I don’t know how but I’ve managed to keep mine alive for a couple of years in a west facing window. I’ve propagated and shared this plant with a lot of friends. 😊
My string of tears is thriving in full western sun on the sill, currently, here in the Pacific northwest. Actually all the string succulents are doing well for me this year....that is not to say I haven't killed them in the past....there is a little learning curve with them. When I researched light requirements I find recommendations for zero direct light, but I find that to be inaccurate care info. That being said, I will probably pull them a little deeper into the house as the summer temperatures get here. Thanks for featuring this one, Summer....I didn't know the blooms were pleasing smelling!
I have a small one that I got the first of the year before all of this crazy happened, and it's in a 5 inch pot and doing great so far, it has some trails but I actually wound one of the trails around the top and it has rooted up. I find that if I just let this plant be in the sunny location I have it in and don't water it only when I see the beads pucker then it seems just fine. I was afraid to get it at first but now I'm glad I did. Thanks again Summer, have a great day, XOXO see you tomorrow.
❤ love the strings of Curios. I wish I could post a photo. It's really nice sitting in my south west facing window at 60 degrees north in Shetland xxx ps stay healthy plant family!
Beautiful plant! I thought I got a pearls once but it was tears! I absolutely love their flowers. They all have the same flowers! (Tears, pearls, bananas). Which is amazing. My fastest grower is the bananas. I find if you wait until the beads are shriveled around 25% of the plant THAT’s a perfect time to water. I use a plastic pot (surprisingly) but all of mine are hung in a very hot southern window.
Thank you for this. I bought a dying string of tears (at 50% off) and only have two healthy strings left, fingers crossed! I placed it by an East facing window. Yours looks fantastic!
Wow I didn’t know how hard it would to be to find info on this. I just bought one online and it came today and I love it so much. I ordered it with a string of dolphins. Thank you for the information ☺️
I have been watching a lot of your videos Just an input please in the description please also give climates the plant will thrive . Your viewers are from across the world , so I think this would help. PS I am bad with punctuation signs
Agree. I have burrito & string of pearl, i really don’t understand what they want 😅 they keep shrinking. I’m very frustrated but i really want them to thrive
I have a cutting that has been sitting in the pot for like 2 months, not dying but not growing either. I'm goint to put it on my eastern window and see if the change in light helps him. I was ready to say whatever and give it up on him so thanks for the info!
I love all of the curios. I sure wish the powers that be would quit changing the names. It’s hard enough For the average gal to remember them. That is absolutely beautiful. I have very full and healthy pearls. Still working on banana. And you are absolutely right. Need to keep the light at the top of the soil to keep It full. I love all the curios.
What soil would you recommend for string of tear and string of pearls? I just bought some and they’re in their nursery pots and was looking to put them in terra-cotta pots but not sure what soil:)
Love your videos. I'm pretty sure that my string of pearls has spider mites. Since I can't wipe of each single pearl, what would be the best way to get rid of them?
@@colahu111 Thanks for your reply. I don't have any neem oil at home, so I've sprayed mine with alcohol 70% and a little dish soap. Didn't know what else to do. Just hope I'm not killing it.
@@ursulaaltenburg5518 I have a string of bananas that has spider mites and I've been spraying it with 2 parts water and 1 part peroxide. It's helping for sure.
What an amazing looking plant, it looks like a powerhouse for survival, funny when plants trail like that looks inviting to bug life. Looking at building a programme that has 100 plants programmed into a calender that tells me lots of data, a personal assistant. There are apps for that but id prefer the geek version tailored and personal, essentially if you do enough plants you could keep busy for 15 hours a day being reminded constantly of your schedule.
'they' is academic research looking further into species taxonomy using molecular analyses, it's happening in all types of species (plants, animals, fungi etc)
mine has fungus gnats but only in the soil!! ive been drying it out in the sun for like two weeks and the gnats arent budging, i dont know what to do. i cant keep it inside because the gnats are crazy and i dont want them jumping onto other plants. help!! edit: i cant get mosquito bits in my country
Put it outside in shade and let the beneficial insects kill whatever is sucking thr life out of your plant! I lost mine to aphids one year about this time.

Thank you for these informative and lovely videos, they are so helpful.
Good thing you're keeping up on these names. Lol. Saw the title and was like "what is this??"
I would love to have this plant, nice plant pot also. Thanks for the video Summer.
Aways so beautiful ❤

Love the PBS series Shetland too. Beautiful area to live in.
Shetland! And to think I struggled with plants in Aberdeen... Hats off

eM J I have what I thought was string of pearls but I think it’s a tear instead!!
Good timing. I just ordered one!
How was it? 😂 is it still alive?
I love this plant so much. 🌿🌱❤️
You're right, very, very sensitive about light and watering, but hey ... where else would the challenge be? 🤷🏻♂️😅

Same, it really sucked cos it looked so beautiful and full and now it looks like a toddler who just completed their a levels
Did yours survive?

Hi! Do you mind me asking where you bought them from and how their condition was when they arrived please?
@@clairasher9766 I got them from succulentdepot.com at the time! They’ve all gone up in prices but still not that bad

Thank you for a great channel. My plants would be dead without you! ⚰️ 💚 I would love to see a video on biological pest control!
ok. but do these need a lot of water? since they are more of the thinner stem and smaller leaves variety compared to other succulents?
What soil would you recommend for string of tear and string of pearls? I just bought some and they’re in their nursery pots and was looking to put them in terra-cotta pots but not sure what soil:)
Use well draining cactus soil.
Do the flowers turn to seed or do they have separate seed pods?
? Seed pods are always formed from a flower.

Hi iam ur new RUclips friend. I love watching your videos 👌👌
I used to steal a drop once in a while :)
I just got this plant and I'm debating putting it outside on a wall that gets zero direct sunlight. Will it flower outdoor without direct sunlight?
Can you propogate by leaves?
How do you re root them after they’ve had root rot?
Hey can i propegate with the leaves aswell or not
Mine is so long. I'm not sure what to do.
Why do ‘they’ keep changing names of plants?

Jay S beneficial nematodes are super easy to use. I was fungus gnat free for about a year after applying them to all of my plants one time last year.
Try neem oil too. 🙃

Nice nice nice nice nice

Is anyone else having sound issues on this one?
