I got to see AND MEET! Jim in 2007. He was one of the most humble and down to earth guys you'd ever want to meet. I also got to meet Gary Numan and Eric Bloom of Blue Oyster Cult. They were just the same. God bless them, every one.
the living legend...please god don't take Iggy...cause we already missed Bowie, Lemmy, Cobain, MJ, Prince, chaster and many great artists that defines the real music...
Nugtroen this dude has immensely high drive and will power, it’s evident from watching and listening to him. it’s also evident he is dense and has an average intelligence (i’ve just watched several videos from over time from him). He’s a little bit slow and he knows it.
"please god don't take Iggy"...We are all going to go friend, we all belong to God. Just pray that he accepts Jesus and all will be ok. God bless you and Iggy James as well.
Hard to believe that I first saw the Ig with David Bowie on Sunday March 5th 1977, at the now defunct Rainbow venue in London. A true force of nature, I'm glad that he has finally got the recognition he truly deserves.
Keep it coming Jimmy/James/Iggy, peace and love. I met you once in hell A at the Brick By Brick listening party and I wasn't supposed to be there ;) , I thank you brother for a life of sounds and music.
Polly Ann yes Why ? Been listening to Iggy since the late 70’s. Seen him only once tho but was the best concert I have seen. Him dancing around all sweaty and well you know ..........
still crazy to think that he played a father figure on a early 90s nickelodeon tv show. whats more, is he actually did a great job at playing the part with the few scenes he had. love this dude.
Beautiful when a son or daughter talks about parents showing affection. Maybe, all the madness could be overcome due to his connection with their love. Bowie and Iggy shared creativity and good hearts, in my opinion, that's why they may have gotten along so well.
5:00 - during his stay in that mental institution he recorded one of his best solo efforts "Kill City". One of the three best rehab album ever recorded along with Alice Cooper's "From the Inside" and Courtney Love's "Nobody's Daughter".
it's a shame there is so little atention on iggy's 77-83 period. he had the best band's then, like the 78 tour with sonic randezvous, and all the other... well san franisco 81 is a great example. that was a totaly diferrent demension. he was 34 then.) ppd is good for 69 .
Iggy, James, I pray you didn't sell your soul like the rest of these fools. I know David sould and that really made me sick!! I will miss you when you do leave us. Hopefully, you will be around for a long time! I love your music it always gets me going to a good beat and I keep in my head all day!. And if you did sell your soul, please ask for forgiveness call on Jesus and he will answer you! Thank you, Iggy, for the all of the good and fun times I've had with you growing up until now, I'm a middle-aged woman still rocking out when I listen to you! Peace and many blessings to you and your family.
cheryl knight Bless your sweet heart. That was such an honest thing to say. I hope you are blessed in every way possible, I hope Iggy James is as well and see`s and heeds your words. Happy new year to you dear.
I think that his latest album will be his last. Besides this interview I remember reading an article about him, where Iggy Pop mentioned that he believed that his latest album would be his last. I hope that´s not true, but Iggy Pop is a cool man and he has influenced many artists. :)
I like his comment about all the "nay sayers" in his life, and how he told himself that he can succeed it this...............I remember back in my late teens and 20's, there were so many people that were nay sayers to me..............I tuned them out.........and just did my thing, trying to do it the best that I could............I've learned never to listen to nay sayers........believe in yourself, and just tune out the negativity..............also, he love the reverence that he gives his mom and dad........he's lucky he had all their support
Have always dug you Iggy Pop!! In the same groove as Bowie ,Kurt ,Mick , Chili Peps, Steven, oh onnand on. I’m from Detroit (Dearborn) . Tough stuff we are... sexi sexi man yum . Coming to Cali...? Wild One💋
Bloody hell! At first I really didn't want to believe the trailer park story, but I read an Iggy interview with Rolling Stone and there it is! Ight says his parents were the only people living there with a college degree...wow!
In the 50s there wasn't an old trailer or an old trailer park. Everything was new, temporary, and almost disposable. Trailers and their parks were made to be transitional, it's just that the rich minority who own the government needs the majority to be poor and dumb to pay all their bills.
I do not know what kind of attitude the mainstream society had towards Iggy back in the early 70s, but based on many of his interviews available YT he seem to have been treated like a darling he was. A sort of admiration. I guess his good looks helped. And... I have a theory on his pop success lately. Well, in the last 25 years really. This is simple demographic. Former college kids who went to his concerts or listened to similar music have grown to be executives, producers, directors and they started to embed Iggy in their work because he formed they whole cultural basis so to speak, core memories. And this is the explanation of this "me and society met hal way". The society is composed now of the people who were receptive to his music in early 70s.
He is much more intelligent, eloquent, and sane than the current POTUS. I would exchange them in a heartbeat. Perhaps for any of the alt-right oppressors.
God I just respect this dude a lot. I've only started listening to Iggy and The Stooges recently, but his personality and what he gave to music is just amazing. Not to mention how incredibly good his body looks when he's nearing his 70s.
The stuff he did with James Williamson is the best, in my opinion. the IP/JW songs have this melancholy sound that is without equal. You can hear it in Gimme Danger.
Do people not know that his “stage dive” was a drug induced act.. his early life was all Drugs and music. And now it’s been taken over by the mainstream and pop. Long live the days of real music and feeling
Look at that big sun god symbol on the sunday morning today show. I suppose everyone is supposed to be thinking that`s just a bright early morning sun shiny day symbol.
I've been lucky enough to meet him twice. When I was a kid, it was see the show, wait by the bus. Sometimes you get lucky. Two autographs. I never felt dumb asking for them.
1:40 I gave it up here, but not here... is he pointing / referring to his heart or his balls? Then again, what's the difference, does it matter... works for both!
Don't retire or slow down! Pop depression is amazing. This dag and age 69 is nothing. Bowie would have carried on. Blondie carrying on not a Christopher Lee at 91 was still rocking both music and film. Don't throw in ya shirt.... Well you'd have to put one on first.
all that cardio he got on stage..... man, it's paid off. He looks great for 69. now he's 71.
Verdade
Iggy for President
cybersphere i hate him 🤢🤮
more like iggy poop 🤣🤣😂😂😂😂😂🤪🤪🤪🤪
Yes absolutely
No Alice cooper! Iggy is vice president. I wanna be eleeecteeeeeedssss
The guy is so overrated ... him and jeff Beck
“The simplest thing would be that society and i met halfway”. Now thats wisdom, and exactly the words i have been looking for my whole life.
i love how the image of punk was being rude and cursing because of the sex pistols....do you see how nice the godfather of punk is??
Iggy is an absolute legend and always will be
I'm gonna miss you so much when you're gone Iggy. I love you.
So let’s just not think about it until it happens, alright?
Patricio Fernandez let's not talk about another death he is alive and well.
Patricio Fernandez You are an optimist.
Actually, I bet he will outlast the most of us.
Patricio Fernandez so will I and Millions of ppl around the World
That voice. If iggy retires from music i hope he starts doing audiobooks.
He has a weekly show on BBC radio 6 music. Such a great voice.

Thank you for your reactions, thumbs up on my message
What a great feature! Sunday Morning has always been an amazing show, and Iggy is the best!
can you imagine seeing Iggy Pop sitting on a park bench doing an interview? that would be awesome
Out of all performers, I would like to meet Iggy most of all.
Marv Martin me to
Me too. I've told several friends that.
really precious
Excellent interview and production
Loved him as a Vorta. One of my favorite DS9 episodes.
hell yay
5:40 Iggy: I saw four guys on stage with no shirts, they all looked like me! They are Red Hot Chili Peppers! How could I compete with that?
Still as fun and as articulate as ever. Posterity has proven his greatness - the world had to catch up with him.
Will Always love you Iggy !💋❤️
LOVE ME SOME IGGY!
Keep it coming Jimmy/James/Iggy, peace and love. I met you once in hell A at the Brick By Brick listening party and I wasn't supposed to be there ;) , I thank you brother for a life of sounds and music.
z Brick by Brick had the song that initially made me take notice of Iggy (Butt Town).
I love the Igster he says I "had some minor spiritual influence on some guys"
What a treat to dance to his tunes and listen to his intelligence
I love your inflamed soul and good luck with your interesting collaborations
He actually doesn't look as bad as I thought he would, given his track record of physical abuse of his own body.
Wanderlei Reltihfloda he looks great for his age and drug use.
I know WHY
He exercises, eats very healthy and maintains a good weight.
He's very well spoken and articulate too
''Something called love. Well, love, love, love...that's like hypnotizing chickens!''
You are a legend.
Why why why did I wait so long to listen to this wonderful guy! LOL
Polly Ann yes Why ? Been listening to Iggy since the late 70’s. Seen him only once tho but was the best concert I have seen. Him dancing around all sweaty and well you know ..........

Raw Power is the greatest rock album ever made, so he won. Beat the critics into the ground
I like him.
awesome man !!always loved IGGY

He’s super cool 😎
I always found him some kind of scary but: he is so so nice, humble and loving. Great guy.
He figured out where the money is. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
keep doing what your doing man!
IGGY POP . . PHENOMENON !!!
Iggy slow down? Im seeing him live later this summer. I Hope!!!

Those albums in between the Bowie periods were so far ahead of their time. Classic Iggy.
Nod. You're right, very overlooked period. There's an interview on yt from Danish tv 1983 or 84 and he's just so clever and inspirational.
New Values is a pretty important album
I’ve watched him on tv a couple time, not a fan but after watching this,he seems to be a nice guy.
The first time I saw him was on the Dinah shore show! Not kidding.
Best eyes in show business!!
His new album kicks ass.

Byron bay blues... Robert plant was putting us to sleep. Went to Iggy instead. What a fucking night ! He's a machine.
