There are some surveyor education-related videos on RUclips that are terrible, erroneous actually. But this one, from the University of Leeds, is very, very high quality and strong on fundamentals. This is essentially how I was taught to "level up" the old school way-- before the advent of electronic theodolites. I also appreciate how they stress checking your work. Excellent!
I agree 100 percent this likely the best video on You Tube regarding how to setup correctly regardless if it be a level, transit, or even a total station.
good video, I have one like this st 156-5. the bubble level is out of alignment. I need some info on how to adjust it. also need a operational manual... any help is appreciated
Thank you man, I am in the 2nd year in civil engineering department in Sana'a University & this video is great but in my ubiversity we use an advanced one we call it T1 or some times we use T16.
Setting up the Theodolite took you about 5 minutes. In tomorrow's test, I'll be asked to set it up exactly over a nail only in 3 minutes !! but for me, if I'm forced to use a Theodolite, the easiest way to set it up is by only using the legs of the tripod to set the theodolite over the point and to level it, this seems much easier than using the leveling screws ....
@001muffdiver You can learn the basics on a total station too. It's a lot easier, and nobody uses theodolites on sites anymore. Measuring an area with a total station takes a few minutes. With a theodolite..... even days.
yes, it is. if you want to check, just stand near a sea shore, and watch the ships coming from deep in the ocean. you will see the top of ship first, and then gradually the rest of the ship. which proves the earth is round. my phone no 9027862077

@001muffdiver also, when using a total station you don't need to worry about other calculations. That's a waste of time and a lot of headache.
un travail intéressant

are theodolites still useful? i picked a pentax th-20d from a garage sale because it had lots of knobs and shiny things
