    I was at that Nirvana NYC Pyramid gig in '89. It was part of the New Music Seminar. I was doing acid with some the guys from GWAR. Everyone cool was there, Iggy, Kim and Thurston, Norm from Swans, etc. A memorable show that's for sure.

      And David Bowie, sadly. But Bowie brought me here and I'm grateful. What a great guy.

    Iggy is a very intelligent guy, he's a prototype, very watchable! Had to look up China girl when I found out he was the one that wrote it and released it first.

  • @mickeymousebiker1

    Iggy + American/British musical influences = king tone. I remember seeing/hearing Iggy perform Bowie's China Girl (fantastic!). Man, how I'd love to talk music with Iggy for about an hour or so. Iggy por vida!

    • @stevobath
      @stevobath 9 лет назад +5

      China Girl is actually an Iggy Pop song. Bowie releasing it, paid Iggy's back taxes & stopped him going bankrupt. It first appeared on 'The Idiot'.

    fact: brian wilson also cites having had a very strong connection with the song 'be my baby' by the ronnettes.

    HIT ALBUM?????? nobody bought raw power when it came out! only outcasts who found it in the cutout bin and liked the album cover. bless them all who did so!

      +hixton weasle
      Then call me 'Nobody' because I bought it as soon as it hit the stands.
      The sound quality (if you want to call it that) is terrible. We can only imagine how much more powerful it would have been had a proper engineer recorded it.

    His parents were high school teachers. His background was middle class. He's smart and he sounds like he's off drugs.

      Ofcourse.....since 2000 ,he found some rest and stability......although, one can use drugs without making a wreck of oneself, all overindulgence from junkfood to booze, will kill.

    Its interesting that Iggy talks about Rumble, because Jimmy Page mentions that same song on one of the "it might get loud" clips on RUclips.

    Interesting that Jimmy Page cites the same Link Wray song as a huge influence in "It Might Get Loud" (doumentary with The Edge and Jack White).

  • @MrSKINFLICK

    LOL...Even Iggy mocks the star cult around the suicidal Cobain + his heroin show in 1991. If you had a lodger in your large apartment like me, who played NOTHING but "Nevermind" in 1991 after returning in the from his silly car salesman job in the evening + then smoking so much grass that he got aggressive against a friendly lessor like me who was also into Iggy Pop-like sounds, you can do nothing after a few months than throw him out of the apartment, what I did. After this the silly Cobain show was finished for me on a personal level + it didn't surprise me when he committed suicide in 1994.

  • @esanch4918
    @esanch4918 2 года назад

    This was so watered down for mainstream audiences….if they wanted to convey an idea of the sound of the Stooges, they should have played snippets from the Stooges rather than his more recent solo work.

  • @perraultfl

    FRigging Iggy Pop, is IN R&R HOF?? u kidding me./////???

    • @knutelindstrom3716
      @knutelindstrom3716 9 лет назад +1

      What's wrong with that? He does rock! And there's a lot of ppl & bands in the RocknRoll HOF! I think he should be, he's a part of Rock history! If it was some lame boy band pop musak group, then I can understand a knee jerk wtf reaction, but Iggy Pop is awesome! He's been at it for half a century & deserves recognition! Ppl argue that Sex Pistols or the Ramones started punk, but I think it was Iggy & the Stooges who really started it-at least a certain flavor of it! Sex Pistols were the beginning of British Punk & NY Dolls & Ramones were doing the NY punk. Depends on who's perspective I guess!

    • @perraultfl

      I like him, its just im still just mad Deep Purple are not "in it." :)
      Is R&R HOF just ?? I really dont know what is wrong with them !! LOL
      LONG LIVE IGGY !! he is pretty cool. thanks !!
