Hard to believe this is the same car from several months ago. All that work has paid off. It sounds absolutely beautiful. This is going to be a very fast car. There are so many little things that go through my mind when I do 0-60 & 0-100 like all the environmental variables of temp, humidity, moisture actually on the road surface and then how the car was acting and what's been done and is waiting to be done. And all that is present before I thing of what I personally could have done better.
Yeah she's a pretty nice ride now compared to the $800 piece of junk it was when I first picked it up. What do you drive Frank? I didn't know you were into racing around in cars like that. Going to the dragstrip makes launches a lot easier because the strip is super sticky- you would almost stall in a car like this instead of spinning. I used to go every year, but I got tired of never having anybody to race other than strangers with brand new Corvettes and Hellcats that would completely destroy me. Basically they were super fast because they were rich and I wasn't- 9&10 second cars vs my 13-15 second cars. There's no fun in that...
@@92kbuilds-mn2lk I don't race but I do like to drive fast. Currently I've got a 2017 Honda Accord V6 2 door coupe. It's capable of about 150. I take it up to 140. It's good in a straight line but not the best in the corners. I don't really do any work on them anymore. Many years ago I did minor stuff like wheels, tires, exhaust, cold air intakes, etc. I lost my interest in mods as I got older. I had a lot of fun with my 2001 or 2002 (cant remember now) Nissan SER Spec V. That would corner better. Had a very close call in that 1. Didn't drive it for close to a year. My fault ,in the country on twisting roads driving too fast and his fault pulling out of his driveway not looking. Came to a stop from 100 about 8 feet from his passenger door. He pulled out and had like 10 full seconds to pull back into his driveway but froze. Scared me bad. After that I slowed down a bit and only run fast occasionally & where I'm sure nobody can pull out in front of me. I've enjoyed the channel. Seeing these cars coming back to life is fun.
Nice, that generation of Accord is fast with the V6. The newest one only has 195hp and no other engine option lol. I actually had a red 02 Sentra Spec-V- it was totaled before I even made my first payment on it because a girl ran a stop sign right as I was going through the intersection at 60mph. I was pissed, and the concussion I got made it even worse. Like you I learned where going fast was appropriate and where it was not, driveways and blind corners and such (also deer). I had several close calls like you experienced and even put a couple cars in the ditch taking a corner too fast. I don't even want to talk about motorcycles lol, owned 3.
@@92kbuilds-mn2lk Yeah, its a shame about the lack of the V6 and manual gone from the Accord. Mine is a great daily driver and fast enough to play with when I get the nurge to go fast. Sorry about your Spec V. Thank God you're OK. It's surprising how well made those cars were being they were so small and light weight. They weighed just over 2700lbs. But they were safe little cars. Yes, the close calls are eye opening experiences. I just couldnt believe that guy froze in the road. It was probably only a few seconds but it felt like 10+ as I was coming towards him, down shifting , and pulsing the brakes. I layed a bike down on my 1st drive ever of maybe 3/4 mile. It was Dad's 1970's (73 , 74 somewhere around there) 550 Suzuki. Those were huge, heavy bikes back then. Luckily I was just learning, going very slow and only got a little road rash. That was it for many years. Didnt drive another til about 10 years later. A friend had a little Honda. He said its light and fun to drive. Take it around the block. I did and a truck didnt see me and npushed me off the road onto the sidewalk. Didnt drop it but after 2 experiences I decided 4 wheel would be better for me.
I've had a few of those moments where the other driver froze. Some were legitimate freakouts, others I think were trying to get hit on purpose to pull an insurance sam. One thing I realized about motorcycles is mundane things that are absolutely nothing in a car like hitting washed out gravel or a raccoon, usually means losing control of the bike and possibly your life. Then you have the other drivers not seeing you and trying to run you over. T-bone a car at 60 like I did in the Sentra but on a bike and you're either in rehab for 6 months or gone all together. Bikes are probably 10x as dangerous as cars, and that's just at the speed limit...
Aye, long time no see. I need to stop by your channel and see what you've been up to over there. Should be mid 6's but I think I ran a bit slower than that for the reasons mentioned at the end of the video. I'm gonna get a draggy soon and then there'll be no question what times I'm runnin in everything.
Oh I would definately put a lot more into this car if I had the funds to do such, but I can't afford a turbo or anything like that right now. That's actually the whole reason I sold the Mustang, because I couldn't afford it anymore. Lost my job 2-3 years ago and have just been doing youtube ever since (you remember the pew channel right?). Hoping this car channel takes off like the other and then I'll be in a good position to start building a lot of nice project cars on here. Of course the other channel has grown decently and it pays the bills, but I don't have much leftover each month to play with. Someday soon though I hope- gotta get this one to 1000 subs first to monetize...
@@92kbuilds-mn2lk I hope this channel takes off for you too. The automotive CPM is quite good. I still check out your other channel from time to time, but car stuff is were my heart lies these days. Keep up the good content 👍
@@92kbuilds-mn2lk Both lol. I guess my question would be what's a reliable fun old manual car that can be bought for sub 5k (ok if it needs some minor work).
@@92kbuilds-mn2lk with these cars if it cold starts good, but the idle gets worse when warm, and when off throttle its IAC. Warm idle should be 700 +\- 50, sticking IAC can be cleaned but I’ve only had success with this once. For after market IAC I’ve found if OEM isn’t an option either WVE or Walker Products will work, basically identical in stepper motor operation but WVE is cheaper and performs a bit faster imo. If idle is bad on cold start, but gets better after warmed, MAF. Possibly damaged thinking you can clean ours which you absolutely can NOT clean our MAF as there is no hot wire to clean, it uses a different kind of sensor that is a laser/mirror combo and essentially “listens” to the air volume. Only Maf that will work correctly with our cars is OEM of Delphi, as Delphi used to be Denso and a subsidiary of GM Understanding our unique Maf due to their relationship with Mitsubishi from the diamond star motors days. The Delphi will contain unique features to our Mafs, such as the barometer. OEM first choice for this, only Delphi as a viable option in the aftermarket space.
@@92kbuilds-mn2lk Do not adjust idle speed with BISS screw, IAC will adjust regardless of BISS setting and ECU will still control idle. If someone has messed with the BISS screw, stock BISS setting is from all the way in, one and a half turns out. To test IAC with a multimeter set to resistance 200 ohms and between pins 2-1 and 2-3 resistance must be 28-33 ohms at 20c/68f. Same test needs to be preformed between pins 5-6 and 5-4 pins, same resistance and same ambient temperature. Be aware a bad IAC can pass this test, but it's a helpful indicator of the stepper motors health.
Yeah I almost made the MAF cleaning mistake, had the can in my hand and glad I read it first. It idles fine cold and then does a pulsing vroom-vroom-vroom like it's cammed when it's warmed up even though it's not. Appreciate the write up man, I'll try replacing the iac sometime. I put so much time, work, and money into this thing for like a year straight from day 1, just kinda wanted to enjoy driving it for a while and be done working on it lol. Did a full tune up, fixed coolant leaks, and did the timing belt more than once. Also whole new front end (struts, tie rods, control arms, links, bushings). O2's and iac are next I guess, and figuring out the evap leak at some point. Got an RSX that needs fixin too that I need to get started on...

that SES light is slowing you down. get what ever it is fixed. the car is in "safety mode" mean it runs slightly rich to keep the engine safe with that light on.
It's for an evap leak, which simply means vapor is escaping from the fuel tank. I highly doubt it's in any "safety" mode reducing performane due to this, as a vapor leak from the tank isn't going to cause any harm to the engine. But I do intend to address it at some point...
