It depends a lot on what games you play and what resolution you will be playing them at. A general recommendation for 1440P gaming right now for your budget would be the Ryzen 5 7600 or 7600X as they will give you a ton of room in your budget to put towards your GPU. You could pair either with something like an RX 7900 XT or RTX 4070 Ti Super. You could probably fit a Ryzen 7 7800X3D into a $1,500 budget but it would mean a GPU downgrade. For 1080P gaming, that wouldn't be bad, though, and you could probably pair a 7800X3D with something like a 7800 XT, 7900 GRE, or RTX 4070 for ideal 1080P performance. Note, though, that Ryzen 9000 series CPUs will be available in July---the 9600X may be an option for you, but the new launch might also mean price drops for the 7000-series, which may bring the 7800X3D + 7900 XT/RTX 4070 Ti Super closer to your price range.
How do I know a certain component will fit my tower case. For example!! I have a C case and I want to swap out a graphics card. I want a more powerful one and of course I have to know if power supply will be able to handle it .

I found one on sale for 230$. after learning all about Intels issues with stability and how power hungry the chips are I ended up switching it out for ryzen 9 7900. this is my first build so I don't really now how to troubleshoot and thought this option would be safer. the ryzen chip ended up costing 100$ more. 4 less cores as well. do you think the switch I made was justified?
