We needed an online kalari so much because to learn this art we had to travel all the way to a particular state " Kerala" in India and it is not possible for every Indian. Thanks a lot.
Hi Nilesh and thank you kindly for your comments. You are absolutely right of course - Kalari originated in Kerala and is predominantly practised there. Recently however schools have opened up in other parts of India and students of my Gurukkal have been sharing Kalari internationally for around 30 years, with schools in France, UK, Germany, Latvia, USA, Italy, Holland, Australia, Japan and Poland. Ah yes and our school in Thailand too of course! Hope you continue to enjoy the channel and we speak again soon. Adam

Hi Atharv, good to hear from you. I was training under Sherif Gurukkal and what used to be Kerala Kalarippayattu Academy. Great to hear from you! I miss Kannur very much and hope to come back as soon as it is possible. Stay well. Adam
Hi Mandy and thanks for your comments. Just yesterday I received a set of videos from one of our students. He has just completed level 1 (lessons 1-16) and his form and postures are both excellent. We have had no face-to-face learning together, entirely online. If you wish I can show you his videos as testimony that yes, you can learn Kalari online! :))
Good to know that this ancient art form which uses animal postures and stances is going to live and travel the world. Will start with your online classes and hopefully I would visit the country of gods - kerala. Much love and respect your way.
Yes the first thing we do is go to the Poothara and take a moment to settle, then we make a 2nd offering to Guruthara and a a 3rd to give thanks for the knowledge of the weapons, bought to Kerala by the Aryans. I think it is important to remember however that Kalari is not a Hindu practice. It is practised in Kerala by Hindus, Muslims and Christians (and by those of all faiths as well as those with none). With this in mind, I did not want to saturate the practice with prostrations to Gods that many students may not believe in. Instead what I say to my students is simply take a moment to settle - bring together the two hands - thus uniting Ida and Pingala Nadis and allowing the body's male and female energy to join (please see 01.20 - 01.40 in the above video). We all have our different beliefs as to how we see the essence. Personally I am neither Hindu, Muslim or Christian but I take time every day to connect to the essence before and after I practice. I think what is most important when practising Kalari is that we offer our practice to the earth from which we came, after all it is not OUR practice, we are simply channeling it. I hope this makes you feel better about how I am teaching Kalarippayattu. Best wishes and Namaskaram Adam
@@abhinvijayasingh My teacher is Gurukkal CM Sherif. He was University champion in his youth and later was one of those most responsible for spreading Kalarippayattu to Europe and the west in the 70s and 80s. His Academy (Kerala Kalarippayattu Academy) was chosen to represent all of India at the "World Martial Arts Forum" held annually in South Korea for almost 10 years in a row. So yes, I think we can trust the lineage is a good one ;) Still - thank you for your comments
I am indian but I never get any sources of learning kalari I hope I would be able to really learn this here ... And if you have any advice for me to improve better I will really appreciate that 😄 I already appreciate your work you are doing such a great thing by introducing kalari to some like us over all over the world 🇮🇳
Thanks for your comments Anjali and I am very happy to hear you are enjoying the course. I shall make a video to explain this clearly as several other students have been asking... Let me clarify: Pls do each lesson 2 or 3 times on consecutive days. Then take a days rest. Then move onto the next lesson. In this way you can progress at-a-rate-of 2 lessons per week. Please do not go through the course faster than this but take time to let your body condition as you practice. Stay in touch and let me know how you get on with future lessons! Adam

They I think in this case is rather too ambiguous. All Kalari have their own way of engaging in honouring the Devine, the lineage of teachers, the space of practice, the weapons used and the serpeant energy known as Kundalini. Many Kalari are run by Hindu Gurukkal and have many Gods statues and shrines inside however many are also run by Gurukkal of Muslim, Christian and other faiths. I teach my students that it is up to them how they engage with this energy but what is important is they take time to relax and let go as best they can before and after training. Through this practice/ritual there is an act of consecration that occurs and this brings the individual closer to balance.
That’s great! So happy you have been able to start learning with us :) you’ll find the first 4 lessons are free so please enjoy them and then you can join the channel to access the rest of the course. Keep in touch! Adam 👍

Sorry for the delayed response, i had been resting for a while due to a muscle spasm that happened during the yoga practice, almost getting back to normlacy. And yes i intend to continue the Kalari lessons tomorrow onwards. Meanwhile i was listening to your anatomy lessons on myofascia:)
@@premilashetty7506 Good to hear from you and pleased to know you are feeling good again. May I make a suggestion: Firstly when you return to Kalari tomorrow, please do not push too hard. Take your time when doing the warm-ups (Lohars) and the leg swings (Kalugal) and if necessary pause the lesson and take a little extra time. Then proceed through the lesson and continue not to push. Try to do all the practice keeping as relaxed as you can. Also, Have you access to Ayurvedic medicine? Can you order MURIWENNA oil? If so, you can apply this to the body before practice for 1 week. Pls messageme on whatsapp if you have any Qs, Adam +66657698891
@@KalariLAB Yes Adam, i shall do that. will note down your whatsapp number to get in touch:) I have been on Ayurvedic meds for the spasm and have been getting abhyangam also done every week, which all has been helping recover faster for sure. i am taking it easy with some basic poses in yoga as well. SHall not push too much:) I have been using Dhanvantharam oil for a while now. will surely buy the one which you have suggested. Thanks a lot for the guidance.
@@premilashetty7506 Yes let us speak on whatsapp and I can help you make a training program, if you wish. Dhanwandaram is also a good oil. It is however slightly cooling. Was this recommended to you by a Doctor? If not I may suggest to mix it 50/50 with Pinda for a 'training oil'. The Muriweena can be used for 1 week and then move onto the 'training oil' as the muriwenna will nourish the body more fully after injury. Speak soon.

Is this the first step for a beginner and will I be able to learn online watching your videos as I am fully dedicated to learn
Thank you brother fornyour comments. Much love and respect to you also.
Hi, you directly Jump to movements, no offerings to Gods, teachers ? Isn’t that the first thing they usually do in Kalari’s ?
Maybe he's teacher was not good ones
Best wishes and Namaskaram
Adam
@@abhinvijayasingh My teacher is Gurukkal CM Sherif. He was University champion in his youth and later was one of those most responsible for spreading Kalarippayattu to Europe and the west in the 70s and 80s. His Academy (Kerala Kalarippayattu Academy) was chosen to represent all of India at the "World Martial Arts Forum" held annually in South Korea for almost 10 years in a row. So yes, I think we can trust the lineage is a good one ;) Still - thank you for your comments

They worship something along with light ,
They I think in this case is rather too ambiguous.
So much gratitude for this. I don't believe that i just did my first class of Kalaripayattu after wanting to learn for over 3 years 🙏🏼 so grateful ❤

Hope you re doing fine now?
@@KalariLAB Yes Adam, i shall do that. will note down your whatsapp number to get in touch:)
I have been on Ayurvedic meds for the spasm and have been getting abhyangam also done every week, which all has been helping recover faster for sure. i am taking it easy with some basic poses in yoga as well. SHall not push too much:)
I have been using Dhanvantharam oil for a while now. will surely buy the one which you have suggested.
Speak soon.
