Me! Will track tonight. Gonna listen a bunch first and ruminate/jam.

You ended the contest too soon I mean if you would had keep it going for longer time it would be tons of more submissions since there was a few every day uploaded
I'm up for tabs for this track. Anyone got em? lol
This teaser is a the ultimate evidence that this world need the new Fredrik thordendal album very good my head is spinning to the first riff.
We truly need another 'Special Defects' album. Please Fredrik!
Well maybe the threshold would be smaller if both Fredrik and also meshuggah skip the album concept all togheter and just release single songs. I think that would give more freedom and less pressure too.
That was the reason Meshuggah originally cited him taking a break. Sad to see nothing came out of that.
He is working on it, unsatisfied with the work so far. But let’s be real, how could an album be any better than the first?
Unsatisfied! Did he tell you that? If so, tell him we don't perceive better or worse - only sound. AHHHHHHH!!!!! @@wendellstamps
@@lotsawapadmavimoksac.chico5610 Just internet gossip. And I feel the same, I simply just need the next album asap 😆
Fredrik is an unrivalled genius

@tose5566 I dig opeth, but incomparable.
@@stetsonwittenborn4899 no pretty comparable. They’re extremely different obviously so it’s hard to compare but they both really really shine in certain aspects
Makes me a little sad that Fredrik had little to do with the rhythm guitars on Immutable because his rhythm work is top-notch, and this demo is no exception.
Yes. This is why the album didn't appeal to me at all.
@@sameerbankar6073 Fred hasn’t written anything for Meshuggah since Koloss.
@@drumkidstu True, but he did supervise the sound and mixing of TVSOR.
@@johannrajan6357 this is fine but sound design and tracking are very different than writing riffs. What’s crazy is this demo would have actually worked quite well with Meshuggah’s writing on Immutable. It has that groove and chuginess that is all over the last record. Even the warm mix of the album would have still worked with this writing.
Agreed, just listening to this shows , what could have been. Hopefully he more involved in the next album, if there is one
I didn't know that you could acoustically represent a wall slapping you, until now... Amazing.
world-ending tone.. 💣💣💣💣💣
Fredrik has been my all time since 95’.
I can't believe that the first and only track written by Fredrik in the last 11 years was released this nonchalantly but I am happy to have found it. This is great stuff. Still waiting for his second special defects album...
Released, because he's been writing for SD2.
I'm focusing more on that brutally aggresive guitar tone! Jeesus christ it sounds so good!
Thordendal the legend
Check out Hermansson Amplification.
This should have been on the new album
It really is quite similar! Very solid groove.
No man let it be a new thordendal special
Djun djun dun dun da dun djun djun djun da dun djun djun. Thank you, Father Fredrik. I needed this track so bad, hits right where it needs to be.
Im so excited for special defects 2
Is it coming
@@behindthen0thing Supposedly that’s why he took a break from touring with meshuggah
@@spencerdrums9776 He supposedly didn't touch a guitar for three years during that break so who knows 😔
Listened to this 1000 times already
Someone set this to an intense ww2 dogfight. That sound on the "chorus" sounds like a plane dive bombing and i love it
so good please release more music Fredrik!
So glad seeing Leo from Pain Of Salvation working together with Fredrik! Criminally overlooked drummer. Really can't overstate how eager I am for new Defects, no matter how long it continues to take, I'll keep waiting!
Okay now I’m very suspicious of Marten’s statement that Fredrik said he hadn’t touched a guitar in 3 years. I hope they’re doing the long-con. His studio looks and sounds unbelievable.
Please, Fredrik! Gift us with more of your music!
My favourite guitarist of all time
Amazing track 🤩 great production 👌🏻👏🏻
Open your ears big dawg
@@atothabe just because you think the drums are not loud enough doesn’t mean it sounds bad. I really like the song and its production :-)
Menacing. Absolutely menacing.
Thank you toontrack for somehow making him give us this thing
The kicks holy crap that sounds rad.
Man this is pure power, just total shredding slam fest I love it.
I really want jens to do some vocals over this
Fredrik are genius!
When it kicked in at about 1:02, I giggled like a schoolgirl
cant stop listening to this man
ITS HAPPENING!!!
This is what meshuggah would sound like if they would allow Fredrik to be the driving force in the band. It is kind of clear Fredrik want a more brutal and minimalistic version of meshuggah and less radio friendly. I heard he wrote about 50 minutes of different bleed variation patterns. Fredrik just know music that makes you want feel like you are in a centrifugal
Why would you say that they not allow Friedrik to be the driving force in the band? I think he just doesnt want to write as much as he used to
@@ShymNoiz I think Thomas and Morgan are the boss in the band they want most likely a more radio friendly meshuggah that works live etc you can see some hints of this in koloss documentary I think.
@@AA-ou2ye Dunno man, their most radio friendly album was probably Obzen
@A A That doesn't make any sense, for several reasons. And there's nobody in the band named Morgan.
I feel there was some kind of discord within the band when Fred decided he wanted to take a break and begin writing his solo album. If you consider it, one of your guitarists is wanting to take a break from writing for the band and save their best material for their solo project. It's like a punch to the gut to the band and the whole process of writing that they were all used to. I felt like this created a lot of pressure on Marten, and is reflected in the current album. To me it just doesn't have that same essence as the previous albums, and doesn't even come close to how great TVSOR is.
Yes
Really hoping you do a video of this sdx with one of your awesome mixes. I been checking your channel everyday for it.
So sick!
Holy ssssh.t😯End of the world atmosphere...this guitar tone is scary, but i love it.
damn, he went full warlock mode
rock and roll
Special Defects 2 soon?
I would die to listen to a meshuggah album written by Fedrick again...
Are you selling the drums or the guitar? The drums are too quiet.
bass drum is very resonant. The snare is quite due to low tuning. Try on a headphone.
@@johannrajan6357 I'm listening on studio monitors and sub and the kick drum is not very present bar the click. Sounds wicked but the kit isn't being showcased here the guitars are
HOLY 😍😍😍😍😍
Note, the Superior Drummer interface shows the MIDI file in 4/4.. that amazing SLAB of music isn't in 4/4 ... 🤔
Cold As Ice 👌
Can't wait for Sol Niger Within II
This sounds awesome, but please. The entire drum kit needs to be around a full 7db louder!
🔥🔥🔥🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🔥🔥🔥
Awesome.!
amazing song love the sliding down part of course but toontrack picked the best guy in the industry to not show off any of those toms. LOL. kinda fail but love it. HAHAHAHAHAH. please release more music, fredrik.

ja jävlar i min låda ! Sjukt bra !
Only Fredrik 🙌
I feel like special forces have just slapped a burlap sack over my head and put me in a stress position. Then they start playing this. I love it.
This sounds huge..
That ain't a guitar riff, that's a chainsaw
33 33 33
Can we please talk about that guitar tone.
Why no 8 string?
Lol at stereo pair droop at 2:40, how’s your phase? 🤭
I didn’t realise that Fredrik was in the video at first. I barely recognised him.
sounds like the main riff of "i sever" by sylosis.
While it's great to hear an SDX in a mix that is not, pop/jazz/Rnb... I also can't really hear wtf is going on with the drums lol.
sounds like 6/4 to me with a bunch of hi-hat and bass drum
@@fromthesky1050 I suppose that's why it's so repetitive and droney.

Leo should do a live cover of this.
Drums sound great but But they could do a better job at making good presets 4 radio ready music
Sounds amazing, the last album doesn't 😕

Meshuggah hasn't been Meshuggah since Fredrik took a back seat in the band!
Drums sound edited to Death, no punch, no tone 👎
Still sounds better than the overproduced drums you hear often in ‘modern’ metal bands
@@Paniekzaaiertje they are sound way better that this bull...
@@ELECTRICSCARS Nahhh, these drums should just be raised in volume and it would sound better already
I used to kinda roll my eyes when people older than myself would negative say things about music that I loved . . . but now I understand it better. Each generation adds their own twist on the 12 notes we have to work with. There does come a point where it has evolved into something I don't enjoy or identify with. Yeah, I'd tell you "I love metal" but this isn't what I'm talking about at all. I think it's okay though. Music cannot stay in one place. Everybody gets a chance to do their version of it. The SOUND of the production is almost too clean for me. The precision of it dehumanizes it for me, but maybe that's the point. Excellent execution of the tools available.
Meshuggah guys have been aiming for alien precision since Chaosphere up until TVSOR. So, late 90s. I agree that the production on most modern projects has gotten away from what makes heavy music primal or relatable.
All sales are final with these crooks
Djent is dead. let it go Fred. theres only so much you can do with a complex rhythm and dissonant melody. its run its course now and its time for something new from the Prog world.
and besides it sounds like Mick Gordon already did this song but 10X better
Meshuggah aren't even djent, Djent is just an offshoot because of their existence. And they're still on top of the technical/Jazzy "djent" wave
bro youre cooked asf
just don't listen, karen
@@Zoidberg13197 its a half-cooked track. any teenager in his bedroom could’ve made this track. this man made Sol Niger Within, so we should expect a bit more from him.

Fredrik if you are reading this just know that you are definitely one of the top rated guitarists in my list due to your versatility across all spectrums of music.
He's definitely not reading it but you can go comment on his insta page, he seems to read the comments on there.
Especially the reggae spectrum.
I mean he only plays extreme metal alien jazz, like specifically primarily and exclusively
including hip hop and country.
The Sound of an unholy Machine violently Birthing a God, screaming into the endless void .
*This unrivalled* Swedish Viking *is definitely one of my top influences on the 8-string guitar along with* Tosin Abasi *and* Dino Cazares.
Is this a hidden Special Defects 2 teaser? 😅
Hope not
I hope SDFX 2 is more avant-grade, like the first one
Fredrik gör det som alltid!
Can I buy this track anywhere? I know it's "just" a demo, but I'd still like to listen to it without using youtube and I would prefer to pay for it rather than ripping it.
this tune is just fooking sick. those parts where it tries anything to distract the mind from keeping track of the underlaying 3/8th and the 4/4th beat atop. but keeping track, that's where the fun begins. Thanks, Mr. Thordendal, and please give us more of your rather amazing music! :D
the tone is absolutely bonkers fellas.
This is a great piece of music.
Okay so when is Fredrik's album coming out ?
Please Zeus, let this be teaser for SDX 2...please, 26 years passed since first one, it is about time :)
