Those decals look great to me, I think the colors of the decals are right on not too dark not too light... just right. The ship looks great, awesome job Boyd.
Oh boy, I've had an AMT Enterprise E sitting in my closet for 20 years and I'm finally looking to build it. What timing to have this video series released! Can't wait to watch the whole thing. thanks!
Fantastic Boyd! I love that you try new things. The window idea is perfect. It turned out beautiful. Thanks for sharing your models with us all and showing how you build them.
Brilliant work Boyd! Seeing this build up has really inspired me to get back to this kit again as lighting it always scared me off. But the paint scraping method has worked so well that I have to give my own kit a go now. I'll also have to get those decals too as they look fantastic!
Great! Just find a scraping tool that isn't too sharp and also fits those window ports (toothpick works great). You won't be disappointed with the decal set.
I have had this kit in my stash for years because I always light my builds and I always felt I wouldn't be able to do this one justice. Also I have never really liked using aztec decals because they don't look right to me. But having watched this build series I now think I can have a go at it. Both the window scraping technique and the quality of these decals have sold me on it. Thanks Boyd!
Boyd awesome work on the Enterprise E the details on the decals are 2 thumbs up will pick up a set when Jerry has them available like always you do awesome work on the lighting effects the nacelles look amazing thanks for the update looking forward to the base and final wrap on this build have a great day.
Wow, what a beautiful job! I'm working on a 1:1400 D model that was one of the old fiber optic kits. I've been drilling and applying canopy glue to create the windows rather than using the original fiber optics, but of course it's not nearly as clean as the scraping method and definitely could not create the smaller windows shown here. If I ever do one of these again in the future, I'm definitely going to use the scraping method with a clear model.
I agree. I am just starting to fill my 1/1400 E with Micro Krystal Clear, and they are not as clean as the scraped windows on Boyd's kit. Have a clear Enterprise D that will work with the scraping technique. Just light blocked a bit differently.
I built the clear D a few years ago and the scraped windows looked good on it as well. The plastic on that kit was very brittle though. Molded in white is just fine. I am already working on the new Voyager kit and will use the same method again.
Hi Ya Tag, yep I've already started on the Voyager kit. it will work even better on it. Also the fit is way better with modern mold design. It shouldn't have many light leaks due to gaps like the E kit does.
@@TrekWorks I have the kit too. I haven't started it yet though. I am working on the Bandai Razorcrest right now. Yeah, the new tool is really great! Looking forward to seeing your Voyager build!
Man, looks good! Can't lie, I love this little beastie of a model kit. Currently working on my third one and so far I have been taking the eons to drill out the windows but for sure will be doing your window method from here on out! Have a forth one gonna start in the upcoming months. The candle flicker LEDs work out really well. I hope to find the conversion parts again for a true Nemesis build! Keep building!!
These models are really hard to find these days, just found one on Ebay. I will most certainly take some of your tips on building it especially for the windows. I just finished my Galaxy class and drilled those windows out, it took me two days.
Beautiful work. I enjoyed watching you create this stunning ship. You have inspired me to dust off my E model that has been sitting since 98 and put it together. Do you have a material list of what you used for the wiring for handy shopping?
A very inspirational series of videos, thanks for sharing your experience with us! I have some questions: 1: did you paint the PE grills under the blue nacelle part or did you glue them in naked and which glue did you use for that? 2: did I understand correctly that you used transparent blue on the upper nacelle part from the outside and flat white from the inside? If so, did you cover the blue layer of paint on the outside with some clear laquer? Thanks in advance, your videos are truly helpful and a valuable resource! Greetings from Germany, Enno
Thanks Thomas, not bad for a first try on this kit. I learned some things about the order of assembly and paint I'd do different on the next one to make it a lot easier.
Really pleased that First Contact decals are being considered; there are Nemesis sets, but nobody seems to want to build the ship as seen in the only TNG movie people actually like :D
Boyd always enjoy your bills I only wish I could have seen how you attach the work driving to cells to the pylons was kind of disappointed didn't see that cuz that was the tricky part of my build
Great work Boyd! You didn't mention it that I recall, but did you notice the missing row of windows on the port side of the primary hull, above the nav beacon between the two banks of lifeboat pods? AMT/Round2 missed it when they molded the kit. They're on the filming model. Maybe they'll ad them if they re-pop this kit? Nah, probably not. 😁
Looks great, Boyd! I think it turned out pretty darned nice. Wouldn't it be nice to get the C/D/E in 1000 scale? It would be an impressive model if so!
Hi Boyd, the scraped, gloomy windows look awsome. I am looking for a greyish color to cover the bussards and impulse engines and the nacells to make em look more realistic when unlit in daylight. I would like the ships to look completely unpowerd in daylight but in darkness I seek the typical lit up in space look. I will sand the clear parts but do you have a tip for the greyish colortoning? I think it has to be on the outer surface. Regards
You'll have to use an airbrush to spray it on so it can be fine enough to cover but not look splattered when it's lighted. I would choose a color you like in a water based paint and try it. If it doesn't look good you can just wipe it back off with water and not ruin the lens.
That looks beautiful. Do you know if those triangular sections on the back of the saucer are going to be darkened before these are finalized? They're like a medium gray on here, but on the studio model they're almost black.
You've always motivated me with your builds ever since the Enterprise-A . I'm going to try your method of scraping and see how much I can endure with my next build the Enterprise-E. Can't wait to see the base. Will you be installing any sounds or music to the base ? LLAP
Hello, this is fantastic!! I’ve been looking everywhere for these models for sale already assembled, do you do these professionally and sell them? I see the A and the refit sometimes assembled, but this is the first E I’ve seen done this professionally. If you don’t sell them, do you know where someone might? My hands shake to bad to assemble a stack of toast much less an entire model🤣🤷♂️ great job on the E! I subscribed to check out your other vids
Amazing work, i'm really impressed! I follow your channel for 5 or 6 years, and every video shows me new stuff how i can bring my models to life! Can you pls tell me where i can buy the fading LEDs for the bussard effect? Looks amazing! I am from Germany, but i can't find these LEDs to buy!
One thing I noticed is that you didn't do the spotlight from the middle onto the designation on both the dorsal and ventral sides of the saucer section. Was there a reason for that, or was it just missed?
just to let you know, Boyd; the Moebius 1/4105 scale Battlestar Galactica model can have aftermarket decals for the aztecing... and it looks to be a nightmare! I saw someone having done all those decals, and they said it was a pain in the butt! I'm currently building my own model of the Galactica and I did consider (briefly) using them. Instead, I am doing my own aztecing by painting by hand, a pain in the butt itself, but more fun for me (and I'm modifying my model to be the Blood and Chrome version with full armor plating and twice the guns!).
okay, okay, okay! I just bought my aftermarket decals for mine, never mind painting it! I've been giving it a lot of thought, and the decal aztec would be more realistic... LOL!
But is the overall hull color still this almost white grey from part 1? Because it seems so much darker know or maybe the decals just make it seem like that
What version of the HDA decals did you use? Just been on Jerry’s site and there’s three different versions - just curious and now I have to go and get one of these kits. Santa is getting a BIG list this year. Would be awesome to get this one in a slightly bigger scale at some point.
I used Folk Art craft paint called Wicker White. it turns a little darker when you spray the matte clear over it and I think it looks good with the color of the decals.
@@TrekWorks thanks boyd I appreciate im building that ship sometime next week...hey a while back I ask u about the land of the giants spindrift....they repopped the kit with way better decals than the previous kit a company called DOLL AND HOBBY these craft acrylic paints are awsome my models look great ...thanks again boyd 🖖
It looks better with the scraped as opposed to drilled out windows BUT either way you're talking tedious work to prepare it for lighting! LOL It still looks wrong without the neck, though. I know the justification for this but it still looks squashed... Clearly inspired by the TMP Enterprise. This is when they started to try to turn TNG into TOS and that may be part of why that film series was shorter than the TOS cast movies. Picard's not Kirk. Never understood the reasoning for destroying the Enterprise-D in the film Generations. That was their Enterprise...
Another museum piece....awesome talent!
Thanks.
This model could be in a movie, what a beautiful build!
She’s a beauty Boyd. Thanks for the update. Looking forward to seeing the base.
Those decals look great to me, I think the colors of the decals are right on not too dark not too light... just right. The ship looks great, awesome job Boyd.
Rest in peace Boyd, you will be missed
I've watched this build twice in as many years. I still wish I owned one. Beautiful as always, Boyd!
That looks amazing. Boyd. Love the scale of the lights.
Thanks Shawn, it did work out pretty well.
Great job on this beautifully detailed smaller model. You can appreciate all the intricacies of the Enterprise E. Thank you for this series.

pristine, just gorgeous as always Boyd! Fine fine work!

The light and tiny details look really great. Very realistic looking in a small scale.

Oh man the E looks gorgeous Boyd great Job
Thanks Heath.
Ohhh you did a gorgeous job on this! It’s a work of art. Bringing back the same feelings I had when I first say it in first contact!
It's my 3rd favorite Enterprise design behind the Original and the A. I like the sleek looking lines.
Nice work Boyd! Jerry’s decals look fantastic. Thanks for sharing.

Absolutely phenomenal build! Much respect Boyd!!!!
The E looks beautiful!! I am really loving the decals and wouldn't change anything about them. And, thanks again for using our board in the ship :)
The decal set is nice and wasn't hard to apply at all. The control board worked perfect and was easy to install too.
Man, this is just beautiful Boyd! This one really turned out fantastic! I think you got the brightness spot on.
I had some doubts but lighting through the plastic worked out well.
Impressive is little, a great masterpiece, all a beauty of a very well-finished piece
