Hi Dan very nice build and very informative video as usual. Good looking ship. Could you please tell me what magnifying goggles you use. I like the look of the small eye glass on the side as I always have to flip the goggles I have up then pick up an eye glass that becomes a bit tedious very quickly. I'd also be interested to know what small drill you're using as I've just picked up an old AMT/ERTL DS9 space station kit,the old one with fiber optics and I don't fancy drilling 1000 holes with a pin vice. Cheers.
The headset I use is this one, www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B09N18TCPG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1 A really good cheap option, that works very well. That ERTL kit comes with a drill, doesn't it? But I use this, www.amazon.co.uk/ARROWMAX-Electric-Aluminium-Cordless-Rechargeable/dp/B0BQ3BR825/ref=pd_aw_pspc_dp_d_1_t_1?pd_rd_w=cg494&content-id=amzn1.sym.fcaba306-35f5-4217-87ef-c725d937bd6e&pf_rd_p=fcaba306-35f5-4217-87ef-c725d937bd6e&pf_rd_r=3HN107GPXKFGR6V24QV8&pd_rd_wg=1zJal&pd_rd_r=1608d994-1ee8-42aa-beaa-81d4b6e1efbe&pd_rd_i=B0BQ3BR825&th=1 which get it down to a 0.6. With a bit of 'ingenuity' I can get it to take a .4. But for smaller, I use a pin vice. Thankfully not too often :) However, for 1701-E, because the kit is translucent, I didn't drill, I was able to scrape out the windows. But for the ERTL you're going to have to drill. I have the latest "clear kit" DS9 release from AMT, Clear in name only, they just re-released the old kit, clear. So, I’ll be in the same boat as you when I get around to it. Cancel Reply
Hi Dan @@dansmodeluniverse I ordered the drilling template from Severn View Hobbies and it arrived this morning. As you said you need the drilling template even for the clear version. The instructions say NOT to use a powered drill and just a pin vice, wow, that will be a sore hand. I expect it's not going to be a quick job then :) The goggles look good however so I might see if someone can give me them for Christmas. Thanks again for the advice and keep building cheers.
The usual places like Amazon seem to be sold out at the moment. I picked up the kit about 6 months ago. I see its on Ebay alright, but ridicuous prices.
Now I'm into models and it's your fault. And not just "models" but those realistic pieces of art. Shame on you sir, shaaaaammeeeeeee. But seriously. Your trek models are fireeee
Can you provide a parts list of what you purchased as i would love to build on myself.
Painting before assembly gives me headache just from watching. Awesome Build !
This is my favorite Enterprise.
Listening to classical music while you build the E is sooooooo TNG. Well done and Make it so! 😊
RUclips audio library didn't have any Berlioz :)
You make the difficult look easy. Very enjoyable video.
a little patience and a lot of tape :)
That is a cool model, you did a great job making her.
Thanks, appreciate that
That looks phenomenal!
Wow! Amazing work! Congratulations on the results!
Nice work!
May I ask what kind of pin vise you are using? :)

Thanks Ralph

😅Well I've been accused of worse 😅
HOW MUCH ??? Im sure someone wants to know also...lol
I actually can't recall, but it was about $40-50 on amazon (and then another 20 for the lighting kit)
