- From blocks of billet steel to hand-built functional art!
In this video from Nighthawk Custom, see the process of a pistol going from raw steel to an immaculate custom handgun. Follow the journey of an Agent 2 being built from beginning to end. We take U.S. billet steel and machine it into intentionally oversized parts Those parts are then individually hand fit, prepped, blended, and beveled by a skilled gunsmith, creating an incredibly fit performance driven pistol.
One Gun, One Gunsmith.
From there, the pistol will undergo multiple inspections, making sure that every detail is right. After each part is individually inspected, the pistol will be sent out to finish. Upon returning from finish, the pistol will be reassembled and inspected to ensure no blemishes exist in the finish. It is then that the front and rear sights are installed. Once the sights have been installed, the pistol will be taken out to function test and targeting. Function testing ensures that the pistol will run while targeting sees two or three rounds shot through a single hole. The pistol will then receive a thorough cleaning before heading to our Sales department. One of our account managers will then ship the gun to the dealer or FFL it is intended for.

@@paolosulit4441 Thank you
❤Please loose the loud music ,id prefer to hear nothing or machines please
So these guns, are only hand fitted not hand made. As for the custom work, It's done by damn Robots CNC. lol
Got to tour the machine shop and spoke to several of the smiths this past June and was thoroughly impressed, it’s easy to buy in to the Nighthawk culture. American made, Quality, and Christian values. It doesn’t get any better.
Thank you very much!
can a Muslim buy a nighthawk lol
Just watched it again... AMAZING!
Thank you!
Really enjoyed this video. Awesome to see you guys work. I have a GRP Recon 45 ACP and a Counselor. Love them both. It’s my EDC and is the finest EDC out there. Thousands of flawless and accurate rounds through it.
We're glad you're loving those two pistols!
What a gorgeous pistol 😮 love it!
Thank you very much!
Got my agent 2 a few months ago love. Fell in love with it the moment I saw it. Looking forward to getting a Korth eventually.
Glad you're loving that pistol! Thank you for choosing Nighthawk!
Wow. I knew it was a heck of a process but wow . Cant wait to finally ahoot a trs comp and order my own!
Super cool to see the process. Makes me proud to own a Agent 2!
Thank you for choosing Nighthawk!
Thanks for sharing the video. Lot of Pistol owners don’t know what makes a Great Firearm this video helps. Maybe in the future you guys can do a more detail one explaining the differences in point form so some of the plastic gun owners can learn the differences and maybe they can jump on board as well to be a Nighthawk owner when the times right for them. Just for the record, I love beautiful high tolerance firearms. As well, hate to admit it but there are some good plastic ones as well.
Keep up the great work boys !
Thank you for watching!
My next step up from trp and specialist….blued with rosewood…highest accuracy possible…will carry with pride…use and hopefully not ding up too bad but that don’t keep me from usin one for it’s intended purpose…👊🏻💪🏻..
They're made to be used! Dings just add character!
❤amazing video. I appreciate the inside look.
Thank you!
Thnks Again Mark , 👍

Love my Nighthawks!
We love hearing that!
Amazing how much work and craftsmanship goes into these firearms. Great video.
Thank you very much!
This was super cool to watch!
Thank you!
I ordered a combat special. I can’t wait to get my hands on it after deployment.
You're gonna love that pistol!
Very nice
Thanks!
Beautiful 🤩 one day I’ll buy one ☝️
When that day comes, give us a call!
Very cool video presentation. I have a Nighthawk GRP that was custom spec'd out. My favorite 1911. Outstanding quality! Nighthawk is a gun that makes one feel proud to own.
Thank you, Rick!!
NHC is hands down the best in quality and built-to-last craftsmanship. They hold their value and it gets its value from the fact that they create these guns that are considered masterpieces. Yes it may be a luxury gun, because NHC is a high value brand. That's why resale value of it is also high.
They're not too expensive, maybe some people are just too cheap.
Thank you very much!
Still the greatest pistols ever made can't wait to be able to buy a vip black.
Thank you very much!
Incredible.
Thank you!
Fantastic
Thank you so much 😀
Boy that in a double stack would be something 😊
We've heard that a time or two 😂
Looking forward to the sequel video where the new owner receives his gun, nods in approval, and then puts it into his gun safe for the rest of his life.🙂
In all seriousness, you guys make some amazing pistols... keep up the great work.
Thank you very much!
That's why I buy 2 , 1 to enjoy , 1 for ???
I'll play it by ear what happens to the safe 👸
Hope to see a double stack agent 2 become possible one day.
Coolest job in the world.
You ain't lyin!
Makes ya want to press the "Buy Now" button!
Absolutely AMAZING! Elated to be a "Nighthawk Dealer" at Sugarbush Armory Attica, NY ';-)
Heck yeah! Thank you for being a part of the Nighthawk family!
Yes ❤
A lot of work !
Yes it is!
I wouldn’t mind a ‘forever long’ documentary on the TRS comp / Sand Hawk.
From sketches, to prototypes, plus interviews with everyone involved. All the way to why the Sand Hawk seems more popular than the TRS comp.
I mean, people are scalping Sand Hawks on GunBroker for $7k+.
Don’t get me wrong though, I jumped in line for one at my LGS.😅
We'll keep that in mind!
WOW, these guys know what they are doing, and I love the One Gun One Gunsmith Idea. A custom 1911 is a functioning work of art and the guys at Nighthawk are artists!
Thank you very much, Bill!
Thank you very much; loved it. Our Shadowhawks are the very best guns we own. What a pleasure to shoot.
Thank you very much!
Nighthawk definitely builds a badass pistol. Never got to in depth with them because its only torturing myself 😅. Now the house is paid for and kids grown i might get to finally get one. You guys are fantastic builders, cant wait to try one out. Gotta say the Korth Nighthawk revolver work is my favorite 👍👍
Thank you, Jim!
The attention to detail even on the case with the lint roller.Great video very cool to see how the Agent 2 is built.
Thank you very much!
Thank you , LOVED the Video . Retired Tool & Die maker , quality is amazing. I have several 1911's . Now I have to have A Hight Hawk . I will get one this year . thank you again, Dewey in Pa .
Thank you very much! We'd love to build you one!
What a GREAT video guys!
I have already decided to buy a Firehawk IOS from you in the next few months as I retire.
What is the average turnaround time?
Thank you, James! Our current lead times are 18-20 months out.

One day soon❤
Give us a call when that day comes!
@@NighthawkCustomFirearms certainly👊🏾
I could watch this the whole day - some things never get dull. Can't await to get hands on my ordered President Double Stack sometime next year! Keep on rock'in guys!
Thank you and you're going to love that President!
Love this ❤ I remember when my firstborn daughter was born, I turned right out of the hospital and stopped at the LGS just to look around prior to coming home. I saw an Agent 2 in its own display case, and this was prior to there being any articles or videos anywhere about this model. I had a moment of weakness and my wife said she “It’s ok” 🥹 So I brought home both of my little bundles of joy 😍
That is a great story! Thank you for choosing Nighthawk!
a lot has changed since I bought my Nighthawk in 2010
We've grown just a little since then. Hope you're still loving your pistol!
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
This is why I own two Nighthawk customs
Thank you! We hope you love those pistols!
I'd like to know on any given day how many pistols does 1 gunsmith build for his or hers shift?
A gunsmith has 14-18 hours of work in each pistol, depending on the model. Just on their bench. This is with the best process, equipment, and facility
@@NighthawkCustomFirearms thank you...
Very informative and very motivating. I look forward to getting one of these pistols on my range so I can show my students the difference between adequate and exceptional and why it's worth the price.
Thank you, Tom!!
I absolutely love my Agent 2 and thinking about ordering another in commander size. Question for you, if you order it with ambi safeties will it come with ambi levers with the Agent perpendicular serrations or regular parallel line serrations?
Good question. It will actually come with the regular parallel serrations. We don't have an Agent 2 styled ambi safety at this time.
come on, you're a custom shop, make them:)@@NighthawkCustomFirearms
Ha. We wish it were that easy.
I definitely appreciate what you guys do as i grp owner myself.
I am curious about what happens in a case where too much material is filed off on a gun during a build? Does that piece get thrown out? I dont doubt your guys know what they are doing, but im sure here and there a mistake can happen.
Nobody is perfect, but we do strive for perfection. But it does happen from time to time that a little too much material is removed and they have to start over with a new part.
Was this video over a year in the making or is the video clips from multiple Agent 2 builds? Either way, it was fascinating to watch.
It was one Agent 2 build! It took a good bit of time to put this together!
Wow. Whomever bought that gun, you could have charged extra for the documentary lol@@NighthawkCustomFirearms
Wonder if one of those was mine...!
You never know!
I now have 6 NHC 2011/1911 and a Korth 357 mag NSX. TBH I was hesitant with the AGENT 2. With 1911s I prefer simplicity and traditional looks for the most part. NH has given me the joy of ownership and many hours of productive training time. So I picked one up at Only The Best here in South Florida (real good people) and man am I glad I got it. It is my 2nd favorite 1911 type just behind my NHC border special. I am proud to own these. The USMC taught me how to be dangerous and my job now as a sr tech exec for a tech giant gives me the finances to buy them. I am very lucky. My latest is a Sandhawk with SRO and Surefire light. It quickly became my fave all tome pistol and I carry a NHC TRS commander. Need to figure out what I need next 😊
Thank you so much for choosing Nighthawk! And thank you for your service!
Great video.. Only nighthawks show a video.. I guess you get what you paid for..
Thank you, Jack!
I know how a custom 1911 is built because I built one! It taught me a heck of allot!! Mainly why they cost so much!! Every singe part and piece had to be hand fit and polished!! I respect the 1911 way more!!
The 1911 is a great platform!
@@NighthawkCustomFirearms Yes it without a doubt is!
Beautiful and attractive pistol 👏🏻🙏🏻
But with one problem 😕
After one round of shooting, the wrist hurts and kicks the hand a lot 😣
But I still love my pistol very much 🙂
Glad you love that pistol!
@@NighthawkCustomFirearms 🙂🌹🌹
This is a real work of art and you can't help but love it 😍😍
I wish there were engraved, customized and special versions of this pistol .
I liked it next to "Desert Eagle" and "ak 47" golden and engraved with beautiful designs I had this pistol with them in the same way .

That’s Noel at the end. The test fire is my favorite part. 😍
Yessir!!
During the test fire he pushed the slide manually into battery. I noticed this because my nighthawk delegate needs this same persuasion along with it shooting low. Is this normal during the “break in period”? My gun is extremely nice just a couple issues need worked out
Give us a call and speak with a man named Bob. He can help you work out any issues.
Gun Smithing ( Hand Crafting plus magic ) and music who thought. The gun speaks for itself.
Stunning example of American craftsmanship..
Thank you!
Man I've been hoping a company would post something like this re: custom high end pistols. I wanted very desperately to get into real gunsmithing as a career but really couldn't find any apprenticeships and there aren't any schools that really teach the stuff shown in this video anymore, at least not that I know of. I know there are online schools like SDI and such but...no, just no. They can't teach a lot of this stuff over a computer. So, I had to improvise a bit and figure out a different path that would still teach me everything I'd really need to know even if it may not be directly working on guns day in and day out.
SO, I asked a friend of mine who is as far as I'm concerned a "real" gunsmith(not just a parts swapper) what he thought about becoming a machinist(he started as a machinist) and he said it would teach me a lot but not everything. So, I asked..."well what about tool and die?" and he said "Tool and die would teach you pretty much everything you'll need to know and then some" and so I went with it and found a really good apprenticeship. Now I can design in Solidworks, I know all about hand fitting components using a file, a stone, paper, or a variety of different grinders. I know how to run a bridgeport mill, a lathe, surface grinder, how to tig and mig weld, how to run CNC, and possibly most importantly of all but my mechanical understanding has grown a lot and I'm not even done with my apprenticeship yet.
Now, especially after seeing how you guys actually make a high end pistol(that's pretty much what I want to specialize in one day, I think anyway, I do like rifles too though, I have very little interest in shotguns though) I feel very confident in the path I chose and one day I hope to be the founder of a company that is known for a similar level of craftsmanship that you are. For now I'm just gonna keep on grinding(literally and figuratively) and ya'll should too! 😎
Definitely keep on grinding! Lots of hard work will get you where you want to go!
Are those Aluminum jaw hard vices?
Believe they have aluminum inserts.
Can you request a certain gunsmith to build it or do you get who you get? Im sure all these guys are great but i want the oldest guy in there putting mine together! The gunsmith who has been putting 1911s together while the young apprentices were wearing diapers if you know what i mean.
Absolutely! You can request a specific gunsmith to build your pistol!
❤
If you can build one in 24 mins, why is the wait like a year? :)
took 56 yrs to buy one but i bought a nighthawk cool
Thank you for choosing Nighthawk!
Awesome
Thank you!
Many times, less is often more.
Nighthawk Custom is NOT some "fly by night" operation. I love my T4 and my Nighthawk Colt. Great guns indeed.
Glad you're loving those pistols!!
5:15 Drool...
just curious why so many manual steps are needed. Isn't CNC machining precise enough?
CNC machining can be precise up to a point. We go a step further in hand fitting every part. We hand fit every part in that pistol to be a perfect fit, something that you can't really achieve with CNC machining alone. You can get close, but not perfect. We've always said this isn't the quickest way to build a pistol, or the cheapest way, but we do believe it's the best way to build a pistol. We plan on doing things this way for a long time to come.
Now you know why!
I wish the video wasn't in fast-forward!
Can the Agent 2 be made without the slide windows? They ruin the gun.
Unfortunately no. That's the way the pistol was designed with Agency Arms.
🤔 i don't see why they cost so much.....😂
Not sure what I expected but with that elevator music this was rather boring haha 😂 loved seeing the process but the editing and music was putting me to sleep Lol 😂🤷♂️ still love the products tho!! 👍
We really wanted to focus on the process. Lol I hope you didn't go to sleep, and thank you for watching! We appreciate the support very much, and glad you love what we do.
All of that work, and it only gets shipped with two mags? Tragic.
I’m sure you can probably request and/or order more
I love your guns, I own 2, but I'm sorry...that's one butt ugly gun. Even at $99 I wouldn't touch it.
Outstanding! All USA MADE GUNS should follow these quality standards.
Thank you!
Question. Switched full length guide rod to GI guide rod and the new guide rod is a little “loose” in the spring. The spring doesn’t “capture” tight on the rod (rod is thinner diameter than old one). The 1911 functions fine doing function check. Will this be an issue? Can’t find anything online
That is a good question. The man who would know the answer to that is Bob Reeves in our Custom Shop. You can email him at customshop@nighthawkcustom.com and he'll get you a response as soon as he is able.
