Actually one of the biggest downsides and a huge imbalance point. In a half-dozen mission your Good armies will be unbeatable. If that wasn't enough, you don't need an army at all past MT, just play Gondor with heroes and summons. Isengard may not have the healing, but has sheer numbers to compensate. Mordor is more or less the only faction you have a semblance of normal gameplay, because the sheer amount of Gondor Rangers popping up in 'first wave' during normal maps will make laughably quick work of the trolls and Mumakil, forcing you to rebuild from the ground zero, like the enemy.
This is one of the greatest levels in video games in terms of making it feel like the movie. You build your forces in an attempt to protect your fortress, but still struggle throughout the entire 15 minutes. The clock counts down and down and your forces and slowly getting worn down. You lose more and more of your forces and it’s not looking good, you’re chances of winning seem slim. Then the massive Rohirim army you’ve been building with Gandalf over the past few missions show up and save the day, absolutely wrecking all the Uruks. It was awesome.
At this battle, usually, I let them destroy just a piece of the wall so that they would always try to enter through there so I would slaughter them with the archers. I had anticipated Black Panther's technique!
I suppose the game wouldn't have been able to handle it, but I always wish there were more attackers. I don't think I've ever lost this mission in all the times I've played it. The Deeping Wall sometimes falls if a mine slips past, but the keep is very easy to defend. I mean, even in this video they broke through the wall and you still held it :P
GrrrIamMad With good micromanagement you can win this without the walls being destroyed at all. I let them intentionally in so the things would be more like in the movie. I just fucking loved the movies so much. It s a shame there are so few lotr good games out there. I would love a lotr mmorpg. Or more games whatever. (I dont like LOTRO tho)
Try the classic edition on ModDB :) It's amazing ( I know this is a late reply but still ) - adds loads more units to the good campaign, epic helms deep and minis tirith, better graphics too
You should try Sargon Alliance mod you can't kill the battering ram or berserk. Gate and wall breached anyway so it is difficult as fuck to win. I couldn't ever win on hard difficult. Sargon Minas Tirith was awesome too
I remember the first time I ever did this mission everyone died right as Eomer showed up and most of his unit got wiped out I barely won then it glitched on the victory screen and I had to redo it all over again.
How did you get fire arrow and armury improvements so quickly ?? I build the armory right when the gae starts and it's still not level 3... And I play "easy" mode lol
Was able to do this level quite comfortably on hard with only the units you're given and without upgrading them. All you have to do is retreat to the inner wall of the keep and get your heroes to cover the gates. Nothing gets through.
Or making all the preparations on Hard Minas Tirith, then sitting there sipping tea the moment Mordor shows up and not touching a thing. By the time the undead appear the best they managed is the gate.
@@Bonedripper Yeah, they are too tough to shoot now, even with fire arrows. I only managed to win this mission by massing all my archers (both Yeoman and Elf) to the crossroads on the wall, and guard them with tank heroes (Aragorn, Gimli, Boromir). This patch balanced a lot of things in multiplayer and made the game look prettier, but made some single player missions much more difficult than before, especially in the Good Campaign.

A) get a couple batallions with fire arrows, put them on the deep wall. B) each of the 4 Isengard waves will have 1-2 mines, target them with those batallions the moment they are in range. C) Use Gimli at the gate to take down battering rams and retreat back. D) Use cavalry remaining/summons/Aragorn to take down the Siege Works. Congrats, now they can't get into the fortress no matter what they do.
@@Bonedripper Not only they won´t release it themselves but they will not allow anyone else to release it. And the expasion of BFME 2: Rise of the Witch King is also not being allowed to be release.
I did a horrid job on this the ballista never got within range lost every hero except Gandalf was down to last line of defense keep at 1/3 hit points they had a ballista shooting over the wall and I had two injured units of elves defending that spot until reinforcements came was on medium should’ve done a lot more to hold the wall

Using strategy is what I did to keep my army strong throughout the story. But playing the battle like the way it was shown in the movie sounds like fun lol

I found a super easy way to win on any difficulty. You do exactly what you said and put all of your units on the highest wall close to the main hall. Just camp up there the whole time and also have atleast 1 well built so that your units keep healing. It's a cheap strategy, but it's easy and funny. Lol
Keep a small force of cavalry to clear any wall climbers and archers with fire arrows to clear ladders. Use fire arrows to blow up mines if you can avoid losing the wall or use legolas to kill it.
Nah i still use old windows so i can play old games as they were gold. And newer games works as well. Win win. Unless for work idk why anyone would use windows 10 gaming wise. It limits your gaming experience by a LOT
you're jokign right? it's one of my favorite games of all time, I played it for many years and it has much better graphics. Look at the tutorial videos embedded in the game, the textures look much better. You probably just set the game to highest graphics and by dfault(error of the developers) it sets textures to lowest level for some reason. Try configuring graphics yourself and set everythign to maximum. You'll be surprised how much better it looks. The game is not that old. In your videos however it looks like something from the end of 90-s or even mid 90-s. Other than graphics though, your playthroughs are awesome.

umm no dude, always only played the version 1.0. Try searching for other vids on youtube, I'm sure you'll find those with high texture settings It;s not a theory.
i played this mission, let isengard siege destroy all my army, made horsemen units and let the balista kill all but 1 of them, had a full army filled with 1 unit horsmen, and upgraded them all with banner, needless to say, minas tirith was laggy as hell
This Game is Awesome once you use the Cheats and make a crap lot of command points to actually make an army. The Default command points are non it only allows you to create a small band of warriors.
A feature I loved about this game was that if your units survived in a mission, they were added to your army in the next at no extra cost.
And that also includes upgrades and unit squad levels which also will carry over which makes the strategy across the game extremely cheap! Hahaha!
