    Officially the craziest thing Coyote Peterson’s ever done: stick his arm into a box of 200 angry Yellowjackets.
    “Hey Coyote, will they still be angry at you if you stick your arm in the box after 15 minutes?”
    Yeah Coyote. Yeah they will.
    If you’ve ever wondered what would happen if you stuck your arm in a Yellowjacket nest,... here’s your answer! You’re welcome.
    Honestly, how much do you think this man’s insurance plan costs? It’s downright ridiculous.
    Anyway… Coyote vs 200 YellowJackets. Guess what happens.
    IMPORTANT: Risk of allergic reaction or anaphylaxis is possible after receiving a sting from any stinging insect. Call 911 or other emergency services if you're having a serious reaction to an insect sting. Do not try this at home.

    What's up Coyote Pack and Brave Crew - CP here, hope you enjoyed the video but I have to be honest, this one went in a direction we never imagined would turn out so painful. I have done some crazy things over the years while enduring some insane levels of pain but taking this many stings at once was next level. I want to remind everyone that Yellow Jackets are a species that can be found right in your own backyard so please be careful if you notice a nest never approach or antagonize these easily angered little buggers!

The stingers still hurt, like any puncture would, but I don't get any swelling and barely any inflammation of the skin, even in sensitive areas such as the face and once even the nipple. I got swarmed by wasps around age 8-9, and it was incredibly traumatic. It's been over 20 years now and I still vividly remember how it felt. My dad and my sister were swarmep at the same time, and after escaping them, my dad had to try and get any off of us that were stuck in our clothes, then find the nearest chemist to get antihistamine for us ASAP. The headache, the nausea, the tachycardia, the swelling and burning, and getting these twinges of electric shocks at every sting. My whole body would spasm randomly for hours, then it would itch but your couldn't scratch it because it was like stinging yourself. -10/10 would never recommend

      Disturb a nest ? Wtf you think is gonna happen?

    • @NiaJustNia
      @NiaJustNia 8 месяцев назад

      @@paulwalsh6734 The nest we disturbed was pretty much invisible inside an embankment. Basically my sister hit a fern out of the way with a stick like if she was sweeping the path, and the vibration was somehow just enough to disturb them. It was in the late autumn when they were in hibernation, so there wasn't any flying around back and forth to indicate a nest at all. My sister was terrified of wasps after getting swarmed at around 18 months old after being left unattended by our mother, and had been told that getting stung again had a high chance of triggering anaphylaxis, so she had grown up petrified of them. If she'd seen even one, she wouldn't have even walked on that path, she'd have had a meltdown and refused to go.
      I think the fact they were still so drowsy is the only reason the injuries weren't worse. Some even fell asleep in the wrinkles of our clothes, and many didn't manage to give a full venom dose. It's like if it was mid summer, we'd probably have been screwed, but it also probably wouldn't have happened at all because we'd have known about the nest because of active wasps

They just like their space and, unlike bees, can sting multiple times. (Believe me, if bees didnt die after just one, theyd sting as often as wasps!)

When taking a sting, your body attempts to neutralize the proteins in the venom and slow its progress through your body (hence why its important to stay calm after a venomous sting or bite). Tips: If you are in a wooded area and disturb a yellow jacket nest, you may be able to shorten the chase distance by ducking through foliage. In my experience, they chase farther over open ground, but not as far through dense foliage. The other side of that coin is that you are more likely to encounter another nest in a wooded area than on a trail or road.
    If you are on a trail, fail forward - run in the direction you were going anyway, otherwise you'll have to wait a long time for the nest to calm down, and any pheromones you got on you may only antagonize them faster. It also helps to be near the front when hiking in a group. Whatever is lurking on the side of the trail is more likely to strike or sting after a few people have passed unmolested.
    Finally, I'm not sure if this holds for yellow jacket venom, but bee stings are a cure for some kinds of arthritis. I think Coyote may be able to check arthritis off of his list of worries.

      I went 18 years without getting stung by any flying insect, until I went on a school hiking trip and walked straight into a beehive hidden under a low branch. Got hit four times on the back, and half my class saw it happen. 😅 Fortunately, the bees were just Asian honeybees so it wasn’t that bad. The four stings together hurt about as much as a intramuscular tetanus shot.

      I think my streak is about 3 years of not being stung now, but the last one sucked, it wasn’t a Yellow Jacket, thank god, but it was a Mud Dauber, living in FL makes it pretty difficult to not at least run across a nest of wasps but I was doing a job for an old lady one day where i was cleaning out some old outdoor kennels of hers, and out of nowhere a Mud Dauber flew up and stung me square in my FACE. Thankfully, the pain was very tolerable and was just annoying to me but the swelling sucked the most. I live in the woods now where there are plenty of Flying Insects around to sting you but i’ve managed to avoid angering them to the point of a sting.
