Recording yourself on video everyday is phenomenal advice. I tried it everyday for a week now and I can see a huge improvement not only in my speaking abilities but in my confidence when talking to people. I think this is the main reason why RUclipsrs become so sociable and confident...its because they record themselves almost everyday and learn from their mistakes. Thanks for the video Conor.

About what should i talk
Good idea
Thats the key !!
Wish i saw this comment 7 years ago
12 years later, it's still a phenomenal advice
“Only by speaking, do you turn into a speaker.”
This nails the gist of the secret to mastery. Thank you so much!
Yes 🙌
Very amazing sentences
Me personally, i think it's more important to listen very carefully to everything you are flowing with heartful atention to.
Then of course as much as you listen, as much you record and then replay.
Meanwhile me at 2:00 am getting motivated by this video😂
+1 😂😂
3:25 am 🤣🤣
1.06 am here 😂
🤔🤐😪
Me too!!
Hey, I watched this video to improve my public speaking 7 years ago for an extempore public speaking competition. Thanks to this I won not just 1 but multiple public speaking competitions, really appreciate this and ‘How to Start a speech”. Thank you!
I am average in English and my communication and presentation skills is not good what should I practice daily?
@@nithin6654 just like what in the video said, try random things, only then you will achieve excellence. People who do something more, even though they are just trying something stupid, will be better in the end than people who only do research--- reading books, looking at other's works---and only practice a little bit.
10,000 hours of practice can bring you every where.
I think the "pottery" example was so on point. Making the goal about weight vs quality, enabled the first group to work without the pressure of "perfection". That's such a great trick we can all benefit from.
I liked your comment. You have got a good point. I have to give your credit. "without pressure of perfection" words are right. If you want to be successful, you have to try again and again no matter how hard it is
Great points Conor! I share with my students and in the leadership speeches I have given this idea that you're good at whatever you have done for 10,000 hours that I had learned from an MIT course I had taken! I love your style and depth, glad to subscribe to your channel! Very valuable!!!
Sunday, 28.04.2024 I will stick to this advise and make a consistent practice until I become the greatest speaker I could be.
Welcome to the rhetorical journey 🙏
How did you do?
Recording yourself and practicing on a daily basis are amazing ways to improve your English.
I'm a Toastmasters member for the last 8 years and this is among the best advice I've ever come across about public speaking.
man you are great. it's been 12 years since this video posted and you are still more relevant than most of the people out there. thanks for advice surly starting it today
I appreciate that!
I agree! Recording your speaking and watching yourself is the best way to improve your presenting skills. I think it's because when you give yourself feedback, you've got to listen. That's why I have students bring to class their charged smartphones, so I can record them on their phones when they give their presentations. I know that they will go home, look through their apps and photos, and ask themselves, "Am I going to delete this, ignore it, or am I going to watch myself." Those who decide to watch it are headed on their way to becoming great speakers. What do you think?
Wow that's an amazing technique. 👏
Good Stuff
Very good
when you record yourself what did you say?
It's a great way to improve speaking skills.
Away from presentation evaluation, you are such a great teacher sir.
This was my first time watching one of your videos, sure, they are great and very useful.
watching your videos makes a person not only have spoken but ,have taught conversation skills.
PRACTICE... PRACTICE.. PRACTICE!!
This is really wonderful advise you gave. This advise is so helpful and useful for us.
Thank you so much for your entire speech it is great!!

I've just realized, that i was subconsciously getting better at speaking, while learning, studying English. Yeah, in addition, I'm so passionately curious, and inquisitive to listen to people, to identify who they are, and etc( end of thinking capacity 😂). Passion is contagious. You just have to be doing things you compell!
The pottery class example is the best one I've ever heard about how to get the best results through a learning process. Thank you for sharing.
I'm not really a good speaker but I can say I'm progressing well when I record self video then I listen after, then I try as hard as I can to speak more by choosing a specific topic sometimes randomly especially after reading book(s) . Thank you Conor ❤ to share this wonderful video
No filler words in this speech 💯
Once upon a time I stumbled across your channel , and it helped improve my life !!!
Thanks brother !!!
God bless you and your family !!!
Conor Neill
I was an Anthony Robbins student for years ! I’m in the ministry and I work with addictions and adults with disabilities . I’m going into law enforcement next year .
My background is neurolinguistic programming, hypnosis, psycholinguistics , and linguistics. You mentioned in one of my favorite videos you created on speaking about 10, 000 hours to really begin to master an area of any skill set. I truly appreciate your videos !
People have no idea how true that statement about mastery and 10,000 hours is dead on the money ! I’m over 40 years of age ! I’ve been studying these fields since I was 18.
I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say - I rarely meet people that really really get into this field you and I love with 100% passion !!!
The power of words and our ability to use them is both innate and ironically so new from a perspective of total understanding ! Language acquisition should be the first and last thing we study from out infancy to the highest levels of academic and personal competence ! I salute you for your passion !
Keep doing your thing , we need more teachers of knowledge like you !!!
God bless
This man has class and depth.
Thanks Neill for a such good trick to improve speaking. Its a great advice and idea to start with improve speaking.I watched so many video and tried different approaches to improve speaking. But it is one of the great video i have ever seen till now.
A powerful talk that is applicable to more than just improving speaking skills.
Indeed, when the practice becoming perfect, the perfection leads to success. Yes! hard work or smart work yields to profit.
What he said applies to almost everything in life. You don't get muscular with 1 month of training, but if you just keep going and grinding, you'll eventually attain a noticeable change in your body. If you want to get good at a game such as chess, as you play more and more against different players, ultimately you are going to master it. Wise words from this guy. Today's lesson was that no matter how little or big, always put it into the work and take action with what you have learned instead of just watching and reading the same or similar stuff about the subject.
Recording yourself each day for 3 minutes is how TickTock was born..
haha!
It depends on the subject you speak about
I am watching it 2024 and i am thinking this vedio still work for us on daily based
That guy is amazing! I will listen to him all day and not get tired.
i am talkative in the initially after watching this is.. i changed my way of speaking and talking with friends and office mates... thank you very much... we expect much from you...
Very powerful video Conor!...Your comment on recording oneself for three minutes every day...Ideas started flowing through my mind. Excellent stuff!
💣💣💣
Awsome conference! I really love the way that he approach the topic , only just do it! Don't thing about making it perfect.
Thanks Conor Neill for your valuable tips for developing personal skills.
conor neil sir this was a great advice for me that i found ever to start in front of a pc or a laptop cam
as i dont have any cams i usually collect my friends to have fun and i slowly start my topic and by following your tips my friends pay a great attention to me which help to clear my seminar in a smooth way :)
I watched so many of your videos - they are amazing. Life changing. Thank you 🙏. I noticed in many videos you always quote “ I decided or decide to do this” which I find it so empowering. I now get up every morning and ask myself ‘ what have I decided to do today’ - it turns out to be far more productive on the days I ask these questions 😊.
Wonderful! Great way of being intentional
The original book on deliberate practice is called Peak by Anders Ericsson.
In this book he noticed that everyone he studied that had achieved a significant level of succes in their field had approximately put in 8 to 10 thousand hours of practice.
But those who really excelled, let’s say the top 3 were those who practiced deliberately. Meaning they got feed back on a regular basis from a coach pertaining their efforts in order to correct the mistakes made.
Practicing 10 thousand hours whilst doing the wrong thing will not help you achieve your goal.
Leo Messi Still the GOAT after 11 years.
RONALDO IS THE GOAT.
Was he meant to become a buffalo by this time? 😂
He didn't speak English 💀
Ronaldo is the only GOAT
You mean 13 years
This is the most tangible and effective communication advice ever!
Just happened upon Conor tonight. Amazing videos, cant wait to begin the challenge he spoke of.
Thank you so much Conor for sharing your skills. I can't tell you how much your videos have inspired, motivated and helped me.
Mr. Cornor, I am very grateful to you as I found the missing link. I have been listening, reading, for more than nearly 3 years ( all famous motivational speakers Jim Rohn, Les Brown, Brian Tracey, Jack Canfiled, Bob Proctor, Tony Robbins, Ian Harvey, Zig Ziglar, Nepolean Hill etc. and their books ) and hardly attempted to follow this simple rule, you just mentioned in this video. Now I know what I need to do, going to apply this rule daily. I know I can do it. Prior listening to this video, I was randomly searching the motivational videos and was very indecisive. But your video gave me the direction. Big thanks to you, I am writing you name in my diary..as your video is the turning point of my life and would remember today's date 20th May 2016 23:50PM.
Hey how did it go?
did it work?
@@muhammadroshanmughees1586 Of course it worked if he stuck with it. if you put time into any skill in life you can learn it. no kid rode a bike on their first time, they practiced. same thing applies for this, writing, learning a new language whatever the case may be if you want to improve you need to invest the time into it, have critical thinking and improve where you lack.
Hey. I'm Joseph Renelle A. Mendoza from 12 - ABM JOBS of Eusebio HIghschool and I'd like to thank you for teaching me these lessons. I've learned from this that the best way to have improvised capabilities and in-depth quick-time analyzed speech is to just simply practice. By consistently submitting myself under the pressure of speech I am able to better myself of it, and become more fluent in the way that I present myself using my words. I've learned that with just experience, even through failure, I can better myself.
Just did my very first 3min video 😋 Thanks Conor 🙏
i take this as a sign for me to do it, and will get better every small steps! tysm for this video this is very helpful
I'd like to thank you for your helpful contribution , i really appreciate it

Thank you so freaking much. A brother really appreciates this insight!!
i'm so blazed, I don't even know how I got to this video.. I watched the whole thing though, I even smoked another big fat bong right near the end & I gotta say, that ending was pretty superb, he put a good point into perspective well. I feel like I should start learning the guitar & playing it a little each day so after 20 years I'll be awesome at it.
Lifting is the thing everyone should start doing & consistently though :p

The point about putting in the time is really true, I observed it when I saw Usain Bolt interviewed about his training and it turns out just minor things that he doesnt do once lead to him not winning. Its not his insane gift but really the work he does to use it
wow. the Teacher's voice is great and very easy to listen to these videos
Love this, Thank you.
