Loved this challenge. Despite needing to thank Andy for saving her from utter disaster I have to say Anna’s performance here is very impressive. More than 7 miles in an hour with crossings and a crowded market to negotiate is top running.
Hey guys, I'm a deaf marathon runner and love your videos. They are not really accessible for me though due to the horrible automatic subtitles - although in this video they're quite okay. Is there any way you could put the subtitles in the videos? Atm I'm asking friends to translate or guess if the subtitles are not correct but as English is not my native language, reading lips is quite impossible.
Hi Ophelia, thanks for watching & I’m so sorry the experience isn’t very good with the automatic subtitles. We do try to professionally subtitle some of our videos, and will look into adding them on more and more of our content. Hopefully you won’t have to wait too long!
@@runningchannel Thank you so much for the fast reply. I've messaged a couple youtubers me and other deaf people enjoy and so far you are the first ones to reply at all. Looking forward to it!
@@runningchannel Hi guys...I would be willing to help with transcription if need be...you would just need to brief me on formats & timeframes though...but I would love to help and be more involved in helping the channel and its runners! Greetings from South Africa 🇿🇦
Great post. I'd suggest it's not just for the hard of hearing. It would also be for non-native speakers (or even non-British native speakers!) who might not catch 100% of what is said.
Great job guys but wow rick you truly sound and look pissed dude. Any idea of what your cadence was rick? It really looked a lot slower than Anna’s and maybe that’s why.
Oh guys. How I wish I could be there. I have my cancer op in 4 weeks so I’ll be recovering. By the time I’m ready to run again it’s going to be back to basics. I’m still running vicariously through you Anna, so in spirit I’ll be running with team Anna. Great channel keep it up guys. Xx
Hey Rob, I was scrolling through the comments and my eye fell on yours...I want to wish you all the best with your upcoming surgery. Cancer has had a profound and sometimes devastating effect on my family over the past 20 years or so...I'm really holding thumbs for you that the operation will be a resounding success and that you'll be back to your best in no time! Happy trails from South Africa 🇿🇦
@@grahamhowes3912 You are awesome, Graham. I was reading your replies in the comments section. You care for your fellow beings even if you dont know them... God bless you all
Love it! Clearly I’m with Team Rick..... although Anna didn’t do badly.... apart from doing a loop round St Paul’s. I live in Spain otherwise I’d love to join in. Good luck to both of you in April. Cracking pace(s) through central London, well done.
We all know Anna is a much faster runner than Rick but I'm trying to rationalise how she beat him by such a big margin. Here are my thoughts. 1. She's a faster runner. 2. She ran a straighter route with fewer stoppages. 3. She ran from west to east so had more of a following wind. 4. She ran from west to east which is also, on average, downhill.
Flipping loved this! Great idea, great video. I won't be able to join you in London (I'll be in Mexico) but i'll deffo be there in spirit and try to do an hour while I'm away.
First of all, brilliant video, guys! Considering the number of unavoidable stops and delays crossing roads etc. regardless of actual routes chosen, impressive pace and straight-line distance covered, well done to both of you (especially Anna!).. Sorry Rick, but you should have realised that heading due North would result in maximizing elevation gain.
No doubt the best You Tube video ever! I came in after a total s#*t day at work and a cold 15K in the dark and this totally turned it all around for me. Thanks Running Channel for reminding us all that running is so much more than training for a race it is supposed to be fun! I only wish I could be there for the challenge (stateside) what fun it will be. Cheers! Oh, Team Anna of course sorry Rick.
Took me a minute to get “as the crow flys” as we do not use that term in 🇨🇦 Canada - but I love it! I liked Anna’s original plan of running loops! Go team Anna😉and all the best to Rick!
Being chased by Rick would get me running fast as well...... Anna you're hilarious, I wish Andy would have let you run laps for an hour haha! Seriously great effort both of you. This video was so much fun, Nice win Anna :)
St Paul's used to be the mid-point on my one hour runs! I would have crossed the river then headed east - some nice fast, flat, pretty straight roads with the Thames on your left to keep your bearings.
Brilliant, love the challenge and i am up for joining #teamanna on the 5th April, sorry Rick, i am just too worried that you might be wearing the too short shorts again 😀
This was great as per usual. I love both of you. That was quite a win for Anna though so I’m worried about Ricks chances. If my name was Rick I’d be tempted to fly over to take his place but sadly I’m a Steve
Already doing an event this weekend otherwise I'd love to come down and run with my Heroes. Obviously I'd be #TeamRick as I always root for the underdog ;) ;)
Great idea for a challenge and looked like fun. If I was rick I would be asking for a stewards enquiry into that result. Anna would still be running in circles if Andy hadn’t given her a clue 😀 #teamanna
Nice vid :) I’d have gone to the river, crossed at tower bridge then eastwards along all the big roads. They’re a lot less busy and not many crossings!
Really wish I could've been there. I finished my first half last week. And Sincerely thank you to this channel for giving my guidance. Loved all the videos and keep em coming!!!!
Fantastic fun! I am Anna - in the 'not memorising the rules of the race' department. I am Rick - in the 'no way you won that' with 'incredulous expression on face' department. I am useless (no, not 'could do better' , I mean useless) even with a smartphone (with Locus maps inc. off road footpaths) and a Garmin Fenix 5 (with onboard maps). I can and have become lost whilst taking a dog for a walk when less than half a mile from home. I am often to be found stumbling through fields attempting to find the footpath and the next stile.
Nice challenge 😄, I think I’d completely suck at it through lack of sense of direction though. I could do about 6/6.5 miles in the hour but would be lucky to be 3 miles away without Google Maps!
That was a classic! Anna you started off like a chicken with no head but finished like a soaring eagle, well done. Rick you did ok as well, but mate for part 2 light your ass on fire and MOVE, good luck to both, cheers Enzo.
Great Challenge and the first for 2020 for The Running Channel. I’m with Team Andy as he ran and supported you both on you’re runs. How were the new runners that you got? Good luck for Part 2 Team Anna and Team Rick 👊👊
That moment when Rick realises Anna's crow's flight distance is longer than his total run distance is priceless 😂
🤣🤣🤣
🧐 If Andy hadn't intervened Anna would be about 200 yards from St Paul's as the crow flies ! Good luck to you to both on the day
More of this! It's the running channels version of the Top Gear challenges!
#teamanna
Thanks Richard! It was a lot of fun - stay tuned for more!
Loving these vids also Richard!
Loved this challenge. Despite needing to thank Andy for saving her from utter disaster I have to say Anna’s performance here is very impressive. More than 7 miles in an hour with crossings and a crowded market to negotiate is top running.
Good to see Andy running again, hopefully he can reset his 5k challenge and finish that series.
Thanks! Andy
This is Andy's walking pace!
Aw Ricks little face when he heard the results 😂 Great challenge guys.

“I haven’t seen any puppies...” instant classic. #TeamAnna. Great job both of you!
How nice seeing you both together!
Brilliant race. Loved the bantering. Well done.
Great job guys but wow rick you truly sound and look pissed dude. Any idea of what your cadence was rick? It really looked a lot slower than Anna’s and maybe that’s why.
This is great. Bringing some real fun into running!
love it, well done Anna. Love Andy's calm approach to pointing out a slight issue at the start as well haha.
Thank you! 🤣

I'd have picked East because I know that area quite well!
Thanks Neal!
Fantastic video. Well done Anna, genuinely surprised how fast you are. Maybe I should try adopting the twinkle toes style.
Reminds me of why I choose to run at 0500! I have the roads to myself!
Congratulations Anna on the win of an interesting challenge!
That was so fun to watch! Team Anna here, but Team Rick is pretty cool, too. Great job, guys-you’re the best!
Really cool challenge ! Running with no pacing can be really tricky !
Definitely!
Lol Rick's face when he finds out Anna won. Love you guys! You are awesome.
Yes, well done Anna. Your love of dogs is relatable as I'm already excited at seeing them lining the Great North Run route in September! 😃
That was great guys, loved it!!! Well done to Anna, Rick, get your scates on bro lol. Good fun.

Awesome 👏🏽. I love you guys all the way from Virginia USA 🇺🇸. So want to do this race next year. On my bucket list.
Thanks Tonisha - we need to get stateside soon!
Love this. You guys make running fun! Hello from California, USA.
Hi Vanessa! Thank you!
Loved this challenge! I'm Team Anna, but it all would have gone pear-shaped if not for the reminder of how the actual challenge worked. LOL
Thanks Andy! Rick is desperate to get his own back in part 2!
Go both of you! An hour TT is a great achievable challenge for anyone!
Thank you!
I had my first 1hour run last September. Interesting approach and I think I can do much more these days.
I love that Rick keeps everything simple “north north north” 😂
Don't catch a grippe folks! that looks chilly stopping dead in that cold air at 0:00.... what a hoot. Fun fun.
Flipping loved this! Great idea, great video. I won't be able to join you in London (I'll be in Mexico) but i'll deffo be there in spirit and try to do an hour while I'm away.

Thanks Keith! Yep, Rick only has himself to blame! Andy
Rick, maybe you need to cry more whilst you’re running. Seems to work for Anna. Love the channel guys. Keep it up!
😂

Thanks Kevin, what an awesome message - you’ve made our day! 🙏🏼
Hahahahaha I enjoyed watching the runs very much. Thank you for sharing. You both are winners. :)
Glad you enjoyed it
I was rooting for Anna and was genuinely happy when she won
This was so enjoyable! Strong finish by Anna! Very impressive!
It was so exciting to watch u both run with full vigour. Congrats, Anna, on ur win, u re indeed a nice runner.
Took me a minute to get “as the crow flys” as we do not use that term in 🇨🇦 Canada - but I love it! I liked Anna’s original plan of running loops! Go team Anna😉and all the best to Rick!
Thanks Lisa!
We definitely use that term here in Canada. It’s not another planet.
We use it in the US. But I think it’s an older expression. So depends who you grew up around... it’s a very useful expression at times though.
Being chased by Rick would get me running fast as well...... Anna you're hilarious, I wish Andy would have let you run laps for an hour haha! Seriously great effort both of you. This video was so much fun, Nice win Anna :)
Thanks Craig! 🙏🏼
This was awesome, I thought I was watching Taskmaster! Good luck in the real thing!
I LOVE taskmaster! Andy
Loved this! I smiled throughout the whole video. More of this content please 😊
Thanks Tori! Watch this space!
St Paul's used to be the mid-point on my one hour runs! I would have crossed the river then headed east - some nice fast, flat, pretty straight roads with the Thames on your left to keep your bearings.
Insider knowledge!
Love it. What's the best that would have been possible? Think I'd have tried to find the river and then run east, taking a shortcut past canary wharf.
Funniest Running Channel video so far! Looking forward to Part II
Brilliant, love the challenge and i am up for joining #teamanna on the 5th April, sorry Rick, i am just too worried that you might be wearing the too short shorts again 😀
Don’t tempt him! 🤣
This video was AWESOME!!! More of this type of stuff.
Elites can run 10-13 miles in an hour, but they are crazy! You guys are awsome!
Thanks for watching!
This was great as per usual. I love both of you. That was quite a win for Anna though so I’m worried about Ricks chances. If my name was Rick I’d be tempted to fly over to take his place but sadly I’m a Steve
Great video, you guys make brilliant mile by mile race/out running videos! Team anna everyday of the week and twice on a Sunday! 🏃♀️👍
Thanks James 🙏🏼
This was so much fun to watch! Wish I could hop the pond and run this! Team Anna all the way 💪🏼
Thanks Amanda - we’ll have to get over the pond soon too!
That was awesome 👍 need more of this and in random locations not just London
#teamanna 💪🏃♀️💨
Team Rick here.. despite I absolutely love Anna
She got a little emotional at the end of her run 🏃♀️ #teamanna
The look on Ricks face at the end is priceless 🤣🤣

Thanks Rob! 🙏🏼
This is a really fun challenge. I would join but I'm so far away in Australia.
Team Anna for me
I just loved it!!! Another great video!
You two are hilarious!
Glad I dont live in London crossing roads is a nightmare walking let alone running!
Great idea for a challenge and looked like fun. If I was rick I would be asking for a stewards enquiry into that result. Anna would still be running in circles if Andy hadn’t given her a clue 😀 #teamanna
This is amazing also makes me not want to run in London at all. So many crossings 😂
This looked like good old fashion fun. I'm cheering for team Running Channel. Sorry about the hills near the end of the run Rick.
Thanks Mike! 🙏🏼
Err ... why didn’t you just
run downstream along the Thames path?
Love it! Would love to be there but I have my first marathon in Manchester. However it’s #teamanna all the way!
I love this concept. And I am with Anna, but I havent watched yet!
Nice vid :) I’d have gone to the river, crossed at tower bridge then eastwards along all the big roads. They’re a lot less busy and not many crossings!
Love the concept. Now to watch it...
Does Ana ever NOT say hello to dogs that she comes across ? :)
Nope...
Aww good luck, sadly I have Reading Half marathon on 5th April
Thanks Emily - good luck to you too!
I love in the North East or I would have loved this. Good luck both. Aww Rick's face man...
Really wish I could've been there. I finished my first half last week. And Sincerely thank you to this channel for giving my guidance. Loved all the videos and keep em coming!!!!
Thanks for watching!
Rick blame the damn hill :) - It was so steep you starting running backwards. Love the challenge! Will there be a forfeit for the loser?
This was brilliant 😂😂
When oh when is someone going to hand me a pair of Adidas with a note in them?! size 13 btw ;) love this video!
Great race!! Fun to watch! 🙃😚
Thanks!
Love to be with on the day but running the Berlin half. Good luck to you both.
Good luck in Berlin Anthony!
Best video so far. Really appreciate that one. Well done all.
Thanks Alan! 🙏🏼
😂😂 great fun... Oh the hill rick.. the brain didn’t want that to happen 😂😂

Oh dear haha! Not everyone has a good sense of direction!
I did think "oh Anna, you plum!" when you started off running loops but what a great decision to run east with straighter roads. Go #TeamAnna
#TeamAndy 🤣
Good luck on the run, you guys! I'll be cheering from across the globe 🇵🇭
Thank you!
Enjoying the pronunciation of the brand! :) different in the US., and hey! it wasn't life and death you both won.

Totes #teamrich - Where would Anna have been with the little tip-off? Still Feeding the Birds on the steps of St.Pauls! X
Yikes, way more miles than I thought it'd be. Congrats!
Great challenge! To be fair Anna would have just ran around in circles if it wasn't for the help at the start 😂 #teamrick
Would love to be a part of this, but I’ll be in Manchester running the marathon on that date. Good luck to all that take part though 🏃🏻♂️🏃🏻♂️
All the best for Manchester Barry!
I got to 9.5 last year. Loved it. Want to do it again but Manchester marathon is on the same day :-(
Good luck in Manchester!
