Felt so sorry for you Anna. I guess it's hit you harder because you're so sociable! I just keep running every day, a minimum of 5km a day. I want to get up at sunrise next year on the longest day and go to bed at sunset! Not sure I could do this one though.

When I first saw Beau's video a few months ago I thought, "I'm going to do that!" I haven't yet and I'm glad to have been reminded of it.
My circumstances have changed in the last few weeks, I'm spending much more time alone and sometimes finding it harder to "see the potential of a day." I also really identify with what you said about "choice paralysis," this will be a great idea to try out when I have one of those full days on my own. I've already picked a day and put it in my calendar.
Really timely, thank you Anna, and well done!

I tried it a few days ago, didn't even know about the challenge. Completed 10am til 9pm which is 12 runs doing between 1km-1m. Wasn't too hard but kinda inconvenient as once you get back home you can relax for about 40-45 mins and back out :D Also did it on the hour every hour too.

Well done!! Crazy!!! I would find that hell. Funnily enough, I just finished reading, "Pedestrianism" by Matthew Algeo this week. It was a huge sport for a few decades in the 1800s. Ada Anderson did 2,700 quarter miles in 2,700 quarter hours at the end of 1878. I think she didn't take Sunday off, but other walkers did. Around the same time, Peter Van Ness tried to do 2,000 half miles in 2,000 half hours. 1,718 half miles in, he got a gun and shot his trainer (hit his arm) when he tried to make him carry on. The Police let him carry on instead of arresting him. In 1907, at 61, Dan O'Leary did 1,000 miles in 1,000 consecutive hours. The health risks to people doing such truly insane things were fully apparent in how they looked and acted, and it seems to have been a pretty grim spectacle at a lot of events. Personally, I would have needed 24 hours just to put the tent up!!

Brilliant. Well done, Anna. What a great idea.
I did a virtual event called P24 - The longest day.
Participants had to run the minimum distance of 1 mile, on the stoke of each hour, for 24 hours. Running just before, and after the hour to gain more recovery time was strictly forbidden. Each run had to be logged on their facebook page to make sure there was no cheating.
I ran 5k for 17 of the 24 hours and managed 65.9 miles in total. Thought it wouldn't be easy but it was actually much tougher than expected. I'd finish a run knowing there wasn't much recovery time before the next run had to be started.
I vowed 'never to do this event again' but time is a great healer so I might enter again.
Well done once again and keep up the awesome work.

Hey, The Running Channel! I discovered your channel by researching on how to do a half marathon. I started my training at the start of quarantine (I'm in Australia, Melbourne) and today was the big day. I did the half-marathon today with a time of 1:37:27 (4:38km/pace) and I'm 18 years old! Honestly, if it wasn't for these amazing videos and constant inspiration from you I don't think I can do it. This was the longest I've ever run and hoping next for a full marathon but today just a little rest :) thank you again.

As a mom of 4 (ages 8, 5, 4, and 13 months) I LOVE the quote at the end. There is certainly enough hours in the day to get everything done, so long as you make the time for them. I once said to someone how I buy chicken on the bone because I then use the bones to make stock for soup etc. They replied back with 'how on earth do you find the time to do all of that, I barely have the time to open a box of chicken fingers for dinner!'. My response was 'I don't find the time to do those things, I MAKE the time to do them!' My husband and I recently started a running group in our area of town that had no running group (there are lots, just all on the other end of the city and we were getting tired of driving 20km+ to go running with a group). The amount of feedback and turn out (20+ people every night) we've had has been amazing! SO many people telling us that they had been looking for a run group in our area - but my question is this, why did it take a busy couple with 4 kids to start a run group, when everyone who has come out has wanted this so badly as well? If you make the time to do the things you want to do -- it will always happen.
Thank you for this video. I'm really inspired to try this!

Congratulation Anna I’m actually thinking of trying the challenge in a few weeks ( just have to get it planned ), and thanks for reminding me about a tent I actually haven’t thought of that. And true the challenge is tough even that it’s just a mile every hour, but people forget that it’s tough specially because you get all those breaks so it’s harder to keep you warmed up all the time and keeping the rhythm/flow and ofc also tough on the energy front

The Day's high temp was 36. This killed me! Add the fact that the track is black, man that was draining.

Sadly (or perhaps luckily) minor setbacks on several occasions meant I had to bale out before even starting, so I never got around to it. I'd always thought a mile every hour would be easy, but your experience suggests I was significantly under estimating the challenge. Perhaps I'll try a 12 hour stint first!

Great video Anna and The Running Channel! I think the challenge in itself is by no means easy especially with the sleep deprivation( I would struggle 😂) Your videos are amazing especially during these difficult times, content is spot on. Whilst there is the lack of social interaction for runners at the moment your videos provide great motivation. 👏👏

Did a modified version when I first started running earlier this year. 3 mi an hour in under 12 hours. Never ran 26.2 mi in a week at that time, much less in a day. Boy, I learned the "increase your mileage gradually" advice the hard way, my foot hurts for a while and I couldn't run for two weeks😂 yeah, big dummy mistake but still a fun thing to accomplish

Hey Anna! You inspired me to give this a shot during quarantine!
Twice around my block ended up being about 1.25 miles, so I ran that every hour until I did a marathon. I'd never run like this before and I definitely came back to your video for motivation. 21 hours later (and 43 laps around the neighborhood), I'd run my first ever marathon! Might make myself a tinfoil medal to commemorate the occasion lol

    • @runningchannel

👍👍good stuff Ana. Sunrises are the best but I'm a early riser. Maybe try a progressive week run. Day 1 one mile / Day 2 four miles, keep doubling the day number so by day 7 you have a 14 mile run. Gives you a 55 mile week, just an idea
