I Pretended to be Chinese in VRChat then Switched to Perfect English...

- Today in VRChat my friend Matt and I (both white Americans) used our fluent language abilities to pretend to be Chinese and Japanese. People were totally shocked when we revealed that we were in fact American! This was a really interesting prank / social experiment, and if you’d like to check out more examples of Matt’s amazing Japanese, be sure to check out his channel at Matt vs. Japan: / mattvsjapan

his chinese accent is really foreign sounding, so its kinda obvious hes not chinese
This guy straight up stole some Japanese guys soul. I don't know why everyone is so chill.
Lol that's not surprising with enough study and practice. One of my friends fluently speaks over 18 languages exactly like a native. She studied for many years and she's really good at mimicking accents.
@@maya_jones3411 How do you know she speaks exactly like a native?
@@maya_jones3411 dude, its practically impossible to speak 18 languages completely fluent like a native

That guy interviewing him to find out where hes from at 6:10 is a straight up anime charactor lmfao "he sounds japanese, but him asking this question suggests hes not" aha wtf
What do you mean he's an anime character?
@@L33PL4Y He probably means that he talks like an anime character
I've been studying japanese for a bit now, and he could've just easily said "はー、私はそれを疑い" but I think he was just going for a, "now that he's asked multiple times, i'm questioning it", but I think what he said there was "彼が尋ねられた今、私はそれを疑う-"
That’s not being an anime character that’s just called deduction 😐
Nah it totally gave me anime vibes, it's like an anime-type sentence.
Xiaoma is amazing, but Matt’s command of Japanese is on another level to Xiaoma’s Chinese
They are both at near native levels of fluency in their respective target languages...
That is simply not true. Xiaoma’s Mandarin is nowhere near native-like. He speaks with simple words on simple topics, and has an extremely obvious American accent.@@Words-of-encouragement.-.

True! But that would be very fun.
I doubt he will have to bleep a lot of racist things lol don't let the media make you think racism is super rampant. It's not.
I don’t know about that, butt if they say racist things, it’s probably ironic.

That Taiwanese guy was too funny
english native: **speaks another language**

non-english native: **speaks english**

I think that’s because for some reason English has become the “trade language” if that makes sense. Like businessmen and people that travel abroad for work are expected to know at least a bit of English. Someone else help me explain it. It’s in my brain and idk words anymore 😂
Really sucks cuz English isn’t even an interesting language. Doesn’t even sound nice.

That’s where I want to be too! We have to just keep at it! 頑張れ!
How many brothers do you have? Did the whole family go to China for that year you lived in Beijing? I stumbled across your channel and have been binge watching for about two weeks. You have me interested in learning Chinese, even though I am 63. I am retired and at home all the time, so the virus hasn’t made any difference in my life, except for being more connected to my family. I have six sisters, and they all want to do group things on line, we have been doing hour sessions every few days. NYC must be so different. I watch you and your friends getting takeout, and you speaking perfect Chinese, and related dialects. LOVE IT! The looks on the faces when you speak makes me laugh! You make their day! Wish I could go to China and submerse myself in the culture for a year or two like you did. Did you know all the Americans that you take with you to eat from school or does the language bring you together? I could keep this up all day, but would bore you to tears! So long! From: Roger in Pierre South Dakota.
