Basically yeah! Though it should be noted that Teridax used the Vahki for far more sinister purposes when he impersonated Dume. He used Dume's authority to command them to do things they weren't originally intended to do.
The Vahki are one of those concepts you don’t really appreciate until you’re much older. The idea that the Matoran would build such an oppressive form of law enforcement to police themselves (who are literally programmed to enjoy the hunt) is really creepy to think about, especially in our modern world where police brutality has become such a prevalent issue. I know in the actual lore it was Dume who commissioned their creation but in my head canon it was actually Teridax who masterminded it.
Glad you enjoyed! Some Vahki did stick around for a bit but they couldn't function as they once did without their hives in working order and eventually were destroyed. They reappear in the 'Dark Mirror' alternate timeline story though as guards/law enforcers.
My friend told me that the Vahki and metru Nui where the first example growing up of corrupt politicians and police who enforce their will of enacting violence upon the citizens and are the reason why she started down the pathway to police abolition as an adult
@@austingray6885 Did you know that fiction has the capability to make us think about things in ways we never had before? Also like she wasn't an elementary school student yelling about police abolition. It literally was just, "Huh when the police are working for bad reasons and abusing their power bad things can happen.
@@OPTIMUSL1METhis isn't me defending corrupt cops, but completely getting rid of the police force isn't the answer. The system needs to be cleaned up of people who abuse their power, but more funding needs to go to things like mental health professionals who can be called as easily as police currently can be. Don't destroy the system, just improve it.
GregF was pretty outspoken that he was dissatisfied with the concept of the Vahki, that their robotic minds were not fun to write with for his character-minded narrative style. Can kinda agree on that front, it's a bit of a shame they ended up being kinda generic with none of the charm of the Bohrok hordes or the cool viciousness of the Rahkshi. It seemed like there was a fun idea for their reinvention in 2005 when the Great Cataclysm jumbled their programming and gave them understandable speech, but it was too little too late since the Visorak had their remnants utterly outmached. Feel like there was room for some interesting vahki characters if Greg had been willing to bend the rules or think more about purely robotic minds, but that's something fanfic can easily pick up the pieces of. Didn't help how dull they were as toys for lesser copies of the Vahki build and less compelling army building fodder, though I've grown to appreciate them over the years. I went a little silly when BZP created a Hapori Dume character in 2004 and I did my own MOCing/writing based on that, so that helped to grow some favoritism for their design aesthetic. Definitely want to do more with them, could play around with the notions of the limits of their programming or something.
@@ClownCollegeReject I doubt it. The Bohrok had greater capabilities, and many of the Vahki's abilities were intended for use on Matoran and it's doubtful they would be effective against Bohrok. I think the Visorak vs the Bohrok would be a more interesting match-up and on some kind of parity.

Vakama pulled a Lewa- “Haha! Makes glass!”
The soulless robot terminator spiders in the matoran universe.
Basically bionicle's version of the gestapo police

Influenced into activism by a piece of fiction? The jokes just write themselves 😂

Abolishing the police is a really good idea

@@NLoett The whole foundation is built on strikebreakers and slave catchers. Tear it up by the roots and replace it with something new.
We need a #BionicleCinematicUniverse
There online animations were badass.
Good thing 8 years old me totally missed how fucked up the Vahki really were back in the day
I was 8 then as well, haha yeah they were pretty dystopian thinking about it 🤔
so the vorzakh and keerakh effects were permanent?
No, all the Vahki stun staff effects were temporary
Love it
Thank you!

Could the Vahki have defeated tho Borok?
