it, It is wonderful when it works properly. I have a lot of trees in my yard and it rarely loses signal. You can set it to do multiple zones and it will go back and re-charge at 15% and then start back where I left off after it’s charged.
Hi . Very interesting. I have had a Husqvana (Mojo) for several years and love him (note must be male😂) but hate the boundary / guide wire concept. Makes aerating and scarifying a very nerve wracking experience so I will only ever replace Mojo ( I typed that quietly ) with a RTK system. One quick question does Lucy have something similar to Auto Connect or is it Bluetooth controlled. Cheers Tony
I do not understand why you say they do a completely different job, when they do exactly the same thing, mowing the lawn. So can you please tell what Device you would choose?
@machinerynation are you looking at being a dealer for the Luba for the UK as I know currently in the UK there doesn't seem to be any distribution network and therefore limited support.
I have a client who has a robot mower, however, they also have a few apple trees. Once they start falling, it's buggered! I had to strim and cut their grass a couple of weeks ago as it was too long, and the poor little chap couldn't cope with it!!!
When are they going to make larger more robust robot mowers is my question. My riding mower has no problems with the sticks and other obstructions. It doesn’t need to be the size of a riding mower but a robot mower 2x-3x larger with more mass and taller cut lengths (my yard does best at 4”). If safety is the reason it just needs a camera with some AI and it’ll stop the blades if a person or animal approaches.
It appears the blade revolution spin isn't very fast, thus the excessive grass clippings left behind. I hate raking a lawn. It's like mowing it twice just to get it clean.
No it’s not that. The first mow when the grass is long will leave behind cut grass. Once it has cut the level down, it then keeps on top of it. If you watch the full video you will see the difference in just a day. I didn’t rake any grass. The mower reduced all the grass itself 👍🏼
New subscriber…..great video, just have to convince the missus now that we need one of these …..😜. And bonus, you have a stumpy tail Jack Russel as well, we have 9 year old called Fonzi, short for Alfonso 👍👌🇮🇲🐶
The Husqvarna in the video (435X) costs twice as much and requires boundary wire. It is also adveritsed for ~30% smaller yards (3500m2. vs 5000m2. for Luba) so it's not really comparable. Husqvarna however are an established brand and can be purchased in every country with local repair services available as well, so that's something potential buyers should consider too. In any case considering the price difference and how much more affordable Luba is, I don't think there's a real comparison here as you can get 2 (or more depending on the model) Lubas for the price of the Husqvarna equivalent.
If it strays off it's intended path when losing gps coverage, under trees as Charles states, then it's unsuitable for many gardens. I can't have the risk of it going into a pond, inground trampoline or driveway. Safer and cheaper to go the guide wire route, it's not really that hard to put down...
It does not stray off of its path. If it loses signal, it just stops. Also, if you make a no go zone around your gardens, it will never go near them anyway.
As someone who has no prior knowledge of robot lawnmowers at all, it would have been nice to hear what sort of noise the mower makes versus the silly music or the verbal jibber. Cheers.
As the Luba is £2,800 and the Husqvarna 450X NERA is £6,200 (both covering up to 5000m2 wire-free), it's an easy choice... I want to switch from a Husqvarna 450X with boundary wire to wire-free, so will be changing brands. Why is the Husqvarna so much more expensive? Incredible price-gouging IMO.
EVERY new technology is expensive. They had all the development costs and time, etc etc. EASY to copy things. Not so easy to innovate and create new product lines. Husky has been out for close to 10 years. Not even close to the same thing. Hardly price gouging.
@@mikeb1039it is the Luba that is innovating, not husqvarna. Husqvarna made dumb robots and charged a premium for many years. Luba started the mower from first principles and came up with an amazing product at a reasonable price. That’s why Luba looks nothing like husqvarna. I have a husqvarna 405x but I have to be honest. China is innovating amazing consumer electronic products like roborock and now Luba. Be thankful for that. My next mower will be a Chinese designed, likely Luba 2.
@@mikeb1039 what’s suppose to happen now? You have broken the RUclips algorithm by admitting you were wrong on comment section. You should have doubled down and claim Luba is junk and chinese are evil.
i heard a lot of negative critic about the ecoflow. I own the luba for about a month. My 3rd lawn mover until now and definitely the best one, can finally handle my complex garden. The only issue i experienced the luba stops when he completely loses signal. This happens when he gets to the narrow alley surrounded by a high hedge and house wall but he continues automatically after a while when he gets signal again.
Robotic lawn mowers seem like a great idea. I’ve not come across many, one I think and the guy was well impressed. They will of course improve and price come down. A problem I foresee are the gypsies.
I have no experience with the Luba, but I have had a Husqvarna 315X for the past several years. The Husky is a great machine--when it works. Unfortunately, it has had a LOT more issues and spent a LOT more time in the shop that I would expect from a quality piece of machinery. Right now my machine is totally useless. When I turn it on, it gives me a "Collision Sensor Active" message and won't go more than a couple inches in any direction. It's in the middle of an open lawn and it thinks it's constantly hitting something. The shop says there's nothing wrong, that it passes all the diagnostic tests. He has no idea what's wrong. So, even though I have no experience with Luba, I figure it has to be more reliable than my Husqvarna has been.
James I used to have a remote controlled yard mower, then he grew up and moved off. 🙄 Nice machine you have there, some guy that has a small channel did a Luba review also. Both looked like they did a really good job. 🙂👍

@@charlessaftner4208Since you're an owner I'd love yo get your reply to three questions. One is does it leave a lot of clippings that you need to rake or clippings are small enough to just break down on their own? Second, does undercarriage get caulked up with grass when it's damp or wet? Last is what if I have a tence between front and back yard, can I bring it to front manually to keep gate closed? Thank you so much for taking your time to reply 😊🙏
I'm tired of mowing lawns. This looks amazing. Especially that it recharges itself
7:40 So is the problem that it doesn't have bumper detection like in Husqvarna? So if it thinks that map goes behind wall it tries to go through walls? Or that the detection is not sensitive enough?
Yes it has bumper protection 👍🏼
Really enjoyed your review, so real and helpful! 😊 Keep it up!
Great review, thanks! Does the antenne need a clear line of sight with the mower?
no. That's not how RTK works.
I've had a luba for a month now. There have been a few updates, making it better each time. I've got it working on over 7500m2 and it is great at it. Good cut doesn't get stuck. But occasionally loses signal. I'd highly recommend it.
I wonder if it loses signal because you're making it cut a larger area than it says it can handle? It's supposed to only handle 5000m2.
I think its because of tree cover. In open areas it's perfect but any tree shadow it sometimes drops out
@@dontbanmebrodontbanme5403 Larger areas are no problem, but they shouldn't be possible either.
Interesting - i think lawngineer or crazypostman did a review and it shut him down at ~5500m2. awesome to hear you got more than that!
How did you get it up to 7500m2. I’m capped at 5250m2
Hello James, nice video. Have you tested the Segway Navimow. I thought to buy one before I saw this video. Now I'm not quite sure which one to choose.
Your lawn looks like centre court at Wimbledon compared with what I have 😂😂
Great review! Do you know of any smart mowers that are a bit more budget-friendly? Would love some recs!
I think I'd easily choose Lucy.
I was so impressed, so I ordered one 😆

I purchased a Luba a few days ago. Its on its way. I did my research before buying and i keep seeing amazing videos like this that make me feel good about my decision to buy it
I really am genuinely impressed 👍🏼 Please keep me informed on how it all goes.
I have a three section lawn. Backyard, front yard and the terrace between the city sidewalk and the road. How would the Luba handle that? I have a bad leg and mowing is getting painful. 😢
quick question .. does the GPS antenna need to be in line of sight of the mower ? .. current garden layout could have issues if It needs to be line of sight.. if its just a broadcast signal .. ie fixed transmission its should be good
It would defo be better with clear line of sight. On the lawn I installed on, the lower part is not in clear line of sight and it works fine.
@@sUASNews Your idea doesn't reconcile the contradiction that is pushing snow and pulling trailers (POWER!) with a battery operated machine. (power)
Will you ever stock these? I want one but a bit nervous of not having a UK dealer should an issues arise or a need to return for service etc.
Can you create different profiles for different sections of property. Can I mainly use it at home but also take it to my other property across town and have it mow that also without having to set a new boundry every time ?
So can this do the front and back lawn with just one docking station?
Yes, you can even map separate areas that are not connected, and just add a pathway between them - Luba doesn't start the blades when moving through the pathway. Only limitation that I know of is that with the current software/firmware version you cannot map more than 5500m2.
Think I would choose Lucy. It’s next gen tech, I believe. Maybe a bit fiddly at first, but hey that’s half the fun.
With 2 Luba 2's on one RTK, does anyone know if a second RTK can be installed into that system to cover more ground?
how does this work with a front and back lawn I have no location that would cover both areas?
Thx for sharing! 🙏 This one’s a bit pricey for me though... might wait a bit before deciding.
What if you have a few trees on your lawn? Does this interrupt/affect the signal/communication? Also, what if you have 2 separated areas to mow?
You can set a no go zone around the trees. You can have multiple zones and draw channels between them.
My mother lives alone in a remote location with 1/2 acre of lawn area.
She is immobile so need a mower that is reliable and does not more than annual maintenance.
Recommendations please
How do u remove the grass, manually??
Great review, quick and clear. Well done. Love to know which mower you use the most, Luba or Husqvarna ?
I’ve now moved house, already sold the Husq now need to sell Lucy.
Appreciate the review! 👏
good to see lucy behaving herself at once... good girl lucy i belive in u...
Does anyone know how I can have my Luba left rear axel repaired? I found mine this morning with fast flashing lights and saw that the axel had broken and the wheel is hanging by the wire.
You will need to contact Luba directly as they don’t have a dealer network in the UK. We are trying to convince them to set one up 👍🏼
@@MachineryNation Thanks. I live in US and believe that there may be a company in Texas that can repair Luba. This is probably going to be a pain having this repaired because the product is new. I surely didn't expect to have a broken axel so soon with this mower, so having to deal with the Chinese company may be a challenge.
@@richenuff01 let me know how you get on, would be interesting to see what the back up is like 👍🏼
As would I. The service aspect is what is holding me back.
@@richenuff01 any update on Luba?
Lucy ftw. I got Luba recently I put it through its paces. It has a bit of a learning curve and some quirks but the end result is beautiful and, more importantly, consistent!
I'd be interested to see if they make a larger one for giant properties. Ultimate test would be the grass behind my work. Damaged by wild hogs over the years.
I’m rather old etc I at present have a atco 28h with the brigs engine
I’m after a robotic I have three lawns well less than 300 metres however two at the front one at the back any suggestions don’t want wires
£3.5k no problem
Good morning,
Is there a subscription to pay to run luba?
Does the app talk directly to the mower, or do you have to go through lubba's servers?
what happens if lubba files for bankruptcy?
Thank you in advance
Thanks for the review! I’m on the lookout for something a little easier on the wallet.
i´vg ot the AM435X AWD too...But i playing with the idea, to purchase the Luba..How is it with the wheels and the grass...Special with the shock absorbers (springs) How easy is it to clean the mower? The Husqvarna needs a own person to clean it every day ;) Like my coffee station. Ha ha ha..
Hi, I like your video. How do the bots handle the dog droppings ? I have dogs as well. Thanks In advance
Excellent result james, no cables to worry about just set up and go, i do think the way things are going with the technology they will stop selling petrol mowers for normal household use, only people with a lawnmower business be able to purchase any petrol machines, really enjoyed this video👍
That sounds very probable Nev! Thanks mate 👍🏼
I hope you do updates. Want to know more about maintenance and length of life of machine
.
Did you buy one after?
Yes.. a good mower.. and does a good job.. ta for the video.. I need to do some updates on mine.
So many questions;
How long are these designed to last?
@@tfadelta2k thanks for the input!
Cheers Tony
Great vid James mate
Thanks Phil 🤩
Does the receiver always needs to "see" the robot?
I do not understand why you say they do a completely different job, when they do exactly the same thing, mowing the lawn. So can you please tell what Device you would choose?
I told wife we are going on a vacation, but we won’t have money because I bought me a Luba ☠️😂
At least you can cut the grass from the beach!
Hi, are you going to start selling these? Any authorised dealers in the UK?
@machinerynation are you looking at being a dealer for the Luba for the UK as I know currently in the UK there doesn't seem to be any distribution network and therefore limited support.
really informative, thank you very much
Great Mower, thank you for your share
Do you have to pay for the RTK subscription? Some other brands will give you 1 year free but then will charge monthly or yearly fees.
Turn that lawn mower to a giant RC car That would look sweet
I have a client who has a robot mower, however, they also have a few apple trees. Once they start falling, it's buggered! I had to strim and cut their grass a couple of weeks ago as it was too long, and the poor little chap couldn't cope with it!!!
Yeah it's definitely a limitation with these things, wet leaves, sticks, ant hills etc
I've got a few clients with them and I'm constantly finding them stuck in ditches and molehills and all the rest...
Automower is and stay the best, i like the chaotic
Nobody ever mentions or posts the electric specs. How big is the battery? How many volts? Those are pertinent things to compare and consider.
How can we know which mower is better if you only showed us the Luba? Where's the other video?
The Husqvarna in the video (435X) costs twice as much and requires boundary wire. It is also adveritsed for ~30% smaller yards (3500m2. vs 5000m2. for Luba) so it's not really comparable. Husqvarna however are an established brand and can be purchased in every country with local repair services available as well, so that's something potential buyers should consider too. In any case considering the price difference and how much more affordable Luba is, I don't think there's a real comparison here as you can get 2 (or more depending on the model) Lubas for the price of the Husqvarna equivalent.
We are thinking of getting a luba . Will you sell these?
Hi Jennifer, please email me contact@machinery-nation.com
Cheers,
James
Looks like a good one
What model is this thanks
This is the Luba 5000 the link is in the description 👍🏼
Would be good to get an update now that you have had several months of use
Husqvarna. For the outstanding quality.
I was wondering the price points
I'm a bit disappointed you did not offer any short of performance comparisons between the two machines.
Such a shame that no one has come up with a solution for a mower to do the edging also.
Awesome review! But gotta admit, it's a bit pricey for me right now. 😅
I’d be nice if there was hill test comparisons.
Very cool now can you program it to fetch you a beer 🍺
I prefer a Gin and Carrot 😂😂
As someone who has no prior knowledge of robot lawnmowers at all, it would have been nice to hear what sort of noise the mower makes versus the silly music or the verbal jibber. Cheers.
Terribly sorry, plenty of slower paced videos on here of this mower, just search Luba 😂
Lower than a Jack Russel 😂
Question, if it needs to cross a gravel drive will the cutting bed disengage?
I THOUGHT THIS MAN WAS DRINKING HOT DOG WATER. 🌭
Great video! Well presented and informative!
Hotdog water 😂😂 love it! Thank you Hayden 🤩
Absolutely Laughable..As a landscape gardener of 23 years now,,this is so interesting..I certainly won't need to give up my day job...💯🇬🇧💯
No real competition until now, they can charge what they want. Will be cheaper when more companies have similar models.
@@Thecaptainblackadder You are right. I was wrong. On further investigation it looks like a really innovative product.

And what about ecoflow Bade? :)
i heard a lot of negative critic about the ecoflow.
The voflow blade is not good. Many of the Amazon customers are returning them because they are junk and break
LUBA Mammotion Robotic Lawn Mower my pic!
How’s it working after 11 months
Robotic lawn mowers seem like a great idea. I’ve not come across many, one I think and the guy was well impressed. They will of course improve and price come down. A problem I foresee are the gypsies.
12 minutes of everybody's time to get to: "I can't choose... " You're know you're a reviewer ... right?
Its always funny listening to english speakers pronounce Husqvarna 😄
Hews-kvarna, not Huss-ka-varna 😅
Husqvarna with a maintenance shop "next door" for vinter storage and service. Yepp... These buggers are note maintenancefree...
where the cut grass go?
It breaks down into the ground
Exciting stuff, but I’ll be waiting a few years. Want one that will self clean and spread fertilizer or seed.
