Hollywood Hulk Hogan is easily one of wrestling's most important superstars. He became a household name during his time in the WWF, he surprised everyone when he jumped to WCW, and he made history when he formed the nWo along with Kevin Nash and Scott Hall. Hulk Hogan also likes to talk, and usually when he talks he talks in-character; this WCW Superstar Series video tape features Hogan talking in-character quite a lot so let's hear what The Hulkster has to say to all his Hulkamaniacs and nWo-ites!

Hollywood was the real Terry to me.. As you get older and listen to old and new interviews then it becomes clear that Hollywood Hogan was an offshoot of Terry Bollea..

So, according to IMDb, this came out stateside on September 21st, 1999... or, about a month and a half *after* Hogan's face turn on the August 9th episode of Nitro. Such a timely release, WCW (let alone the international releases)!

This man is the only reason Brutus Beefcake/Zodiac/The Apostle/any other terrible gimmick he was stuck with worked in pro wrestling for as long as he did. Bischoff fired him multiple times and Hogan got him rehired with a raise each time. Thats the kind of stroke Hogan had

I think this watchalong format works pretty well and I imagine the production is a little bit easier than a fully scripted and heavily edited video.

Definitely feels like this was a one-take situation. They just wanted to film this nonsense and get outta there. I'm picturing the producer on set like, "Did he just say slowly but slowly? eh, not worth it. Alright, guys, that's a wrap on the Harley segment, take 5."
This was probably recorded on videotape, and they definitely didn't do more than 2 takes of anything.
We absolutely need more of these, with all the work you put into your other video's its great to just chill and have a laugh with these watch alongs.

The "The WCW" counter has me in stitches. Love it. Would love to see Sting Unmasked with your commentary because if I remember correctly, Sting seems to waffle back and forth between Kayfabe and not and it's funny given how deep into the Crow thing he was at the time.

Oh man, I had all these WCW Superstar Series tapes! I watched them all the time when I was in high school!
Though I ain't gonna lie, while I probably would feel ripped off if I bought this at VHS price, but as pre-taped segments for TV it would've been quite interesting. Certainly would've been better than most of what passed as angle in 1999.

Coz Hollywood is a verb (metaphor if you will) as well as a pronoun. Plus it's just down the coast from his home town - Venice beach

I remember being so excited to buy this VHS when it came out at my local coconuts record store and I thought it would be similar to the old hulkamania WWF tapes, but no it was weird. And Hogan's shift to low energy when he's back in the house was odd. The editing was terrible compared to WWF releases at the time. But I'm not going to lie you putting thunder in Paradise over him on his boat made me smile.

Hulk Hogan's 1996 heel turn was awesome but by the end of 1996 it had already gone stale because everytime Hogan picked up a microphone it was the bash at the beach promo all over again with a word changed here and there
