i got to talk to chris couple months ago in LA, really cool down to earth dude. i asked him his favorite gar memory and he mentioned the metallica in centerfold story, i thought that shit was really funny hahaha you can tell gar had a certain vibe on mustaine, he said to make peace sells shorter when it was originally 7 minutes, and told dave he should focus on political stuff in his lyrics, im such a big fan of gar its a shame there isnt much about him online, fantastic drummer. I was stoked to hear fatal opera 3 with the tracks with chris poland on them. i listened to the new yorkers on youtube too and was just fkn blown away
I have a short list of my favorite guitarist I keep on my phone Chris Poland is on it for his unique sound, technique, and his solos are so different than what you would would expect Other guitarist on my list: Brett Hines Alex Lifesone Jeff Beck Ty Tabor Guthrie Govan Eric Johnson Al Dimeola
anytime i see anything new with Chris Poland, i watch that shit. His work in Megadeth is just outstanding, especially to all of us block-head metal heads.!! To bring in a couple guys into thrash metal like that... Chris and Gar's level of musicianship was the perfect recipe for peoples faces getting vaporized with ease. A lot of his solo work (fusion) just fucking rips man.... Gar was also a complete freak of nature, born to play the drums.. It really is a huge loss that he went so early on.. RIP.
Metalopolis is one of my favorite instrumental albums of all time. I remember getting really spun out on meth years ago and geeked out on this album for days. Seriously, this album played non stop day and night for 3 days and I didn’t get a wink of sleep (or eat/drink) the whole time….i get a buzz just hearing it.
Can't say enough about Chris's talent, tone, style, phrasing, skills. Check out his fusion band the New Yorkers. This guy was ripping heads off in 1980.
Next time we definitely need to hear about Damn The Machine. One of the all-time great Metal albums that’s also really underrated. I used to get sick all the time flying. Earplanes will stop the eardrum bursting. Bulletproof exec was where I found that info. It also talked about shooting Xlear nasal spray. It must really be anti-viral. Once I knew someone exposed me to Omicron I started shooting it. While it didn’t completely remove covid from my nose, the only respiratory symptom I got was some slight lightheadedness. Otherwise it was like having like having a milder form of the early 2013 Chicago norovirus that lasted for a week. Quercetin may have played a role to some degree. Only vaccine I had was one J&J. The person I got it from had more respiratory symptoms than me but no noro type stuff. My problem was probably caused from swallowing the nasal stuff that the Xlear hit. We definitely want legends like Chris to prolong their health, so I’m glad to offer up knowledge that will help. Chris is right that the tinnitus will be curable in the near future. Really great that you got him on here and that he’s optimistic about the future.
My only complaint with that album is the other people doing overdubs/harmonies. Kinda like Ozzy’s No Rest of the Wicked, like WTF do you need like backup singers lol??? Asides from that minor critique- that album rocks
The first two ohm records are up there with any of the great instrumental fusion stuff. Megadeth was such a small part of his career and his playing ability, its annoying to see him have to entertain people constantly pestering him about it
Id love to see either marty or chris to return to Megadeth full time. These new guys just arent it for me. Probably not gonna happen but with kiko leaving I wish dave would call up either chris or marty.
Return to Metalopolis is probably one of the best Instrumental album ever released ! Brilliant guitar album and Mark Poland is a beast on the drums.
I love that album
Very underrated album. Not a lot of publicity about it back then
Great album
The Drums are one of the best things about Metalopolis

One of the greatest guitarists ever. Certainly the most underrated
Rip Gar- savage on the drums and on Dave Mustaine lol
I saw Chris and Mark with Damn The Machine, opening for Voivod on the Outer Limits tour in 1993.
Yes!!!! Home run. Great job. I hope your listeners know the level of excellence you interviewed, chris is way underated,
I have a short list of my favorite guitarist I keep on my phone

Chris' solo on "My Kingdom" is the best part of the song!
The album would have been more successful if Dave took him on tour...

Wow, Chris Poland, great guest! I got my youngest son a Cameo from Dave Ellefson. He did a great job :)
Megadeth fans are the worst LMAO
@@twerktospec I think you might be lost. There should be a several thousand circle jerk threads with which to take this pathetic troll job.

He is the GOAT !! I'm commenting this literally in every Poland video lol. But he is and will always be the best
FUCK YEAHHH
Guitarrevolution - Alex Skolnick Trio, OHM:, and Marty Friedman - West Coast Tour 2003. I have recordings of some shows.
Please post it.
@@Salisboury would have to dig those up and I only have OHM:'s sets

I saw Poland on the return to metalopolis tour in T.J. Mexico.
Chris vino a Mexico?!

Chris Poland is the best guitarist Megadeth has ever had. When he left the band took a turn for the worse.
Poland is awesome but that’s just ignorant to say.
Yup, good ole Dunkirk High School
If this interviewer says "wow" one more time I'm throwing my phone off the planet.
