I was at that Nirvana NYC Pyramid gig in '89. It was part of the New Music Seminar. I was doing acid with some the guys from GWAR. Everyone cool was there, Iggy, Kim and Thurston, Norm from Swans, etc. A memorable show that's for sure.
Iggy is a very intelligent guy, he's a prototype, very watchable! Had to look up China girl when I found out he was the one that wrote it and released it first.
Iggy + American/British musical influences = king tone. I remember seeing/hearing Iggy perform Bowie's China Girl (fantastic!). Man, how I'd love to talk music with Iggy for about an hour or so. Iggy por vida!
HIT ALBUM?????? nobody bought raw power when it came out! only outcasts who found it in the cutout bin and liked the album cover. bless them all who did so!
+hixton weasle Then call me 'Nobody' because I bought it as soon as it hit the stands. The sound quality (if you want to call it that) is terrible. We can only imagine how much more powerful it would have been had a proper engineer recorded it.
Iggy u r my all time classic blend of all my fave bands + music genre!!! You r I of a kind. After 1st seein + hearing the raw edge 2 the music followed by ur unreal performances, I was sold. In my youth my ptnrs band named "Raw Power" in honour of your great Albumn. Ig, you've still got it.
Ofcourse.....since 2000 ,he found some rest and stability......although, one can use drugs without making a wreck of oneself, all overindulgence from junkfood to booze, will kill.
LOL...Even Iggy mocks the star cult around the suicidal Cobain + his heroin show in 1991. If you had a lodger in your large apartment like me, who played NOTHING but "Nevermind" in 1991 after returning in the from his silly car salesman job in the evening + then smoking so much grass that he got aggressive against a friendly lessor like me who was also into Iggy Pop-like sounds, you can do nothing after a few months than throw him out of the apartment, what I did. After this the silly Cobain show was finished for me on a personal level + it didn't surprise me when he committed suicide in 1994.
This was so watered down for mainstream audiences….if they wanted to convey an idea of the sound of the Stooges, they should have played snippets from the Stooges rather than his more recent solo work.
What's wrong with that? He does rock! And there's a lot of ppl & bands in the RocknRoll HOF! I think he should be, he's a part of Rock history! If it was some lame boy band pop musak group, then I can understand a knee jerk wtf reaction, but Iggy Pop is awesome! He's been at it for half a century & deserves recognition! Ppl argue that Sex Pistols or the Ramones started punk, but I think it was Iggy & the Stooges who really started it-at least a certain flavor of it! Sex Pistols were the beginning of British Punk & NY Dolls & Ramones were doing the NY punk. Depends on who's perspective I guess!
I like him, its just im still just mad Deep Purple are not "in it." :) Is R&R HOF just ?? I really dont know what is wrong with them !! LOL LONG LIVE IGGY !! he is pretty cool. thanks !!
You are so different from anybody who ever was, and I love you Iggy!

tell us more!
True legend of music.
One if the few *real* artists left.....The guy will for ever be remembered for the amazing sounds he produced in the late 60's and 70's....
I wonder how many people actually realized/knew Iggy/James is a intellectual/philosophical guy :) Thanks for "Little Know it All"
Iggy rules. My friends made fun of me forever. Now they don't.
Makes me wanna cry like a baby the Igster! Saw him in 1979 in Chicago with Stiv Bators and the Dead Boys. Great great show that was!!!
wow lol that's fuckin crazy to think this guy has outlived Nirvana and The Ramones an he's crazier and been playing longer than they had lmao
And David Bowie, sadly. But Bowie brought me here and I'm grateful. What a great guy.
Iggy is a very intelligent guy, he's a prototype, very watchable! Had to look up China girl when I found out he was the one that wrote it and released it first.
Iggy Pop you are the man!!!
Iggy + American/British musical influences = king tone. I remember seeing/hearing Iggy perform Bowie's China Girl (fantastic!). Man, how I'd love to talk music with Iggy for about an hour or so. Iggy por vida!
China Girl is actually an Iggy Pop song. Bowie releasing it, paid Iggy's back taxes & stopped him going bankrupt. It first appeared on 'The Idiot'.
fact: brian wilson also cites having had a very strong connection with the song 'be my baby' by the ronnettes.
One of my favorite artists and a wonderful human being with a big heart and an honest character.
HAPPY 67TH BIRTHDAY IGGY POP !!!!!
iggy i love you
iggy pop rules 🤘
Iggy has always had great taste in music. Frank Sinatra was INCREDIBLE!

Iggy!!!
His parents were high school teachers. His background was middle class. He's smart and he sounds like he's off drugs.
Ofcourse.....since 2000 ,he found some rest and stability......although, one can use drugs without making a wreck of oneself, all overindulgence from junkfood to booze, will kill.
...il fotografo per ascoltare i 45 giri! Uuuugh anche io lo avevo simile !!
E si.... quanti ricordi
E poi nei primi 90 ...i Nirvana! Un esplosione!
Lindo y bello mi Iggy, un rockero auténtico 😘
Iggy embodies everything that is rock. To me, he's the king of rock.
Its interesting that Iggy talks about Rumble, because Jimmy Page mentions that same song on one of the "it might get loud" clips on RUclips.
Kool dude !
Interesting that Jimmy Page cites the same Link Wray song as a huge influence in "It Might Get Loud" (doumentary with The Edge and Jack White).
In my feed Jan 2021?
you mean THE greatest performer of all time
what's the name of that song at around 26 seconds??
He sounds just like the DJ from K-DST and LRR!
Iggy on mainstream morning news?...They tolerated him while he tolerated them...
Liberty Rock Radio.
Iggy Pop, "Lust For Life"...
Hahahahaha lol :D good times.
Wow, he sounds completely different when he speaks!
