    I have a very high medial arch and an almost flat lateral arch so the gamechanger’s moldability makes them very suited for my use. I was surprised by how much they expand when they mold. That might be why the stitching was required, the change in volume can be quite remarkable and there’s no way for adhesive to hold.
    Obvious downside is that if you need a lot of heel pocket on your footbed they probably aren’t the way to go because the gamechangers don’t gain much of one when molded.
    And the idea behind the flat insoles is a barefoot shoe style measure, the idea being to intentionally not support the arch to force your foot to be stronger, though I wouldn’t do this with snowboard boots for a variety of reasons.

    Definitely worth it to try different types of insoles and see what works for you. I use a variety of Remind for snowboarding, hiking, everyday walking, and dress work shoes. Definitely help with my foot alignment, arch support, and impact dampening.
    Medics and Medic Impact for snowboarding and everyday, and the OG Cush model for some shoes with less vertical space up front.
    I bought a pair of the Remind Cushes for my mom, she started to have knee and foot issues about a year ago. She is in her late 60's and has been doing a ton of Ballroom and Latin dancing, like 2x a weekend almost every week for years. She said they were a game changer for her.

    • @AngrySnowboarder
      @AngrySnowboarder  2 месяца назад

      First off shoving them in an oven to mold them isn't going to change how I feel about these. Second off shoving them in an oven and not having a last to use to build a heel pocket and form an arch isn't going to help them. You guys are being sold a feature that you can't even properly use. You're getting maybe 20% of what you should from these. I've built a couple thousand insoles over the 10 years I was a boot fitter. If you don't have a last to build the footbed from it's worthless as it won't develop a real heel pocket to stabilize the ankle and line it up to the internal jbar, you can't build the arch properly or tweak it to compensate for supination or pronation. Basically you're not doing shit to help yourself and more than anything I'm betting it's sucking up volume in a boot that's probably too big for you and not fitting right.

    I wouldn’t completely write the FPs off. Those things rule for skateboarding. The elite foam is super dense and durable. It doesn’t ever pack out and get paper thin in the toes like your typical insole.
    And the impact protection is great. I’m just not sure how much it’s needed in a snowboard boot, because I’ve never gotten a heel bruise in boots. I imagine that the dampening is pretty good though.

      I run Superfeet Winter Thin. I find their arch support to be much more supportive and a fair bit longer than Remind. Definitely high enough for my feet, which have higher arches.
      That said, I had to put one size up in my boots and cut more off the end to get a long enough arch support, even with their longer arch (insole size E in 32 TM2 Jones, size 8).
      Have had no issues with lack of heat, even in -30 days. Didn't have cold issues in my old boots either- Burton Kendos. IMO the important part of insoles for warmth is making sure the insole fits your foot contour as well as possible, so you can bootfit better to distribute pressure evenly, and allow your foot (mostly toes) to wiggle, but not move in the boot. This way you don't cut off circulation, and you can wiggle your toes to keep blood flowing when you stand still. Better blood flow means warmer feet.
      @@AngrySnowboarder You mentioned good for mid-low arches for Winter Support- what are your thoughts on Superfeet with arch support matching your arch? I know they have various arch heights & shapes, and the shops near me that sell them seem to sell more green/copper/carbon than winter for snowboarding.
      As well, your opinion on importance of heel &/or forefoot cushioning vs each other & arch support? I always found good arch support helped the front enough that cushioning up there felt less important than the other two, but curious to hear your opinion- you've done much more boarding and almost definitely hit much more park than me

    • @AngrySnowboarder
      @AngrySnowboarder  2 месяца назад +3

      The problem with Superfeet is they use a harder posting that changes how the boot will flex. They're realistically designed for a ski boot over a snowboard boot. If that's a non issue for you then that's awesome. I always used to have to cut into the posting to create some flex points.
      Toe cushioning you're dead on as the arch will compensate for that and most people do not land on their toes aggressively enough to warrant it. If they are, they need to reconsider how they ride. But heel dampening is far more important. If you think about how you're landing on a snowboard if you're doing it right you're either centered on your foot perfectly with even weight distribution or you're slightly heel heavy. As such you want to make sure that your binding, boot shell, and insole are going to absorb as much of that as possible before it gets to the foot in the boot. This also makes sense as chatter on a snowboard will go up into the binding, boot, and then arch/heel to the ankle, knee, hip, and finally the lower back. So you want to dissipate that as much as possible and save your body that stress. A great footbed will not only cradle the arch and allow proper movement inside it, but it'll also dampen that energy and reduce joint stress, muscle fatigue, and pain. Good posting on a footbed aids with this while bad posting will amplify these issues. It also comes down to what you want from the performance of the footbed as well.
