I'll take my Losi 8IGHT XE/XTE RTR any day over this! Spektrum electronics and TLR suspension/chassis tuning over Traxxas. I understand there is a $100 price difference on the 4S models but I trust Losi electronics way more than Traxxas, plus I can bind my DX remote to the Losi out of the box. "Budget" oriented Traxxas models in my opinion tend to be more headache than they are worth, Traxxas has mastered the art of incentivizing people to upgrade cars, to the point where regular use requires them. That car will not do 60mph without the speed gear, that you can't run on the track, meanwhile the Losi will do 55mph all day without overheating
$805 Australian before all the import taxes and everything meaning it'll almost certainly be over $1000 here, I'm glad there are some decent companies like Team Corally selling cars like the Syncro4 for literally half the price and basically everything is way better than traxxas parts, the Syncro4 even comes with the TC 6s drivetrain👌
@DoRC yes I know I have a few Corally vehicles now, but the older drivetrain is still far stronger than this traxxas drivetrain, main point being this thing is just too expensive having a 3s drivetrain because they are quite vulnerable on 4s.
_This is Traxxas again trying to draw blood from a turnip!_ _A turnip cannot be coaxed, squeezed, or cajoled into producing blood. All efforts at obtaining blood from this vegetable would be futile. Yeah I think unless you're just going to be casually racing and mostly bashing your best off either building a kit or if you're on a budget just buy someone's roller from last year. Whenever a new model comes out there's always people selling the previous generation for peanuts.
I'd go fot the Typhon 6s before this one. More power for about the same price. And from the l9oks of it, the Typhon is built tougher. I have a Typhon 6s TLR and i lov3 it.
The Typhoon is a phenomenal vechile. It is a handful on 6s but once you get comfortable with it you have a vechile capable of nearly 80 mph. Given how well the 4s system in the Maxx does, I would have thought that given this is a lighter vechile, it would really rip. That said, it looks like they used a lesser system so your probably not gonna see something on par with the Redcat Valkyrie let alone a Typhoon. That said, the Diehard Traxxas folks like that fellow Mark Santa something will be talking this up like as being the best buggy that a manufacturer has ever released and the reason you pay $225 dollars more for this is because it is Traxxas tough. Never mind the fact that you end up having to pay $900, $400 in upgrades just to get it to be on par with something like a $500 Typhoon.
@EVERYONEPOOS123 that's me also, I was waiting for him to talk about it, and the fact that he doesn't have one on his possession shows that he's not shilling for the corporate over lords, so he can be honest.
Another Plastic Fantastic with a good distribution channel. They manage to cut costs better than anyone while having decent marketing. This is for bashers and the youtubers who get mailed free cars and release a video on the same day.
That price is insanely hard to justify for what you're getting, even the biggest traxxas supporters are gonna have a hard time defending this, theres just better things you can get for a similar or even cheaper price
For sure. I'm certain there are plenty of people that will buy this car and they'll enjoy it. I'm sure it's a good car but yeah it will be hard for a lot of people to justify
These new RC releases that I've been seeing have brought something to my attention. Most people in the hobby are spoiled by things we've gotten in the past and really aren't appreciating the new things that we're getting, but I guess time will tell.
I think people do appreciate the new things It's just when they are priced higher than anything else in their segment it tends to turn some people off.
$529 is too much for this buggy. Like you said, that puts it in the 6S basher price point. Arrma Typhon 6S, Team Corally Spark 6S, HPI Vorza Flux 6S, ect. All of these other options have more power, better electronics, better chassis, and more adjustments. I want to like this car, but for that price point, I would be looking at Team Corally. Maybe even the Asuga XLR that is on sale for $559. Just to much plastic for that price. Especially the plastic CVDs.
I received my Dhk optimus yesterday, and I got it for $194. The brushless system is not good, but you can upgrade for more power. Is an old rc, but for me, great. If you want, you can hunt for hidden gems
@ just spoke to my hobby shop. It’s due to shipping and in order to get them to the shops when they want, they are sending them on planes instead of boats which drives the cost up. It’s not a permanent price but it’s traxxas, we will see
In recent news, the mini Maxx just got a price hike before it ever reached stores. $269. I was on the fence before but hell no. I’ll wait and buy one used for 150.
Finally, someone who honestly calls it how they see it and is not afraid to point out some of the short comings of this platform. Bit of a redemption from that 2s entry level version... I guess?
Yeah it definitely is better than the 2S version I just am really not sure who this is marketed toward. Racers are going to want better electronics and more adjustability and bashers are probably not going to want to spend $530 for a 1/8 scale scale buggy. That being said Traxxas knows how to make money so they probably know better than me.
Anyone looking for a 1/8 scale buggy, just buy a TLR Tuned TYPHON 6S 4WD BLX Buggy RTR. For what Traxxas is charging for this is insane and not even include adjustable links etc. You would need to spend another $300-$400 just to get this VXL model up to the stock level of a TLR Typhoon
Too much for what it is. I like Traxxas, but man are they starting to get out of touch. A lot of my vehicles are Losi and Associated these days. As for bashing, there's nothing saying you can't use a race spec vehicle. I have a B6.4D that I bash and it has held up fine. This new Jato is one of those vehicles that if you got it as a gift it would be great, but buying it yourself seems like there would be many better options.
I kind of accepted crazy prices when i got into the hobby.. and im actually a pretty big traxxas fan as much as any other brand.. but they definitely need an electronics update... especially the transmitter.. ive personally never had issues with them myself i think they work well.. but at the same time.. a person can get really tired of buying the exact same thing.. cmon traxxas.. suprise us!!
@@basherz_den I justify the more expensive cost by the engineering of Traxxas, plus clipless bodies, every RC needs an upgrade to make them bulletproof. I got the Maxx and this year the Maxx Slash, I’ve never had problems with them, my outcast needed way more upgrades.
@jessejames2546 i do think traxxas is trying to find a sweet spot and just staying there.. because I agree.. I don't have many problems with my traxxas stuff and think they're smart staying with the plastic chassis and parts etc.. metal chassis on the arrma stuff makes them sooooo heavy and puts a lot of strain on everything especially if you're really out there sending em..
This being more expensive then the slash 4x4 ultimate is just a crime. Maybe if it had adjustable links and metal dog-bone driveshafts that price would be more justifiable. I think with the 4x4 3s chassis design Traxxas is really pushing it with 4s.
Nah, this is just Traxxas doing what Traxxas always does. Wring as much 💰out of their fan base as possible. As an example, when Arrma improved their 4s v2 line to the v2.5, they actually lowered the price.
To be fair Traxxas kind of seems to be doing their own thing. I do worry that them raising prices on everything's going to drag the rest of the market up though
At least if someone wanted the vxl, they don't have to wait long. Price is absurd, but they will still sell. What do you think about a vxl mini maxx being offered? I can't see them only offering that in the bl-2s.
I'm not sure. I suspect they'll offer some sort of upgraded minimax at some point simply because they already have all the upgrades available though I'm not sure what they'll call it. I don't think a VXL option is out of the question though
Probably a great car, just a poor value proposition. Unfortunate too, I was hoping that traxxas was on the right track after the Mini Maxx, still expensive, but more justifiable given the support.
It is a little odd. My guess is that they know most of the people buying this thing won't be using it for racing so would never adjust the turnbuckles anyway but it does seem like a pretty big omission
I’m not saying it’s bad the price is a little steep, I bought my Traxxas stamped 4x4 vxl about 11 years ago and it has lasted me all that time and I paid about $490 due to me saving for a long time, after all you don’t rake in a lot when you 7 years old, the point I’m getting at if it makes you happy and you enjoy it for years to come it might be worth it.
Absolutely. There are plenty of people that will buy this and plenty of people who will enjoy it. My biggest concern is that right now Traxxas seems to be doing their own thing price wise and I'm worried it's going to drag the rest of the market up with it
Someone else needs to make something absolutely groundbreaking to get traxxas to do their best to make good cars affordable to. We just need some competition to start to get the prices down.
So talking in traxxas dollars here, it would cost about $160 to bring the BL-2s to the vxl spec excluding the tires and electronics. So at that point you’re sort of paying $50 for the upgrade to vxl 4s. Granted you lose out on old parts you could make some money back on, but you also save a lot of time upgrading. The vxl 4s motor is reliable, but the esc is questionable. If I don’t end up getting the disruptor before, I could see myself grabbing the vxl one. Though I do wish they’d at least bring it down to 499. Good chance they might like they did with the raptor r
I keep a 10 foot pole between me and Traxxas. They’re never getting any of my money ever again.! I think you hit the nail on the head. They built this car so they could sell more upgrade parts and take your money. Too expensive!
I actually think this is more aimed at bashers than racers and four bashing, as long as you don't mind the price of entry and probably replacing the servo it does give you most of what you need
I watched this as I like DoRc, I'm not a fan of Traxxas due to the way they operate, this car further verifies this by taking the customer for granted and not supplying some of the obvious upgrades you highlighted. As you say, they will no doubt be optional upgrades you'll have to pay for, rather than supplying the best car they can out of the box. Think Arrma have this release beat.
@@DoRC Sounds like they have upgrades for every component of the car? 🤣As I say, a better car in the first place would be a better idea. If I were making cars, I'd want it to be the best it could possibly be out of the box. Upgrades would not be functional upgrades, just simply cosmetic. Thanks for replying mate, love your work, no one tears down and mods like you, keep up the good work.
as someone who races associated comp buggies i would like to see sway bars, and adjustable links at a minimum at this price. steel axles would be nice, but not necessary at first. the plastic diffs dont bother me though. my comp buggy has plastic diffs and ive never had issues out of them. the sway bars, and adjustable links would put it alot closer to that comp price range and a proper built comp buggy rtr can run you $2,000. so for a racer the price isnt great, but not terrible. for a back yard basher its a pretty steep price for sure, espacially compared to the other bashers out there at this price point. i personally would love to see traxxas release a comp ready buggy and get into the race scene.
Yeah if this seemed like it was designed as a racer I think the price would be a lot more justifiable but it feels like basher with the price of a racer
The tlr is 419 the rtr 6s typhon is 499 full 6s the syncro is 369 and dont forget they raised the price of the mini maxx 20 dollars i bet this is gonna shoot up to 550 to 560 plus tax your talking about tlr typhon prices crazy man crazy on top of that for the upgrades that itll need absolutely crazy
@ i agree but a 80 dollar difference then look what the tlr offers over the jato the fully aluminum threaded racing shocks and caps beefier drive train bigger gears maintenance and easier to work on better easier programable system and the versatility of the rig from a 100mph speedster to a high speed basher even components like the battery tray allowing you to fit a variety of lipo batteries its ridiculous the jato is close in price range having a plastic gear servo not even adjustable links a couple needed upgrades and youre looking at the same if not more money than a rtr tlr might aswell just buy one atp. just being honest now theres no excuse for the price to be cheaper cause the syncro 4 now that explains itself for being one of the most bang for your buck i like traxxas but they got me when i paid 700 for the maxx slash i was excited for this jato but after seeing the price at 550 which might even end up costing more like what we saw with the mini maxx jumping up an added 20 dollar over set price its way too much for a updated slash chasis with a wing and a buggy body it seems hard to work on too lol
Corally Syncro woops that a$$ And for way cheaper. Spark, Whoops that *** Arrma Typhon DESTROYES This.... Only thing it's got going is Traxxas Plastics for durability and being overpriced..... 2 things Traxxas is best at😂😂
I agree its priced a bit high, but as someone that has had high end cars and also built traxxas platforms up you can’t beat there availability of parts and durability and interchangeable parts, my traxxas cars never stay broken. Also for anyone that knows how to set up and tune properly, adjustable links and proper gearing don't cost much! Those drive shafts will have no problems holding up to buggy light weight wheels and are also the strongest to weight drives on the market ! there plastic is next level. It keeps the weight of the drive line down , that is the reason there is no need for heat sinks or a fan. Traxxas engineering is to quickly overlooked by people that only focus on anodized parts just my opinion 😎.
For the most part I agree but not when you take price in consideration. It would be fine if it had all of those things and was similarly priced to its competition but this is a 1/8 scale bashing buggy. You can buy the Typhon or the spark for less money and they both come with more features. I have no doubt that this car is going to be a good car and very durable but Traxxas has been in their own world price wise lately.
@DoRC Yeah for sure ! prices are getting ridiculous. My main complaint with traxxas is that you can't buy a roller build kit. You end up with a lot of rtr junk. Its a two edge sword.
They should have just thrown the racy bits in; adjustable turn buckles, tie rods and the 2075r (high speed, metal gear servo $50). I like it, but for $449 tops. $529~ track ready with adjustable turn buckles, tie rods, esc and motor fan, and that 2075r servo witch is pretty decent and dare i say a good servo on 7.4v I think they wanna do an ultimate version but they these features would make it too close. So sell them a big motor, track tires and aluminum shock + TRX tax and then sell them the serious parts as upgrades ($$) while reserving the marketability of an ULTIMATE model. Stop playin with us Traxxas!
I did a backslash 1/8 conversion years ago. They have done something alot of people have been asking them to do for a long time. Looks like I will now be able to get away from my losi cab forward body. No need to buy it since I already technically have it.
I’ll stick with a properly built backslash conversion for the price. Hopefully the rear shock mount will fit the slash because it has the built in wing mount
Wow yeah it should be named Conflicted lol. It would be interesting to see this in the hands of a pro and get their take on it - out of the box vs "tuned" to their liking.
Nice job breaking it down! I like, but too skimpy on the goods for the money. That's Typhon 6s money, TC Spark is considerably cheaper and IMO much better. Jato looks like a hard sell I feel.
Nice informative video again 👌💯. Looks like a dencent but overpriced rig imho 🤔. You could get two Carson Virus 4s capable for that amount of money and they would perform as good if not even better ... Anyways, thanks for the video 🙏🙏. Have a good one, keep it up and keep on bashing 🤜🤛🤘
@DoRC yeah, it's a German brand that's pretty lose to Tamiya and the Virus is pretty underrated imo. Got the 4.2 and despite it needing repairs 😇 she really ripps 😂👌💯🔥
Overpriced junk. No adjustability, worlds crappiest servo, and in the same price point as 6s rigs from Arrma, and corraly, and same price as the MUCH better designed losi 8 rtr and kyosho mp10 ready set. Would be a good bashes buggy if the thing wasn’t the same price as the 6s typhon AND the 6s vorza
I’m normally pretty against traxxas, but this thing would probably hold up the best of any 1/8 buggy at a skate park. At the track for sure I’d pick my HB/Vorza hodge-podge
@ but expensive. I’ve really fallen off the past two years more of my RC are broke then running. I had a solid five-year run and I want to get back into it but time, money deciding where to start 😂 😢
@@williamperri3437 I hear that. Between video projects and just not having time to fix stuff more of my cars are broken than working at any given time.
I do think it’s too expensive for sure! The 2s needs to be $100 less and so does this! Especially given some of the cut corners. But what that tells me is they’re likely gonna come out with an ultimate which will fix all the cut corners, and likely still be too expensive. Though if they keep the ultimate at this price and bump the others down….. oh who am I kidding?! But aside from the price I have a few thoughts. First off I’ve never had issues fitting any aftermarket batteries in any of my Traxxas models except, for obvious reasons, the Revo. But even then aftermarket batteries that fit aren’t hard to find. At least in my experience Traxxas batteries aren’t really a super specific/rare size and they usually come with foam for adjustments. And I much prefer the Traxxas method of securing the batteries over Velcro straps. I hate Velcro straps! Unless they changed the guts of the steering servo and didn’t tell anyone, then that is ridiculous! Plastic geared servo on 4s at this price point?! C’mon. But now my main two points. I have a Hoss and as you know the Hoss runs the Maxx motor but the 3S ESC. So of course I had to get the Maxx ESC and bolt it in. Changing nothing else, at first, honestly the truck is absolutely insane! Standing and practically unending back flips for as long as you wanna hold the throttle. I have no idea what it’s top speed is because even at when approaching 50mph there’s enough trigger left to through the wheels up. It’ll run nearly an hour on one of Traxxas smaller 4s packs if I’m not going hard on it. Going full throttle as much as possible, about 30 minutes. The ESC has a fan, the motor doesn’t. The motor never gets hot. It never gets to the point that I can’t touch and hold onto it. The truck is so light for the motor it just doesn’t need to work hard enough to generate heat. Even in hundred plus degree weather running as hard as possible in grass, it doesn’t get hot enough to need a fan. So assuming the JATO, hate that name! It’s like if someone were to slap the Mustang name on an electric crossover! Oh wait….. But I digress. Assuming the JATO is about the same weight as the Hoss, and the motor gets some airflow, I doubt it’ll need fans. But the ESC? Now that I’m unsure of. There’s no doubt I want this and no doubt all the haters will hate on me if I ever get it. But that’s ok. This is a hobby that’s meant to be fun. I love my Traxxas models just as much as my Arrmas, my Kyoshos, my HPIs, my Tamiyas, my Furiteks, and so on. One thing I can say for sure about Traxxas is they’re usually always one of the best designed and built RTRs of all the brands especially when it comes to minor details. Does that really matter to most people? Nope! And no doubt many will argue with everything I just said!
You're correct. The market has come along and made a lot of different battery options that fit the Traxxas box but it would be nice if they would just use straps like everybody else
@@DoRC Let me start by saying I’m only speaking for myself and I’m not trying to change anybody’s minds about this. Everything that follows is specific to me. Now with that little disclaimer out of the way, I dislike the straps! Yes they work fine, usually, and they’re as universal as can be, but at least for me they always get dirty and then the Velcro doesn’t hold well. Then I’ve got to clean the Velcro and no it’s not hard to do, but I just wish I didn’t have to do it at all! I’m aware this is the epitome of a first world problem! But it doesn’t change the fact that I’ve had batteries eject from straps because they were too dirty to hold tightly and I didn’t have a way to quickly clean them. Especially in any RC where the body covers the tires! I hate that design! Looking at you short course trucks! Yeah it looks cool but aside from the generally poor aerodynamics at high speeds, my slashes take flight without mods or different bodies, every single spec of dirt that a tire throws up goes straight into the chassis. So I especially dislike straps on my short course trucks. To be clear I totally get what you’re saying and you’re absolutely right in that straps are universal and thus give you practically unlimited options and that freedom of choice is very valuable. But at least in my case, most of my batteries have at least one dimension in common such that they will work in the Traxxas battery trays. Again my Revo is an exception and no doubt the X Maxx, Maxx, and some of the older models are as well. I guess what I’m trying to say is I just don’t like dealing with dirty Velcro and between the two options I’ll take the Traxxas design. But what would be really awesome would be for someone to come up with something as universal as Velcro but as unbothered by dirt as Traxxas. That would be sweet! Oh and I’d also wish for all the hatred and bullying between both sides pro Traxxas and anti Traxxas to stop! I actually feel bad for some RUclipsrs because if they say something nice about Traxxas the angry mobs come out with figurative pitchforks and all kinds of messed up accusations. It’s unnecessary and it doesn’t do anyone any good! Ok I’ll get off my soap box now.
@2down4up absolutely. I think that there are plenty of people that like the Traxxas holddowns I'm not one of them because I don't have much in the way of Traxxas shaped batteries so most of the time I don't have something that will fit the stock location but that's just my own personal experience. Everybody's experience is going to be different and everything has its advantages and disadvantages.
@DoRC is it just coated, or a complete steel alloy? Titannitrid is also a steel alloy, which has the golden color and is much harder then steel. Not just a coating.
@RBRC1 Yes and no. They were going to come out with brushed and brushless forms and they have to release one or the other first. They are in business to make money and it wouldn't make monetary sense for them to release the brushless one first. I do understand feeling like that was being very but I think both models are fairly reasonably priced for what you get and again they are in business to make money
I think 199 is a little low but to stay in line with the rest of the industry I think 350 would be reasonable. The new Typhon is pretty similarly specked and it's 329
@DoRC I've had loads over my 30 odd years of playing with RC. That typhon though, it's right up there..... Dig your channel. Respect here from the UK....
Yes and no. The X-Max definitely is an awesome truck but in the 1/8 scale buggy segment there's a lot more competition. The 6s Typhon is a very mature product and the latest buggies from TC represent serious value for money.
I suspect it'll actually be pretty durable. The 3S platform is mature at this point and Traxxas has been putting out some of the most durable bashers you can get in the last few years.
@@DoRC the most omg part about all this: Traxxas after milking Stampede and Rustler for 20 years finally gone 1/14 basher and 1/8 almost racing mostly basher (and even upgraded to heavy-duty Stampede and Rustler). I wonder if Arrma and Losi and Rlaarlo helped them in any way?
Nah, ill stick to the heavy ass Typhon for that price for bashing, and for track theres still better options for that orice range. Fanboys will probably buy them up though.
I'm a fan of some Traxxas cars, but it looks like Traxxas purposely "under built" this RC so most will need to follow an expensive upgrade path, either to correct weaknesses, or to add tunability etc. Something to think about when sizing this up against competition from companies like Arrma. I had to basically upgrade almost everything on my Rustler VXL 2WD, I was breaking parts every run.
Yeah it is surprising that they left out a few key things I would expect to see in a VXL but it is aimed at bashers and if it was priced a little bit more appropriately I think it would be fine
Are those 3 squares on the esc indicator lights? You have A V and what looks like a thermometer symbol. It is a bit overpriced and perhaps your paying more for the brand. I agree that the 6s Typhon is a much better RC.
Yeah if you have Traxxas batteries I would imagine that would be the case. A lot of people don't use Traxxas batteries though which is when it becomes an issue.
I was expecting to have the issues I see people complain about traxxas batteries dying early and to be switched over to a different brand/plug by now. Bought six traxxas batteries in 2020 and they're all still going strong.
@RobFRC Yeah they actually make fairly decent batteries. I don't think they're the best bang for the buck in the world but there's nothing wrong with them
I was just doing some looking on Traxxas website and there’s one thing that really bothers me more than the rest, the plastic geared servo! Don’t get me wrong there’s plenty to like and plenty more to dislike, but the servo! It just bugs me! This new VXL4s speed control has an adjustable voltage BEC in it which I believe is a first for Traxxas! Why they would bother to put an adjustable BEC, which is awesome, into such an over priced buggy, which is not awesome price wise, and then stick a plastic servo in it?! Just why?! Why Traxxas?! Price aside and maybe a few upgrades here or there, this thing might be a legitimately awesome ride, but for the price it damn well better be! 7.4v BEC and plastic servo?! 🤯 I do like the double shear camber links though!
There's definitely a lot to like on this I just think Traxxas needs to get with the times servo wise. Not that long ago it was just expected to have to throw away the servo from any RTR but it's just not like that these days. The current Arrma RTR servos are decent and the TC ones are actually okay.
I find that price a little unjustifiable I like the car overall but it's missing a lot of stuff for road control no sway bars or adjustable links until that unit is on discount I'm getting one just not now
Yeah I'm just kind of struggling to understand who they are trying to appeal to here. I mean it's not really set up for racing but it's way more expensive than the bashing competition
@DoRC if Traxxas does release adjustable links for this unit they are gonna be overpriced still so pretty much everything on this rc has to be aftermarket parts which is what I prefer for my Traxxas arsenal
My Xmaxx has made me despise clipless bodies. I almost didn't buy a Mojave Grom because of the clipless body. I did and learned not all clipless bodies are self removing bodies in any crash. I won't ever buy another clipless body from Traxxas. It's ridiculous to have to tape my Xmaxx body on to be able to actually enjoy it. For the money both these Traxxas buggies are an easy pass for me. If it was 1/5 scale 4x4 8s basher buggy instead I'd order 2 the first day possible. Nobody else makes one of those, much less a better one for less. There are several 1/8 buggies available that are both.
Good old Traxxas! Something that looks decent but is overpriced and will require upgrades to be on the same level as the competition 😂
Yeah a lot of people definitely think it's overpriced
After the "MAXX" debacle, I am free of Traxxas. Adios
But people will still buy it
It's just too expensive. Seriously.
I think a lot of people are going to feel that way. More than a typhon 6s? That's tough to justify.

Yeah I think unless you're just going to be casually racing and mostly bashing your best off either building a kit or if you're on a budget just buy someone's roller from last year. Whenever a new model comes out there's always people selling the previous generation for peanuts.
Arrma and Corally buggies are better value and you can get 6s versions
Agreed
I'd go fot the Typhon 6s before this one. More power for about the same price. And from the l9oks of it, the Typhon is built tougher. I have a Typhon 6s TLR and i lov3 it.
The typhon is actually a fair amount cheaper. If you buy it on AliExpress it's way cheaper
I hope everyone and more people realize how dope this channel is. Any video that comes out now I'm like hold up..... wait a min... has do RC done it?
Thanks man I'm glad you enjoy!
@EVERYONEPOOS123 that's me also, I was waiting for him to talk about it, and the fact that he doesn't have one on his possession shows that he's not shilling for the corporate over lords, so he can be honest.
Hobao VS2 any day
Absolutely 👍
Good car
Traxxas needs to listen to the collective.
Well one thing they're good at is making money and I suspect if they weren't going to make money at this price they wouldn't be doing it.
Another Plastic Fantastic with a good distribution channel. They manage to cut costs better than anyone while having decent marketing. This is for bashers and the youtubers who get mailed free cars and release a video on the same day.
I want free cars :-)
That price is insanely hard to justify for what you're getting, even the biggest traxxas supporters are gonna have a hard time defending this, theres just better things you can get for a similar or even cheaper price
For sure. I'm certain there are plenty of people that will buy this car and they'll enjoy it. I'm sure it's a good car but yeah it will be hard for a lot of people to justify
Another great piece of content. This channel is fast becoming the channel I never knew I needed.
Thanks Glad you enjoyed!
Would rather have the team corrally. Traxxas wildin w these price to feature ratio
The TC cars are really good
apparently mike jenkins needs more mansions and diamonds. 🤦🏻🤦🏻
Lol
These new RC releases that I've been seeing have brought something to my attention. Most people in the hobby are spoiled by things we've gotten in the past and really aren't appreciating the new things that we're getting, but I guess time will tell.
I think people do appreciate the new things It's just when they are priced higher than anything else in their segment it tends to turn some people off.
If you’re spending that kind of money might as well get a typhon TLR
It is getting pretty close to that range.
Yeah the TC buggies are kind of hard to beat these days
I’ll stick to the Arrma typhon
Awesome buggy
I received my Dhk optimus yesterday, and I got it for $194. The brushless system is not good, but you can upgrade for more power. Is an old rc, but for me, great. If you want, you can hunt for hidden gems
I haven't heard of that brand in a while
The kyosho mp10e readyset is much more car for the money
I need to get one of those
@@DoRC ill be waiting for the reveiw
I built this same truck years ago when the LCG slash came out and I added a few parts from Tekno. It was called a Backslash back then.
Yeah a bunch of people have
Great introduction of this buggy, but the price in my opinion is way to high, I would go for a TLR Typhon...
It is definitely a lot of money
Traxxas just raised the price of the mini maxx
I saw that. That's pretty crazy
@ just spoke to my hobby shop. It’s due to shipping and in order to get them to the shops when they want, they are sending them on planes instead of boats which drives the cost up. It’s not a permanent price but it’s traxxas, we will see
They are bat doodoo crazy.
Definitely not cheap
If I was gonna two buy one, I wood buy this one can't wait to get this one in my hands thanks for update and stay safe✌️
That's a tough one. It's obviously better bang for the buck but it's still a lot of buck
In recent news, the mini Maxx just got a price hike before it ever reached stores. $269. I was on the fence before but hell no. I’ll wait and buy one used for 150.
Yeah I saw that. Pretty crazy to raise the price before the thing even comes out
It wouldn't surprise me if this was a rushed announcement because of the almost universal condemnation of the 2s model
Exactly my thoughts! Damage control for a completely botched model launch
Not a bad guess. It does seem pretty suspicious that they would release both at the same time
Finally, someone who honestly calls it how they see it and is not afraid to point out some of the short comings of this platform.
I have a bunch of Traxxas, and looking forward to the mini maxx, but $530.00 without a bunch of the hop ups is way too much.
Yeah definitely is steep
The only competition this thing will see is self created races by Traxxas
It will be interesting to see what people can do with it. It's pretty light
That price with a 2075 servo are they high?
It does seem a little crazy with a plastic gear servo
Anyone looking for a 1/8 scale buggy, just buy a TLR Tuned TYPHON 6S 4WD BLX Buggy RTR. For what Traxxas is charging for this is insane and not even include adjustable links etc. You would need to spend another $300-$400 just to get this VXL model up to the stock level of a TLR Typhoon
To be fair the TLR tuned Typhon is a bit more money but this is seemingly mostly aimed at bashing and the standard 6s Typhon is even cheaper.
Absolutely. I actually have a video from a while back showing turning a used racer into a basher. Worked out well
I kind of accepted crazy prices when i got into the hobby.. and im actually a pretty big traxxas fan as much as any other brand.. but they definitely need an electronics update... especially the transmitter.. ive personally never had issues with them myself i think they work well.. but at the same time.. a person can get really tired of buying the exact same thing.. cmon traxxas.. suprise us!!
It would be nice to see a transmitter update
It is kind of crazy
I feel like the groms and mini's must be driving up prices from the bottom up, $530+ for that is nuts.
As long as it gets people to the track and trying racing I’m happy about it!
Yeah but there are a lot better ways to do it.
@ Absolutely, when we are so spoiled for choice like we are now, bringing something this mediocre to market is quite confusing.
Probably a great car, just a poor value proposition. Unfortunate too, I was hoping that traxxas was on the right track after the Mini Maxx, still expensive, but more justifiable given the support.
Did you see they just raised the price on it?
@ I had not, but of course they did. I preordered it at my local hobby shop the day it dropped, will be the last time I buy a new Traxxas product.
A plastic 1/8 scale buggy! Cool concept but make it $349 and watch your local tracks start a fun beginner class
I think at 450 it would make sense given the competition but 530 seems a little steep
For the price it should be pushing 75+ and more adjustability. Original Jato 3.3 was a beast this is a joke
I think it's going to be a decent car and a lot of people will enjoy it but it is a lot of money
Let the hate comments begin. 😂 $$$ yikes
Plastic fixed turnbuckle links is the most egregious cost cutting, every VXL model has had metal adjustable links far as I know.
This thing looks to be an overpriced cash grab to try and steal the rtr buggy market from losi and kyosho
It is a little odd. My guess is that they know most of the people buying this thing won't be using it for racing so would never adjust the turnbuckles anyway but it does seem like a pretty big omission
The traxxas stock turmbuckles bend easier then the freebie ikea assemble tools. And that's saying something!
Oh yeah I agree that it's not unreasonable compared to the BL2S version it's just that the BL2S is unreasonable to begin with
They'll come out with an Ultimate version next.
Oh dear
And that thing will probably over $700
I dread to see how much that will cost
I keep a 10 foot pole between me and Traxxas. They’re never getting any of my money ever again.!
I think you hit the nail on the head. They built this car so they could sell more upgrade parts and take your money. Too expensive!
I actually think this is more aimed at bashers than racers and four bashing, as long as you don't mind the price of entry and probably replacing the servo it does give you most of what you need
Next week arrma comes with a new version of the 6s typhon lmao. That would be hilarious
It's entirely possible. I'm actually surprised they haven't come out with new versions of the entire 6S line yet.
Like my modified Typhon? 🤣
Oh yeah. Traxxas has like seven pages of upgrades for this since it's on the 3S platform
I want to like this buggy so bad! I can't wrap my arms around $529! There are too many other options available!
I agree
as someone who races associated comp buggies i would like to see sway bars, and adjustable links at a minimum at this price. steel axles would be nice, but not necessary at first. the plastic diffs dont bother me though. my comp buggy has plastic diffs and ive never had issues out of them. the sway bars, and adjustable links would put it alot closer to that comp price range and a proper built comp buggy rtr can run you $2,000. so for a racer the price isnt great, but not terrible. for a back yard basher its a pretty steep price for sure, espacially compared to the other bashers out there at this price point. i personally would love to see traxxas release a comp ready buggy and get into the race scene.
Yeah if this seemed like it was designed as a racer I think the price would be a lot more justifiable but it feels like basher with the price of a racer
@ I agree. I personally feel they should lower the cost, or add the additional parts to make it more race worthy.
To be fair the TLR roller is 419. The RTR is quite a bit more expensive.
Corally Syncro woops that a$$
And for way cheaper.
Spark, Whoops that ***
Arrma Typhon DESTROYES This.... Only thing it's got going is Traxxas Plastics for durability and being overpriced..... 2 things Traxxas is best at😂😂
Yeah I expect this thing to be pretty durable
@DoRC
Yeah for sure ! prices are getting ridiculous.
$529~ track ready with adjustable turn buckles, tie rods, esc and motor fan, and that 2075r servo witch is pretty decent and dare i say a good servo on 7.4v
I think they wanna do an ultimate version but they these features would make it too close. So sell them a big motor, track tires and aluminum shock + TRX tax and then sell them the serious parts as upgrades ($$) while reserving the marketability of an ULTIMATE model.
Stop playin with us Traxxas!
Yeah I think 450 would definitely be a reasonable number
I did a backslash 1/8 conversion years ago. They have done something alot of people have been asking them to do for a long time. Looks like I will now be able to get away from my losi cab forward body. No need to buy it since I already technically have it.
Hopefully the body fits
I’ll stick with a properly built backslash conversion for the price. Hopefully the rear shock mount will fit the slash because it has the built in wing mount
Yeah I was looking at that. You can make a pretty sweet backslash for a similar price
Next for me is Mojave grom blx 🎉
I've got mine pre-ordered
@ what’s the ETA on the mojave grom ? Mid November ish
Wow yeah it should be named Conflicted lol. It would be interesting to see this in the hands of a pro and get their take on it - out of the box vs "tuned" to their liking.
I would definitely like to see that!
Surprisingly, there’s also a difference in the wheel hex. 2s is plastic, 4s is aluminum
Yeah I saw that and thought I had made it clear in the video but looking back I guess I didn't :-)
Nice job breaking it down! I like, but too skimpy on the goods for the money. That's Typhon 6s money, TC Spark is considerably cheaper and IMO much better. Jato looks like a hard sell I feel.
Yeah I'm sure a lot of people will buy this and they'll love it but they're certainly are better value for money options out there
@DoRC They sure do know how to sell em. I can't deny. Cheers brother🍻
If they make a nitro I’ll buy it 🔥
Pretty unlikely
Ya they won’t make a big block nitro😢
HOW CAN YOU BE SO FAST TO RELEASE AN EDIT?! Did you know before hand and had this ready?! Love the channel!!💯✅️🙏🏽
No. I found out at the same time as everyone else. Just practice I guess.
You forgot about the adjustable BEC. They say you can adjust it between 6 and 7.4 volts in the Traxxas Link app.
Yeah I did miss that. First time they've ever had a 7.4 volt BEC. That's pretty awesome!
The only traxxas worth it is Xmaxx Maxx TRX4 SLASH.
Definitely good RCs
Nice informative video again 👌💯. Looks like a dencent but overpriced rig imho 🤔. You could get two Carson Virus 4s capable for that amount of money and they would perform as good if not even better ... Anyways, thanks for the video 🙏🙏. Have a good one, keep it up and keep on bashing 🤜🤛🤘
Carson virus. I'll have to check that out I've never seen those
@DoRC yeah, it's a German brand that's pretty lose to Tamiya and the Virus is pretty underrated imo. Got the 4.2 and despite it needing repairs 😇 she really ripps 😂👌💯🔥
I could see this working as a spec class or for bashing. If the goal is to race competitively, there are far better RTR buggy options out there.
Yeah I think that's the big problem. There are cheaper bashers and better racers. I'm sure plenty of people will buy it though
Honestly, I’ll probably buy one. Parts support and upgradable options are easier with traxxas unfortunately
They definitely have an advantage in those two categories over some brands
Gotta leave upgrades for an ultimate
Yeah but how much is that going to cost?!
@ I’m not saying it’s bad per say but for the price I would still pick a 6s rig like this thing is almost the same price as a 6s Kraton
@ yea for sure, at least rollers minus electronics tend to be quite cheap on ebay
@@vivos71 yeah that would be the way to go for sure. They should have priced this around 400 to start
Yeah and those cars are cheaper
The only thing I care about is it gonna be good? We all all know our Traxxas likes to get over 😂 but this one looks kind of good.
I expected to be a pretty decent bashing buggy. Not sure how good of a race or it will be but probably won't be terrible if that either.
@ Absolutely! Could not agree with you more!
As far as i know from engine building, nitriding steel does harden it. So maybe its what theyve done to the shocksaft, to harden it.
This is not nitriding. This is a titanium nitride coating. Titanium nitride that's put on is very hard but it doesn't affect the base metal
@DoRC ok, i thought they could have done that to de steel shafts, because they have been claimed to be harder, compared to the standard shaft.
@DoRC is it just coated, or a complete steel alloy? Titannitrid is also a steel alloy, which has the golden color and is much harder then steel. Not just a coating.
Much better options at that price
That price or cheaper
I want traxxas to come out with more TRACK ORIENTED buggys and truggys…🤷🏽♂️
Yeah this one seems to be inspired by track orientation but not actually track oriented.
@ agreed 👍🏽👍🏽
I wouldn't waste my money.
Stick to my Arrma, Team corally!
They definitely do seem to represent better value for money
@@DoRC kinda, Arrma did people kinda dirty with the Groms.... nobody really talks about much, oh well!
That thing should be $199
I think 199 is a little low but to stay in line with the rest of the industry I think 350 would be reasonable. The new Typhon is pretty similarly specked and it's 329
Sooo. its a Backslash.
Yes, over 10 years later🙄
Yep
I'll keep my TLR Typhon....
Definitely an awesome buggy
@DoRC I've had loads over my 30 odd years of playing with RC. That typhon though, it's right up there..... Dig your channel. Respect here from the UK....
It is over priced for an all plastic 1/8 buggy but the fun factor and dependability are worth it, if you have an Xmaxx you know what I mean.
Yes and no. The X-Max definitely is an awesome truck but in the 1/8 scale buggy segment there's a lot more competition. The 6s Typhon is a very mature product and the latest buggies from TC represent serious value for money.
@@DoRC I already have a Typhon 6s an I've never heard of TC
Atleast all the other buggies like the arrma 3s and 6s will have a ragtoy to beat on at the track🤣
The 6s Typhon will definitely be heavier
Kyosho all day at this price point
I need to see what their latest stuff is. I haven't bought anything from them in a while
That is an insane price, esp for a 4S. Don’t know why they are advising it as a basher. I don’t think it would survive.
I suspect it'll actually be pretty durable. The 3S platform is mature at this point and Traxxas has been putting out some of the most durable bashers you can get in the last few years.
I’ll be getting the mini maxx only thing I’m excited for from traxxas
I'm definitely looking forward to getting mine as well!
the price is absolutely diabolical😭
Definitely not cheap
Losi 8ight, is that really you? Nah, its not. Better go for Losi 8IGHT-XE.
Getting pretty close.
Many people will agree
Yes. Traxxas has been putting them on the larger ESCs for quite a while now.
Looks good bit wow a lot of money. Good old traxxas with there traxxas tax
Got to pay that Traxxas tax :-)
Well that didn’t take long.
Yeah that's for sure.
What center differential?
It's got the plastic one
Looks like it will have the slash 4x4 center diff
@@DoRC I see it now, it's directly behind the rear one.
I don't see the problem with the battery. I convert my non-traxxas models to use my Traxxas batteries lol
I don't think they're the best bang for the buck in the world but there's nothing wrong with them
The fact that 530 dlls is a brushed 2wd rc car in where I live 😭, that might be about 850 or something like that where I live
Yeah prices can be pretty ridiculous depending on where you live
@@DoRC Couldn’t agree more!
Nice job traxxas !
😂
Getting one?
😂😂😂
To be fair the X-Max was kind of the first and they've learned a lot since then. Modern clipless bodies even the one on the XRT really don't come off
