Useful words! In Spanish it means slow, "lento"(masculine), "lenta" (feminine). It'll help me remember it.
Oh wow does it! :o
Same in Portuguese!!!
I like that Finnish compound nouns are quite logical. That makes it easier to learn new vocabulary.
It's nice right? You just stick words together :D
Kiitos Katya. I not only learn from your videos, but you always make me smile. A fun way to learn. ❤
Thank you so much :)
Greeting from the south of Gulf of Finland, Estonia! In Estonian we have the words lend(lendu in partitive) and lendama, with exactly the same origin and meanings! How similar we are!
Oh wow!

Glad to hear that, thank you so much!
Always support the people who help!

@@KatChatsFinnish kiitos paljon...😘
I had a conversation with a guy from Finland a few months ago - it is fairly common to meet Finnish people in Sweden, and they often understand Swedish - and I spoke a few Finnish sentences in front of him, and he said that my pronunciation was very good, so that was nice to hear. I am very familiar with the general melody of Finnish, so I can pronounce it in a way that sounds reasonably natural.
We actually went to watch the meteor shower you mentioned. And one other word with lento is lentoemäntä which I find very interesting. I remember it by imagining a flight attendant named Amanda
That's a good memory trick! 🤩
Keep on the good work, I'm new at learning finnish this helps me a lot... Hello from Nicaragua.
Thanks for watching! I'm glad my channel is helpful! :D

En ole kokenut tähdenlento ikinä🤧 Thanks for the video Kats💕
Toivottavasti näet sen joskus, ne ovat tosi kauniita 🤩 Kiitos!
kiitos paljon. شكرا كثير
Mua Rakastaan sua !you good girl realy !
❤
Kiitos paljon toiseasta upeasta videosta, *loistava Katja!* Fun fact: "Lento" means slow man/slow boy in Portuguese... A great contradiction considering how fast a plane can go... 🤦🏻😂🤣
Oh does it really?! That's kind of funny xD
@@KatChatsFinnish: That's real! BTW, thats one of the reasons why Finnish it's a very easy language to me, some words pronunciation are the same or sounds like in Portuguese and in Finnish!
Thank my teacher
wow! so interesting how the words are combined!
Also, I am curious about using "lentokenttä" - "airfield" usually means a military or a small airport which is used by amateur pilots on small airplanes, usually it doesn't have a building and an asphalt runway, there is a dirt runway and may be a hangar
Oh true, if you translate it directly into English it would sound like that. Lentokenttä is used just for regular airports here though :)
Even in italian, "lento" means "slow", identical pronounciation.
So beautiful! ♡
Thank you!
Depending on light pollution I'll see shooting stars. I'm in Washington State, USA. Only thing we don't get to see here is Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights). Have to go into Canada or to Alaska for those. Great Video, I don't think I'll forget what Lento means, I like Finnish because of the word-building aspect, and I'd like to be able to read some Finnish books that aren't in English, yet. Thanks for this video and many more I'm sure I'll be watching.
Oh thank you so much for the kind comment!
I have seen a number of tähdenlentot but the most memorable was when I was at a liikennevalo.
Several years ago I saw a shining green tähdenlento arcing downwards low over the horizon which disappeared behind the trees. I braced myself for a loud explosion but heard nothing. The next day the news reported that the tähdenlento was several hundred kilometers to the north from me. Many people saw the tähdenlento. It was not an omen. The world did not end, and no disaster came later.
Wow!!
I just discovered your channel and I love it!! Kiitos ❤
Awww thank you so much! ☺️ Kiitos paljon ✨
Kiitos paljon opin suomen autasina
Mä en lentänyt 😂. Anyways, your videos are helpful. Kiitos tosi paljon. Keep it up.
Kiitos paljon!

Eiks ole!! 🤩🤩
@@KatChatsFinnish juu😁😁😁✨✨✨💙
Kiitos paljon 👍🇫🇮
Kiitos :D
Kiitos paljon Kat! Do you have any videos about "smushing" words together like kuumailmapallo? When can/can't it be done?
make a verb series with all the verbs from different activities in different episodes please ^^
Do you have any top verb requests haha since there are a lot!
@@KatChatsFinnish let's start with Eat, Go, Speak, Do, and then pick an activity and move with it, like say topic is Cafe, then we learn about Eat, Ordering food, (what do you want to eat/drink)? Your favourite... Then the topic is like Shopping, so words will be like asking questions like "how much" or Buy/want to buy so and so forth... I still have problems with the minä puhun and me puhumme so if you can make sentence and diversify the sentence with 1st, 2st, 3rd person singular/plural it would be awesome... Also I love you pronounce way more comprehensive than my Suomi class
Kiitos.katchat
Very good.
Rakastan sinua 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Hehe kiitos
Two weeks ago I finally flew to .. (Sweden)🤦🏼♀️ little change of plans but . I watched a finnish comedy play there. And ofcourse I didn't understand everything but like 25 percent at least. 👍
In persain exist the word Aseman wich means Sky 😃, KONE as I know is a finnish famous company which is active in the field of Elevator. 😃💝
Oh that's interesting!
while googling words with "lento" i found "lentokonesuihkuturbiinimoottoriapumekaanikkoaliupseerioppilas" described as the longest finnish word. is that true? would any finn even use that word in daily speech?
Definitely not haha!

❤❤❤
Does a balloon really fly? Or does it just float?
Then i would say hey look Timmy in sky a red balloon is floating over the ship
I know kind of buoyancy thing happens to balloon but yeah fly make more sense in language i guess even though i don't know much about it
Moi, I'd just like to add that meteor showers are global events, not local.
Also highly recommend going out on a clear night to a dark place, look up and just wait. they are beautiful!
They sure are 🤩
Seeing a shooting star in my neck of the woods is a fairly rare occurrence--but I'm so old, I've seen quite a few. Pronouncing "star" like "shtar" makes it sound like Kat is either trying to speak German or Gaelic. Does a balloon really fly? Or does it just float?
I guess in English it doesn't sound so good, but in Finnish you would use "ilmapallo lentää" but of course you could say "ilmapallo leiijuu" but it's not that commonly used
@@KatChatsFinnish If it's filled with helium it could fly, other balloons too if it's windy. You may need some weight tied to the helium ball so it floats rather than flies. Ans speaking of leijua - leija (kite) lentää. Poika lennättää leijaa. Just another nice grammar feature there. Also, people speak like they're flying if they're taking a plane somewhere, even if they're just passengers. Well, coming with "loppui kuin kananlento" I suppose almost any kind of moving in the air tends to count as flying. Including ski jumpers. Staying still (tied up maybe) is floating. We had floating paperclips in physics class once.
I wanna learn Finnish but I am a million dollars in debt. What do I do?? By the way, I you American of Finnish descent>?
😄😄
nice , ma tykkan susta
mä olin lentokentalla viimessa kuukaudessa.
I bet the similarity between "lento" and "lintu" is not a coincidence.
Jep both flies in sky
I love u ❤️
^-^

Sorry for the digression, but I find all this very interesting, so I have to: in Sweden we have a (hockey) general manager called Per Kenttä, and when you mentioned kenttä I felt it makes sense, because fält (Swedish for field) is also a not entirely uncommon last name to have in Swedish. For example, on the usual theme, there is a hockey player called Elias Fälth (where the extra h is just stylish, basically), who played a few years for my hometown team. In the old days, a few hundred years ago or so, Swedish soldiers where given "soldier names", some of which were associated to the places where the soldiers were stationed (other names were based on soldiers' attributes, battle, tools/weapons, or nature in general). This also in Finland, which was part of Sweden back then. Compare as an example with Runeberg's epos "Fänrik Ståls sägner" from around this time, in which we meet Sven Duva - duva is dove - and fänrik Stål himself - stål is steel. I guess Per's family could have gotten its name in this way, or just in Finnish directly. Kenttä himself is from the north, born in Umeå and raised in Haparanda, which is very close to Finland. Every day you learn something new! Thanks!
Oh wow that is an interesting string of information! Thank you so much for sharing it!
