Iggy is probably the most humble& genuine rock star ever. He’s a guy who’s blend in in any crowded bar and just hang out. Another Detroit legend. Every interview I’ve ever seen is amazing. He’s so intelligent and at ease with who he truly is.
He was underrated? He’s one of the most highly rated musicians of the last century. He’s credited with spawning a music genre that had mainstream impact worldwide (punk), stage diving, and critics and musicians alike highly rate him as well as being incredibly influential.
I saw Iggy and the Stooges back in 1970 in Birmingham, Michigan, and can't help but chuckle to myself knowing that I was into punk, and didn't even know it. What an icon he is!! Keep on rockin' Iggy!!!
@Iggy Pop Sorry....but this is not your post, its CBS This Mornings post. I cannot believe you are who you are (posting your phone number???) so please don't reply back to this post.
Yes he's experienced a lot but he's down to earth and I sometimes forget that part. I love to watch him, listen to his music and interviews. Most in awe no of his friendship with David Bowie. That's too much coolness.
Elaine, hello! Will you pardon me if I differ with you on two points? First, you aren’t old. And secondly, I can see you. But we each look up to Iggy Pop!
I had the pleasure of shaking hands and meeting the Ig in Miami in attendance at Churchill's bar where he was performing at a video shoot for his new single...he's the real deal, a genuine authentic "dude"
Anthony Mason, I miss you! Your enthusiasm and love for music are necessary. I hope that you are enjoying having more free time, but please know that you are deeply missed.
Growing up in Detroit,Iggy was a hero to me.One of the first times I saw the Stooges he dove right on top of me and I went down and cracked my head and saw stars. For some reason I have loved Iggy ever since. He was rock n roll mayhem that became known as punk rock.We both survived Detroit in 60s and 70s and I feel akin to him...thanks for the memories and the music.
Never EVER, for as long as I've known Iggy, never seen him choke up or tear up like he did here about his father, and you can tell there was a lot of gap filling to be done between the two, only in the end, his father praising him that he actually became and accomplished something.
I had Mr. Osterberg for English in High School in the mid-seventies. The story at the time was that if you mentioned Iggy to him, then he would flunk you. I think this is sort of what Iggy was talking about when he said his Dad was squaring things with him. I don't think his Dad was on-board with his career as the Godfather of Punk.
Just before I watched this video, I watched a video of Iggy on David Letterman in 1982. He mentioned to Dave that he gets to play golf with his dad 8 weeks out of the year during his breaks from touring and how he enjoys that time with him.
feel so sorry for the kids who didn't grow up in his time, music great then, and absolutely crap now. To be a kid through punk and beyond was sooooooo much fun, energy and rebellion. Thanks Iggy and pals.
Iggy, we are lucky and blessed to have had Dads like ours. I could not hold my Father's hand when he died of COVID. But, I know I will always be his little girl. I LOVE YOU DAD! ❤ ¡TE QUIERO Y TE EXTRAÑO PA' ❤!
honestly don't think conventional America will ever understand the man. he's OUR champion and I love him for the audacity and sheer unconventionalism he inspired.
I had the pleasure of having a circa 45 minute conversation with him and his girlfriend (now wife) He was such a nice guy, talkative friendly and so was his girlfriend. It was in 2001. One of the more memorable moments in my life ♥️
Musicians That Realized NO OTHER Could Be A More Perfect Choice,, Ryuichi Sakamoto (Feat. Iggy Pop) "Risky"....Peaches (Feat. Iggy Pop) "Kick It" ...BOTH MUST HEAR Songs.
I was just up in Copper Harbor awhile back, and after dinner at the Mariner, I noticed a small poster for a film called "Claiming Iggy", well the hostess saw me staring at it and asked me what I was looking at, I said that poster, Iggy was really up here in Copper Harbor? Well she said yes and that the big guy in the dining room was a friend of his and that he made the film. Well of course I had to go back and inquire about this, the guys name is Dan Kauppi, and he says yeah the films on RUclips, and its about how some of these locals became friends with "Jimmy" when he was a kid and summered up there with his parents. It's like a comedy/documentary, I recommend it. Then after seeing this interview, and Iggy's touching recollection of reconcilliation with his Father at the end, well that was nice yet painfull to watch, for personal reasons. I've been following the man since Fun House, and I've turned my kids on to the real deal, and I'm just glad he's still with us. If any of you folks out there watch "Claiming Iggy", I hope you give it a like, then head up to the frontier and have a drink at the Mariner.
Oh man. This guy is so iconic, talking about his parents, and how he still feels about them. So humble.
He touched me speaking about his Father !
I absolutely love this man.
Iggy is so present, so forward looking yet at ease with his history. Open, honest. sincere. Love him.

Iggy. Highly underrated. Wildly ahead of his time.

Who can forget 'I'm bored' ? Loved it.
People use words they don't know the meaning of. Or they don't think before they write... Might be a bit of both...
AWW.. The pain in his eyes when he talked about his father.. you can tell by that look, that he really loved his father.. 💞 bless him.. 🥰
Interviewer shouldnt laugh when he says about Vietnam.
A father's love means the whole world to broken young men.
@Iggy Pop Thank you sir.. But I don't have any of those.. I only use messenger.. I'm slightly old school when it comes to social media.. 😅
@Iggy Pop bruh this is such clearly a fake account lmfao
What happened with his dad?
A great performer. As a suburban Detroiter, I’m glad he’s always kept his Detroit grit and accent.
Iggy is my hero
He is everyone's hero
@@rools2roolsproject325 Not mine my heroe is Ozzy🤘🤘
Iggy Pop is a child molester and anyone who thinks he's a hero is a sick POS
@@realmcoy4696 Thats a 💯too!
I love Iggy Pop. Since 1977 there is no other person in rock who moves me as Iggy does.
same here !!
Same!🎉
So moving when he talks about his father.
I saw Iggy and the Stooges right after Funhouse. It was a mind-blowing experience I’ll never forget.

Iggy is down to earth! Love this interview!
The guys an absolute legend, very humble and very likeable.
Iggy is the king, it took time but it’s great to see he is receiving the respect he deserves, even from mainstream media
This man is a legend, a great lyricist, a beautifully insane personality, he's humble and most of all he's a survivor
Nicely stated. 👍

I'm from new York area and I love how king of punks is from the Midwest
My first tattoo was Iggy. Absolute legend. A gentle soul.
American Legend
God Bless him ❤
Absolute legend that never conformed to anyone else’s type.
Thank you for sharing. I wish my dad would do the same. I so look up to you.
I'm 62. Old lady nobody can see. I see 👀 you and you make me smile.
Elaine, hello! Will you pardon me if I differ with you on two points? First, you aren’t old. And secondly, I can see you. But we each look up to Iggy Pop!
iggy is epic. i'm 58 & been a fan for most of my life. i love that man & all he's brought to the world.

Actually, he would break glass on stage and dive into it and/or grab shards and cut himself.
No boundaries, no limits.
Love him so much! Still full of charisma, and his eyes twinkle! ❤
I had the pleasure of shaking hands and meeting the Ig in Miami in attendance at Churchill's bar where he was performing at a video shoot for his new single...he's the real deal, a genuine authentic "dude"
and this dude abides!
Legend at a legendary Miami venue
Love you Iggy! Man is a legend.
Iggy is unique in so many different ways.
My Iggy concerts are some of my greatest Highlights of my club days. He is an extraordinary performer.

awwww. Iggy, that moment about Dad got me.

Doug,are you okay?
totally based
I was never a fan of his but I’m glad he survived and he’s in a good place. He seems happy. He could have easily been another Rock casualty.
I love the man, I love his music. Great interview, thanks.
I cry whenever I hear another guy talking nicely about his Dad.
Never EVER, for as long as I've known Iggy, never seen him choke up or tear up like he did here about his father, and you can tell there was a lot of gap filling to be done between the two, only in the end, his father praising him that he actually became and accomplished something.
He's so cute. Nobody can be him. Love him for being original ❤️.

Actually, there are times that Iggy does sound somewhat like Neil Diamond.

I just saw him live, and he was incredible. Go see him!
What a man, much respect to him.

What a great person and boo to the naysayers back in the day!!! Very inspirational to the young musicians...
the limelight of love and acceptance...eternally. Love always.
Thank you Iggy for all your effort!
Iggy is so damn awesome! One of a kind!!❤❤❤❤❤❤
The best live show I've ever seen was Iggy. The second best was Iggy. Third goes to P-Funk. The rest of the top ten are all Iggy.
Iggy, we are lucky and blessed to have had Dads like ours. I could not hold my Father's hand when he died of COVID. But, I know I will always be his little girl.

father / son dynamic. Is this what's missing? Absolutely.
Right on iggy you’re a legend!
I'm no doctor, but I think scoliosis has set in as evident by his latent posture. Love you Iggy. CBS Sunday Morning is such a gem.
Please give Iggy a medal. He is a legend!
"Where does the blood come from" she said. "The veins" should have been the answer.
Willie Duitt that lady cant even imagine someone cutting themselves on stage during a show 😂
@@aavantibeauty It's not her age. She's younger than Iggy Pop.
He's a cool guy, he's in such great shape.
The man is seventy and looks like he's still in his forties

"Most likely to succeed." Well, that prediction was right.
Love Iggy Pop. Could listen to him chat for hours.
Iggy was very close with his Father. They golfed together. Good interview.

Cool interview.

Some of my most fond memories are grooving in small venues with Iggy. Shocking I Wanna Be Your Dog was recorded in 1969. Father of Punk.

On Sunday morning show on CBS...crazy the times changed...aww Iggy got emotional
Seeing iggy tear up was just 😢
Just a loveable guy, that exceptional Stage animal!
🤩Awesome Interview👍
An intelligent and extremely likable guy.
I will be truly bummed when this man leaves the planet. Keep on keeping on Iggy!
This dude has no right to look so good at his age after everything he's done.
he got a right alright
I just love this guy!! Nothing fake about him.
A Rockn Roll Icon Period
So cool Iggy Pop free as ever...
I love him so much, I almost can't handle it.
“1970” is the first and greatest punk song of all time - and I won’t hear otherwise
Iggy shouldn't be compared to punk. He was before punk and the inspiration for it.
Iggy Pop is still on top of his game!
🤘🏻🤘🏻🎤🎤💖
Is it just me, or does that high school photo of iggy make him look eerily similar to Ryan Gosling?
Just awesome! Tender and an American badass...Godspeed...
Great man😀
Im close to his age,but ive never heard of him. I must say looks like i missed out on this guy.. Thats a shame.. He seems wonderful...😁
