There’s only 1 catch… you have to be a good inoff driver to launch it from 0-60 to get that sub 2 sec time
You need a prepped track with glue on the launch pad .No other way to even get near that time.
True catch is everyone will race these on a dusty airstrip vs a AWD 1000hp EV and then the comments will be filled with the typical hate.
Unlike what the trio did when Hammond and Clarkson asked May what his “Excrement” (Hennessy Camaro) ran on. He said 100 octane leaded race fuel. Only works on the track, yet everyone still thinks it’s a daily commuter

You never know if you will ever need to go that fast, but it sure is nice to know you can!

i think dodge is making those extras a lot more expensive on this car for two reasons, first is because they know no matter how expensive they make it, people would still buy it, and also secondly they don't want people to add extras on this car because they want people to really experience a street made drag car with peak lightness and performance would feel like, honestly getting rear seats and also leather seats for a car like this is honestly absurd
I agree, I was just thinking "Why the hell do I want rear seats?" when he was talking about it. Passenger seat makes sense, if ya got the money, you gotta show someone else a good time lmao.

I love that this car exists, but let's be real absolutely no one is ever doing 0-60 in 1.66 seconds in this car lol. Civilians have already sent this down a prepped drag strip many times and it's not even close to that in the real world. A Rimac or a Plaid still easily beats this car thanks to nothing other than sheer consistency.

Everyone with a fast Dodge think they are driving it lol. Take away all the electronics and it will crash in 1.66 seconds. Cool car but I am sick of these small production runs making them fetch double msrp as they are no longer the American hot deal. There should be a Demon or C-8 Z06 or any car available from a dealer at msrp.

Lots of Demon 170 running low 9’s in the 1/4 mile consistently without having unlocked the launch controls. Once they do that and learn how to drive it these will have no problem hitting high 8’s or 9 flat. Too many people watch RUclips and they put some random homeless guy to drive the Demon then complain that it is not that fast. Real cars take real drivers, not everything is as boring as a coal powered, soulless car that you just push a button and it goes fast but can’t turn or stop.

$100k+? My 2015 Charger RT looks identical on the inside for the most part. I paid $31k new and modded it for a total of 45k with 1000+ hp twin turbo. Yes the 5.7 can put down some power too with forced induction. No issues after 30k miles with mods it's still going strong! Hemi love!
Hemi love 2004 Ram Rumbleee 5.7 daily driven since 2004 new no PROBLEMS in 20 years (with the Hemi)
For a $100k+, you could billet the whole powertrain and have the most sophisticated engine management system ever and have 3000hp+ and if you wait until black Friday you maybe able to do it twice and still have money left over to pay for all your doctor bills when that thing takes flight because your vehicle had an identity crisis and forgot it was a car for a second and started to take off like an airplane.
1000+ hp my ass for 14k more. That tranny would be toast among other things.

This is consistent with Dragtimes Plaid vs 170. 3 races in a row. The Plaid completely killed the 170 in all 3 races even though the 170 had E85 and it was on a prepped track. It came nowhere near the claimed performance spec.
plaid is electric, doesnt shift, and uses a battery. theres no point talking about an electric car beating a gas car

@@sossysam Agree it's kind of pointless. Dodge claims 1.66 on E85 and prepped track but it can't get anywhere near close to that even with an expert driver as in the Dragtimes examples.

The Demon is only rear wheel drive and steamroller sized slicks and a ripped out interior from the factory isn't enough to get it anywhere near it's promised performance on E85 and a prepped track while the tesla kicks its but because it's AWD and has regular sized tires and a full interior?

So, advertised as 1.66 second 0 to 60, but the best you'll get is 3.3. Unless you're on a perfectly prepped drag strip, and the planets align. 😆

The display on the Uconnect unit sucks. Even the one in this car will decay very soon and will need service or replacement. I hope they come up with a solution to upgrade OEM Uconnect units.

Tires aren't spinning. The traction control light is indicating that slip is imminent so the car's cutting power in order to prevent the car from burning out.

Not available from dodge anymore They killed the hemi. Last call days over. Still a few new ones out there but most are spoken for, with outrageous adms paid. Because that's it folks

That’s one of my dream cars but I wish they would have made the ac vents a tad bit smaller and made that touch screen a little bit bigger especially in a car that is that expensive. Dodge has some of the most bad ass interiors as far as the domestics go in my opinion.

Te electrics have no heart, no feeling. A super fast cordless drill does not impress. Cars like the Demon 170 are as much an emotional experience as it is an assault on the senses.

Probably will never even get the opportunity to ride in a 170, but I can dream. I was on a Top Fuel nostalgia drag race team for three years. Didn't drive, just crewed. This is one very cool machine. Why the owner added rear seats? Ain't nobody using those tiny rear seats. Plus it'll add more weight
When the original Demon launched in 2018, Dodge was claiming a 9:65 second 1/4 mile @ 140 m.p.h. if memory serves me. That too was with perfect air and a prepped track with seat delete and the skinny front tires and the 840 h.p. tune. I believe Herman, from Demonology took a whole lot of trips to achieve those numbers. I think he achieved it but not positive. I know others never achieved those numbers. The Tesla Plaid seems to have no problem knocking off 9.2 sec 150 m.p.h. 1/4 mile times.

There are aftermarket companies that make paddles that simply attach on to the factory paddles. Multiple sizes to choose from. Whatever you fancy. Inexpensive too.

Just watched a Ferrari 812 blow the doors off of a 170. Not a dragstrip which is the only place for a car like this. Overpowered without AWD.

No doubt it’s fast, but the 0-60 run starts somewhere like 5:16 and ends up around 5:20 so I don’t get where 1.66 comes in, it’s more like double that

My Dad just bought a beautiful Atlas Blue, Black Edition, lowered Ford F-150 705hp FP700 for $62k!
A 3.0 Wipple Supercharger on that 5.0 Coyote Engine, 10sp tranny that runs at normal temps here in Hot Sunny SE Texas, 22" Nito's, rear diff locker, a very loud Magna Flow Exhaust System & it's super fast! Also got a 8yr 100k warranty at any Ford dealership.
She's hard to not break loose, mainly because it's so light.
I'm a Chevy guy myself & wish they would make something affordable that had over 700hp..
At the end of day it’s still a FORD, lol. I’m a Chevy & Dodge guy, got 1 of each, both have the advantages
