- Is VRChat really a productive tool for learning Japanese? We set ourselves 5 goals in order to test how well you can learn Japanese using this video game:
1. Speak to a Japanese native speaker.
2. Speak Japanese for a minute.
3. Do a self-introduction in Japanese.
4. Use a word that we recently learnt.
5. Learn a new word.

VRChat sure was an interesting challenge. Have you used it to practice another language? Will you give VRChat a go after watching this? Don't forget to subscribe for more videos!
nah this is crazy im tryna learn Japanese n I play a lot of vrchat n then I get recommended this. Edward snowden was right they be watching us Lmao
10:03 だべる。”Daberu" means to chat needlessly and lazily. It is like a slang. It is used among good friends, both adults and young people.
Thank you for leaving this comment! Even after all this time, we never really knew what was said here so appreciate it! 😊

Hi Roy this is so interesting. I think you made a great video that is underappreciated. You just need more exposure
That's really kind of you to say Grant! We're glad you enjoyed it 😊
I want to improve my Japanese by talking to other people in the language but I can't get myself to talk to strangers with my small Japanese knowledge 〒▽〒
It can be really scary to try and start talking to people! Maybe try practicing common conversation questions by yourself first so you know what you might say if you talk to a stranger. Also, in your everyday life, you could try and talk about simple things you are doing, out-loud in Japanese to get used to making sentences. 頑張って!
@@RoyandAimee Alright! ありがとございます! (^∀^●)ノシ
I really wanna improve my japanese to get to your level. Fun video
Thank you for watching and good luck with your learning journey! We still have a long way to go but little by little we'll get there 💪
I liked it sooo much! You both are really cute! I would like to see more. Greetings from Germany!!!
I am a regular on Poppy Street, but it's definitely not an experience for beginner learners. There are way too many colloquialism thrown in, casual language and non-standard constructions used in there.
Yeah think you're 100% right. Since uploading this video a year ago, our Japanese has improved a bit. I think at an intermediate level is when you can get more out of using VR chat for Japanese practice. Especially if you're not living in Japan though, even as a beginner it can be a good way to see what 'real' Japanese is like compared to textbooks.
*' I tell you my Japanese really suck'*
😂😂 Mine too. Tbh, I am learning too now, cause we are here lock down. TT n TT. Umm... Konichiwa! はじめまして! 💓
Hahaha ours too 😅 Good luck with your learning!
@@RoyandAimee do u guys use apps to study Japanese? If yes, can u recommend me some? お願いします😩
Hmmm, for beginners I would recommend Human Japanese, free on the App Store! But for medium level, probably finding a conversation partner on Hello Talk would be good. I’m not a huge fan on memorisation apps 😅
@@RoyandAimee oh? So.. U don't use apps? Or u watch animes 😂
Haha Roy does watch a lot of anime actually! But yeah sorry, we don’t really use apps. When we started out we had an online teacher on italki, which was really helpful for learning grammar.
I like your videos :) you guys are so cute together❤️
Aw, you actually just made our day! Thank you so much for watching our video! :)
How did you get started using VRChat to learn japanese? I want to give it a try too but don't know ow to get started.
It's probably important to know a little bit of Japanese first and then use VR chat to practice saying what you've learnt. You kinda just need to put yourself out there and start talking to people. Some may not want to talk, but others can be friendly. And in the end, it's online so it can be less nerve-racking than if it was real life 😊
Been studying Japanese for almost a year now just Abit bad at grammer
this comment is very late and you've probably figured it out by now but you can turn off personal space so you can get closer to people and still see their avatars
how to meet japaneses in VR CHAT?
ohh that's cool. I never would have that that vrchat would help ahahahha. I'm dumb
Haha not at all! You definitely need to persevere with it a little to get practice but it can be a good help 😊
how long have you been studying
We studied on and off in Australia for 1 and a half years and when we made this video we had been living in Japan for 6 months.
We couldn’t really speak Japanese before we came to Japan at all though so finding ways to practice speaking was really important for us.
What’s this game? Please tell me
Thanks for watching - it's called VRChat.
@@RoyandAimee how are you guys able to use this without a VR headset?
@@Way_Of_The_Lightdesktop version on steam
I’ve been looking for the Azakashi (harp seal) avatar forever! Where can I find it? Thank you.
Honestly there's so many avatar-choosing worlds, the best way is to just clone it from someone you pass by.

I laughed when you abort 😂
Haha at that point in time, I didn't know what else to do! 😅

he was making fun of the way you accented 食べてる
Ah lol thank you for pointing that out! The response was confusing, so I definitely knew I'd said something wrong. I need heaps more work on my accent! 😆
I have a bit of motion sickness i might puke after using it
Oh no! Yeah Roy gets pretty bad motion sickness as well but so far VR games are ok for him.
