I learned this from some New Zealand truck drivers while working in Iraq as civilian contractors back in 2004. I have never had one come loose.

I was born & raised in the trucking profession. After a hitch in the military, i followed in my dad's footsteps & drove trucks for 25+ yrs until a low back injury put a permanent braking stop to my career. I did alot of OTR (over the road) flat bedding/drop deck loads through the years. A driver once showed me an awesome way to stow & put away the "excess" strap behind any flatbed trailer ratchet. I have since then shared that awsome "excess strap stow away" idea to alot of other fellow truckers who had trouble trying to stow the excess strap away! I wish i could make a video to show you how it was done & there was no knot of anykind in this "excess" like ya have shown here. I'm most certain you would like my idea. Cool video you showed though & hopefully will help other who see this. Take care, God bless, & be safe.

@@felixfong6532 Yessir. . . . .i surely wish i could as well. I dunno anything bout trying to make a video of anykind, much less to share here on you tube. And try to write it here on how to do it would confuse the whole world without a visual of anykind. . . . . .DAGGUMIT ALL!!! And its real simple as eating a slice of homemade pie. . . . . !!! Maybe if ya was to friend me over there on Facebook Messenger. . . . perhaps i could git my girldriend to help me with a video sometime soon & i could show ya. I just dont know how to explain it without a visual of somekind as ive stated earlier. . . . . . also ITS NOT "my idea" as mistankly meantioned. I sure would love to share it with ya, by golly!
On Facebook Messenger is my name. . . .RODNEY LEONARD & my profile picture is that of a dark blue Kenworth W-900L w/ midroof sleeper. Hit me up over there & i'll try to do my best to try & share it. Anything i can do to help out a fellow driver of anykind cuz we all gottuh stick together. . . . .10-4??? Truck Safe out there

Thnx for this video! I've hauled for many years, and NEVER saw this method used! I thought I had used them all .... I did flat-bed OTR throughout the Continental US and Canada, and fought straps with about every type of system, but never saw this one until your video. I only use the small straps now, but I'm looking fwd to trying this technique on those to see if it works equally as well. Thnx again!

G'day ,thanks for the tip, by the way I noticed that the end/tail of the strap comes out under the handle , this is a tip I learned not so long ago as well ,when you connect the strap and racket together just before ratcheting (the ratchet must start of closed) and the tail/end of the strap should be entered under neath and exit out the top , so that as you ratchet ...the tail ends up behind ( the ratchet has the potential to come unlocked the way you have it ) ( if that strap was to catch on something then tit lifts the ratchet handle it will become unlocked ...hope you understand what I meant
