I visited the San Francisco Omega boutique today. I was served champagne and treated like a millionaire. I'm retiring in a few months, and owe myself a present. The hostess gushed over my Citizen Eco-Drive placed on the counter. I tried on several variations of the Aqua Terra. We narrowed my field of interest. The Small Seconds shown in this video will be the last watch I will ever need. WatchCrunch guy, you rock.
@@mikaxms Agreed. I just came across this small seconds Omega AT model on Sunday. By Monday night I had ordered it directly from the Omega website. It was in my hands on Thursday afternoon. It was kind of nice to settle on a watch you really want, and just order it right then. No hoops to jump through, no preferred customer only nonsense. It was in stock on their website, and me as a first time Omega buyer, purchased it right then and there. Couldn't be more pleased with the watch, and with Omega in general.
When you factor in the ability to change straps of differing materials without ruining the asthetic. You have yourself a classy, sporty, functional chameleon of a piece. Great review! I need this watch!!!!
I love this review. I appreciate what you said about the seconds dial. I'm not a fan, but hearing the way you articulate your affinity for the seconds movement and relate it to the entire dial is really cool.
Love the watch, love the colour, love the strap, love the minute track border, love the size! Not too sure about the crown. On balance. . . they nailed it!
I really love this watch. Tried it on at an AD. The colorway presents quite bright, by that I mean it looks almost sparkly. Tough decision between this and the green with a central second. I think the green has a slightly more business look, whilst the small second is more casual. Not a fan of the PCL on the green dial, but could imagine it on a rubber strap
Brilliant review! Bravo! This model has a magical aspect to it - on top of everything you said, due to its face design - the contrasting outer ring and the small seconds section - looks smaller on the wrist than the central seconds model, which makes it suitable for your and my 6.5 inches wrists! In this way we can enjoy all the advantages of the 41mm model with the 8916 caliber, including the ability to independently set the hour hand. Brilliant!
Can only agree to this. My wrist is also 6.5 inches and this AT version (unlike the regular one) works quite well. I purchased the same blue/grey color way and enjoying it for two months now 😊. Quiet rotor, jumping hour, extreme accuracy (+0.3sec/day), and beautiful design are a joy!
Thank you for the excellent video, I just picked up a blue face Aqua Terra 41 on blue strap, after a long time of lusting after it. The small hands is an excellent version and I like it nearly as much, your visualization of the movement is something I haven't seen on any other channel. Will be watching more of your videos.
My GADA watch of choice is the Omega Speedmaster Professional. Pair it with various straps and it can go from classy to tool watch to casual and even further. Worked great for me so far 👌
I still prefer the central seconds version, but I fully agree that the AT is the best GADA watch, if you want to call it in this way 😉. It's versatile, it has a great movement and it looks amazing. And it's an Omega. I do not need anything more than this.
That whole “Distribution of Labor for the eyes” explanation around 4:30 is about the smartest bit of explanation I’ve ever heard. This channel kicks ass.
As an owner of the previous AT Blue w/o subdial, gotta say prev AT is a strong GADA contender. The 2500 mvt variant has sloping case crown guards which I find a more appealing case, and fully brushed bracelet which tops off a super GADA contender as well. Great review M...thanks for sharing!
One of the best watch channels! Love your content man! I looked at this piece in person at a boutique and pictures just don't do it justice. It's such a gorgeous piece. I just wish it came in 38mm. I think the 41mm case and thickness is a little too large for my wrists. Must prefer a sub 40mm case so that it can be more subtle.
I have this watch since a few days, and it is much nicer in real life, the dial is just so special you can't take your eyes off, for me it is the perfect watch, highly recommend it!
I like the new small seconds. I just wish the 38mm want specifically marketed to women. I find the 41 too large for my 6.5" wrist. It probably fits fine, but visually it takes up too much wrist real estate for my wrist.... Just stands out more than I would like. The watch itself is an interesting combination of vintage and modern.
I have an AT two tone since 2010. Since it is timeless never out of fashion. I strongly recommend this watch to everybody. Remember Omegas are a little bit more fragile comparer to a Rollie but they will due
Great Video, I have been Eyeing this exact watch for 2 years now, when I stopped in at The Boutique I was initially interested in the White dial version on bracelet, I tried on this Blue one on with the rubber strap and I was “in Love”. It felt so great on wrist and it was so pleasing to the eyes. I have to go back and Try on again. Christmas is coming. 😂
I saw this watch at my AD and I am smitten. Love the colors, the small seconds, and the rubber strap looks like leather. Like the clasp too. I may go look again, which may lead to Christmas present for me! Good video, nice production value.
Nice! However an everyday watch should be subtle and understated. IMHO, Rolex air king 34 mm. Blue dial. Stainless steel bracket. The most compliment received because it screams class.
Nice video and concept. I prefer the older model, the Aqua Terra with the horizontal teak marks. I agree with you that the withe portion of the small seconds and on the chapter ring should have been way thinner for more elegance. Also the date function should had been moved to the 3 o clock position for less cluttering. Thank you for such a nice review.
No one is talking about the dial as a whole! It’s a reverse sandwich dial!!!! The bottom portion is all white and the blue portion is cut out and placed on top. All the markers are also applied and the depth is incredible. It’s seriously a must see in person!!!
I purchased my Omega and Rolex @ the same time..Omega Moon..and Rollie..white gold day/date..I adore both..BUT the Omega I couldn't live without now..the perfect watch for GADA
Jogging (80s), footing (90s), running, ... now we only have "runners", and nobody uses the appropriate Spanish word (correr/corredor) in my country Spain 😅.
Yeah this particular pretty blue dial caught my attention. That rubber strap with the on the fly adjustment gives it a smart casual appearance I guess you could buy the bracelet version for a more formal look but I don’t really like Omega bracelets so the rubber would get my vote. The small seconds aperture doesn’t bother me, this after all being a sports orientated piece not a JLC MUT Moon for example. Shame Omega just jacked their prices, but I’d expect a healthy discount anyway for a shop window piece. Great review.
I have this exact watch and I love it. I was able to work a trade including my navy blue BB58 for a brand new one of these. I haven’t missed the Tudor once … this watch delights me!!
Gorgeous...I had the first generation. Lovely watches. Kind of wish they were under 12mm thick... and a solid case back. But that's just me...my GADA is Explorer 36mm or an Omega.. maybe Railmaster
Agree with so much of your take. Naturally it’s all opinion, but it is a great watch, amazing dial, snd movement snd I even agree with your complaint about the small seconds dial. It does stand out too much. Even agree about the size, but I won’t go below 40mm. Watches are small enough already and the 38mm just doesn’t look right to my eyes. However, I actually prefer the Aqua Terra without the sundial. Lastly, I’d never recommend such a common brand, but that’s me. In fact, I avoid recommendations to newbies because my taste will not be theirs.
You picked the right watch company. I collect vintage Omega watches . I am wearing 1943 steel black face sub-dial Omega. it is a manual wind 15 jewel movement. Being a war watch it is definitely not a dress watch. Another Omega is my 1944 18k 17 jewels rose gold bumper automatic. Being like you, I have small wrists. Modern watches look too big. I might as well an Invicta. it is just that noticeable. The 1943 and 1944 are both about 34mm. That really looks tailored on my wrist. I wear gold for dress and steel every day. My Omega run from 1934 to 1964.
Wow!! Omega has just change the game with this piece. That watch is beautiful, this will bring the new watch guys in. The price just went up for Omega I my eyes..
Yes. There is so much to like about the recent iteration. From the case size, dial enhancements, to the solid bracelet. I encourage you to test drive this very special offering from Rolex.
@@WatchCrunchOfficial Namoki Stealth Divemaster dial, Namoki skeletonized SKX hands, NH38, in a 38mm 62MAS case and aftermarket tapering bracelet from WatchGecko. Setting up my tools right now, actually 👍😁
I have an older 38.5mm AQ, just got the bracelet brushed and I have to say looks amazing, they should really give you an option for brushed or polished.
Great video! I’ll recommend the watch I have as a GADA watch: tag Heuer grand Carrera WAV511 calibre 6. COSC certified and modified ETA movement with 44 hours power reserve.
Great video! The perfect GADA watch is going to be different for everyone (because we all go different places and do different things). For me, the Speedmaster is as GADA as it gets. It should be noted, I'm rarely in a large body of water, so the water resistance isn't and issue.
Subscribed. Really appreciate the quality, both of substance and production value. Appreciate the intelligent takes. One downside to the Omega 89XX movement in the 41mm AquaTerra: No quick date function. You have to rotate that quick hour function to change the date. Not huge but worth noting.
While I can understand your reasoning behind preferring a small-seconds dial over centre-seconds (and I happen to agree with time-only dress watches), I'm honestly not a fan of the sub-dial design on the 41mm models, both for its contrasting chapter ring and the way the date juts out the bottom of the ring (this is less noticable on the silver dial variant). If the 41mm used the much simpler 38mm sun-dial (the non-diamond one, anyway) I think I'd be a little more interested, but otherwise it's the centre-secpnds model for me. All of that said, everything else that you said to describe the Aqua Terra Small-seconds also describes the "regular" Aqua Terra, and are the reasons why I agree that the entire Aqua Terra line can be considered the best GADA watch on the market. Also, when you were listing some alternatives, you left out the best one: the Tissot Gentleman Powermatic 80 Silicium.
@@SD-vy9ek He explains it in the opening seconds of the video; it stands for "Go Anywhere, Do Anything". I've also heard them described as "beach to boardroom" watches, for their ability to be dressed up in a suit, yet also worn in casual settings (and also why at least 100m WR is recommended).
“Frantic little sibling” Zenith : “hold my beer!” Great video. I love this watch, but I did just recently get the silver dial original model. I do think they are both spectacular, but that date window in the small seconds area bothers me a tad. Just one of those little preferences. Awesome videography as usual Max
This new small seconds watch is definitely a candidate for GADA. I will admit though the new Grand Seiko SBGJ237 is another contender; both of which are on my future purchase list.
Mine is the blue 39mm first iteration 2503.80 serviced 2 years ago, a great GADA. Small note : the very tip of the hour hand on the 2503.80 looks very "pointy". Less so with the iterations that followed. Re similarities with 5711, also see the buckle on the first version.
Commented the title without watching the video: Because the mugging for the watch ended up being rather graphic? Afterwards: A superb good analysis once again, thanks a ton! I treat your videos as ASMR of sorts. At this stage I'm quite positive you pay people not to follow this channel :) The strap looks sexy and comfortable, however I'm only familiar with leather and metal. How do rubber ones compete against silicone straps? My intuition says silicon feels the best and is also the future, but then again I've said the same about most of my exes (talking about chemistry and not any possible implants here).
Your channel is great. My gada watch is my Seiko sarb 033. But this blue Aqua Terra is very nice! Good shots of Discovery Park Lighthouse and the Sculpture Park :-)
I have a JLC Gran Sport Reverso which meets all the criteria of GADA - as with all Reversos, its classic look make it suitable for any dress purpose. But it has a steel bracelet and is 50 m water resistant. That, plus a chronograph function, and its history as a polo watch make it suitable as a sports watch as well.
It's a nice option to have although prefer the standard version personally on the bracelet. Only disappointment I find with Aqua Terras is the lume on the hands is hard to read. Id suggest it would be better with lines on both hands. My Speedy has it and works much better as the tip does not get lost in the indices.
Just found your channel and subscribed. Your watch reviews are well done, to the point with great balance of specs and passion for the time pieces presented. Love this Omega Aqua-Terra and your review is spot on that it comes really close as a “GADA” watch…😂
Wonder what sounds worst : GOAT or GADA ? Apart from that Max, this is a great video and I quite like this Omega. Don’t understand why the brand decided to target only the female market with the 38 mm version. Ho, by the way. The best GADA watch is the Sinn556A. No two ways about it.
Love the videos - as ever. Tried this watch on today and loved it. However, I have a favour to ask. Would you mind telling me where you got the herringbone brown jacket, you wear in the intro? Looks awesome and would like to get one similar. Thanks again for the great content 👍🏻
Aboslutely right regarding the large white boarder, and for me the minutes Arrow is a bit over the top, but then I am asking too much of them. I would definitely buy this watch in a beat if they released one without the white boarder.
@@WatchCrunchOfficial BTW I was so worked up about the boarder that I forgot to say that u did a great job with the video. everything was perfect (narative, presentation and audiovisuals)..
I was lucky enough to get a Explorer 39mm on retail when it came out ;) it is my GADA but if not surely the Omega Speedmaster or a Cartier Santos could do as well :)
Your GADA mileage may vary, on your lifestyle. If you tend to lean more dressy, in an office environment JLC Master Control Date or some Grad Seikos might fit in very well. If you dress a bit more casual IWC Pilot line is great. El Primero or Defy from Zenith thread this line very well. Finally, there’s the Tudor Black Bay 36 and Oris Big Crown Pointer Date.
It's not a GADA watch if it doesn't have a date complication, so I'm going to have to eliminate the Explorer out of it. Much to the chagrin of some enthusiasts harping about symmetry (with the exception of Aqua Terra's 6oclock position)--it is a useful complication and the most sought after. In my experience, I often-times find myself annoyed when I look at my wrist and realize I put on a watch without a date. As an Aqua Terra owner myself (38mm black dial/center seconds hand), it is perfect, with its METAS certification, it can really take a beating.
This is a great video and I fully agree with your take, just one thing: I think the music starting around 1:50 is a bit loud and competing a bit with your voiceover.
Sweep seconds are more appropriate (and much easier to read) for sports watches like this. I know A Lange & Sohne and Nomos German manufacturers have starting using subsidiary seconds in their sports models, but at least they include a track with 60 indicators. Not having that track in this watch makes the seconds nearly useless for any sports activity.
I recently got hold of a panerai radiomir (without crown guard) as my gada watch,,, dressed down with a canvas strap for every day use, and can be swapped back to its leather strap for more formal occasions. Its 45mm but im a big guy with big wrists, 8 inches, so the Omega at around the 40mm mark wasnt big enough.

Subscribed. Really appreciate the quality, both of substance and production value. Appreciate the intelligent takes. One downside to the Omega 89XX movement in the 41mm AquaTerra: No quick date function. You have to rotate that quick hour function to change the date. Not huge but worth noting.
Thanks Charles! I think that's another diff between 41 vs 38. I think the 38 has quick set date whereas this is jump hour.
@@WatchCrunchOfficial Correct. Movement 88XX (38mm) has quick date but no jump hour; 89XX (41mm) is the reverse.
GADA?
@@SD-vy9ek He explains it in the opening seconds of the video; it stands for "Go Anywhere, Do Anything". I've also heard them described as "beach to boardroom" watches, for their ability to be dressed up in a suit, yet also worn in casual settings (and also why at least 100m WR is recommended).
Cool channel with quality content! Glad I found it recently.
Welcome! Good to have ya here and more to come ☝️
“Frantic little sibling” Zenith : “hold my beer!” Great video. I love this watch, but I did just recently get the silver dial original model. I do think they are both spectacular, but that date window in the small seconds area bothers me a tad. Just one of those little preferences. Awesome videography as usual Max
Thanks Michael! I actually have a Chronomaster coming up next 😉.
I GADA say, this is a stellar watch!
🥁😆
I’m prefer the central seconds version, and own one in green. Totally agree it’s a GADA watch.
Well done on the novel approach to presenting and new platform,
Enjoyed the review and my current GADA is an Oris 65 heritage blue on rubber too.
Oh man, I've had a history with the diver 65. So many to choose from 😆
Definitely, liking this Omega...almost industrial looking dial!👍
Yes, it's very well executed👏
Just came across your channel. Very impressed, great review. I’ll definitely continue to watch ( no pun intended )
Sweet! Welcome to my silly watch channel 😉
This new small seconds watch is definitely a candidate for GADA. I will admit though the new Grand Seiko SBGJ237 is another contender; both of which are on my future purchase list.
I have 38mm black dial and I am pretty happy with both bracelet and rubber strap.
That's a classy one! 👍
At this stage I'm quite positive you pay people not to follow this channel :)
The strap looks sexy and comfortable, however I'm only familiar with leather and metal. How do rubber ones compete against silicone straps?
My intuition says silicon feels the best and is also the future, but then again I've said the same about most of my exes (talking about chemistry and not any possible implants here).
Haha, I'm here for all your ASMR needs😆. I think rubber might breath a bit better than silicone? Hard to tell in consistency.
Your channel is great. My gada watch is my Seiko sarb 033. But this blue Aqua Terra is very nice! Good shots of Discovery Park Lighthouse and the Sculpture Park :-)
Good eyes! Love the SARB. Golden age of Seiko as far as I'm concerned
Aqua Terra's are truly THE best watches!
Another great review- thats all I gotta say about that- oh and I just bought one of these
First time to your channel and really enjoyed your look at this beautiful Omega. Thanks 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Cheers Brenton! Welcome 👍
Great review, totally agree, awesome ‘one watch contender!’
Cheers Nick👍
An absolutely gorgeous watch...how has Omega marketing not hired you yet?
Haha, I'll check my spam folder 🤣
All my watches are GADA
Rolex Explorer 39
Omega AT 41 SKYFALL
GS SBGN001
GS SBGA083
SRP465J1
JLC Reverso Large Small Seconds
Many Casios
I have a JLC Gran Sport Reverso which meets all the criteria of GADA - as with all Reversos, its classic look make it suitable for any dress purpose. But it has a steel bracelet and is 50 m water resistant. That, plus a chronograph function, and its history as a polo watch make it suitable as a sports watch as well.
Yes, I admire the Reverso for it's sporting history 👍
It's a nice option to have although prefer the standard version personally on the bracelet. Only disappointment I find with Aqua Terras is the lume on the hands is hard to read. Id suggest it would be better with lines on both hands. My Speedy has it and works much better as the tip does not get lost in the indices.
Yeah the lume is pretty minimal on the AT. Minute hand kinda disappears.
Great presentation.
Just found your channel and subscribed. Your watch reviews are well done, to the point with great balance of specs and passion for the time pieces presented.
Love this Omega Aqua-Terra and your review is spot on that it comes really close as a “GADA” watch…😂
Thanks William, welcome to the channel 😁👍
It’s absolutely beautiful and does everything you say
💯
Wonder what sounds worst : GOAT or GADA ?
Apart from that Max, this is a great video and I quite like this Omega. Don’t understand why the brand decided to target only the female market with the 38 mm version.
Ho, by the way. The best GADA watch is the Sinn556A. No two ways about it.
Haha, the GOAT WATCH has got to be the next video 😆. Totally agree with the Sinn, had one still miss it!
Good choice, beautiful watch
Love the videos - as ever. Tried this watch on today and loved it. However, I have a favour to ask. Would you mind telling me where you got the herringbone brown jacket, you wear in the intro? Looks awesome and would like to get one similar. Thanks again for the great content 👍🏻
Aboslutely right regarding the large white boarder, and for me the minutes Arrow is a bit over the top, but then I am asking too much of them. I would definitely buy this watch in a beat if they released one without the white boarder.
Yeah that was really a critical miss 😬
@@WatchCrunchOfficial BTW I was so worked up about the boarder that I forgot to say that u did a great job with the video. everything was perfect (narative, presentation and audiovisuals)..
I was lucky enough to get a Explorer 39mm on retail when it came out ;) it is my GADA but if not surely the Omega Speedmaster or a Cartier Santos could do as well :)
Nice, I've done that review, great watch, for me it wears big but if you got the wrist for it 👍
Superb video. Great work. Kudos
Thanks Ignacio!
38mm Aqua terra is my cup of tea!!
Such a lovely size 🤩
Hi love your video, thanks for sharing. btw just wondering does this version comes with a shorter rubber strap?
Your GADA mileage may vary, on your lifestyle. If you tend to lean more dressy, in an office environment JLC Master Control Date or some Grad Seikos might fit in very well. If you dress a bit more casual IWC Pilot line is great. El Primero or Defy from Zenith thread this line very well. Finally, there’s the Tudor Black Bay 36 and Oris Big Crown Pointer Date.
Nice list Aleksander 👍. All great choices
The normal 38mm aqua terra in silver dial is a perfect size for 7inch wrist and below and to me is the perfect gada watch.
Yeah, Wish this one came in 38 😭
It's not a GADA watch if it doesn't have a date complication, so I'm going to have to eliminate the Explorer out of it.
Yes the date is a great feature of it's gonna be your only watch. Only when done right though, it ruins the dial on so many watches.
Review is better than the watch! Nice work Max. Just meh on Omega. It's Rolex for me.
Thanks Roy 😁
Recently bought the Seamaster Diver 300m in black with bracelet, after seeing this video it's got me thinking! Shall I swap?
This is a great video and I fully agree with your take, just one thing: I think the music starting around 1:50 is a bit loud and competing a bit with your voiceover.
Noted, thanks Felix
Nice review! I'm just about to buy one so... thank you! Every day watch? Panerai Luminor
Good stuff! I need a panerai in the collection
Great review of an awesome watch!
Thanks Ty, it really is 🤩👍
Such a beautifull watch new aqua terra
I have a current Gen Omega Seamaster Professional so I’d be hesitant to get another Omega. I love the Zenith Defy Classic in Blue.
That's sweet Pete! Zenith is doing big things! Look for the next vid 😉
Yeah it's mainly decorative, but then so are most watches in general 😆
I recently got hold of a panerai radiomir (without crown guard) as my gada watch,,, dressed down with a canvas strap for every day use, and can be swapped back to its leather strap for more formal occasions. Its 45mm but im a big guy with big wrists, 8 inches, so the Omega at around the 40mm mark wasnt big enough.
I dream of pulling off a panerai as a daily 🤩
Go for it!!! You only live once!!
No date sub: unbeatable
small seconds makes sense. How often do you need the time to the second? a mechanical watch can't tell you that anyway- they're not that accurate.
It’s nice, I love the Aquaterra, but I am not sure if it’s enough to pick it over the standard 3 hand model
Definitely tough choice. The blue 38 with teak dial was one of my favs
