  • From blocks of billet steel to hand-built functional art!
    In this video from Nighthawk Custom, see the process of a pistol going from raw steel to an immaculate custom handgun. Follow the journey of an Agent 2 being built from beginning to end. We take U.S. billet steel and machine it into intentionally oversized parts Those parts are then individually hand fit, prepped, blended, and beveled by a skilled gunsmith, creating an incredibly fit performance driven pistol.
    One Gun, One Gunsmith.
    From there, the pistol will undergo multiple inspections, making sure that every detail is right. After each part is individually inspected, the pistol will be sent out to finish. Upon returning from finish, the pistol will be reassembled and inspected to ensure no blemishes exist in the finish. It is then that the front and rear sights are installed. Once the sights have been installed, the pistol will be taken out to function test and targeting. Function testing ensures that the pistol will run while targeting sees two or three rounds shot through a single hole. The pistol will then receive a thorough cleaning before heading to our Sales department. One of our account managers will then ship the gun to the dealer or FFL it is intended for.

    Thanks for sharing the video. Lot of Pistol owners don’t know what makes a Great Firearm this video helps. Maybe in the future you guys can do a more detail one explaining the differences in point form so some of the plastic gun owners can learn the differences and maybe they can jump on board as well to be a Nighthawk owner when the times right for them. Just for the record, I love beautiful high tolerance firearms. As well, hate to admit it but there are some good plastic ones as well.

    NHC is hands down the best in quality and built-to-last craftsmanship. They hold their value and it gets its value from the fact that they create these guns that are considered masterpieces. Yes it may be a luxury gun, because NHC is a high value brand. That's why resale value of it is also high.
    They're not too expensive, maybe some people are just too cheap.

    I now have 6 NHC 2011/1911 and a Korth 357 mag NSX. TBH I was hesitant with the AGENT 2. With 1911s I prefer simplicity and traditional looks for the most part. NH has given me the joy of ownership and many hours of productive training time. So I picked one up at Only The Best here in South Florida (real good people) and man am I glad I got it. It is my 2nd favorite 1911 type just behind my NHC border special. I am proud to own these. The USMC taught me how to be dangerous and my job now as a sr tech exec for a tech giant gives me the finances to buy them. I am very lucky. My latest is a Sandhawk with SRO and Surefire light. It quickly became my fave all tome pistol and I carry a NHC TRS commander. Need to figure out what I need next 😊

    Man I've been hoping a company would post something like this re: custom high end pistols. I wanted very desperately to get into real gunsmithing as a career but really couldn't find any apprenticeships and there aren't any schools that really teach the stuff shown in this video anymore, at least not that I know of. I know there are online schools like SDI and such but...no, just no. They can't teach a lot of this stuff over a computer. So, I had to improvise a bit and figure out a different path that would still teach me everything I'd really need to know even if it may not be directly working on guns day in and day out.
    SO, I asked a friend of mine who is as far as I'm concerned a "real" gunsmith(not just a parts swapper) what he thought about becoming a machinist(he started as a machinist) and he said it would teach me a lot but not everything. So, I asked..."well what about tool and die?" and he said "Tool and die would teach you pretty much everything you'll need to know and then some" and so I went with it and found a really good apprenticeship. Now I can design in Solidworks, I know all about hand fitting components using a file, a stone, paper, or a variety of different grinders. I know how to run a bridgeport mill, a lathe, surface grinder, how to tig and mig weld, how to run CNC, and possibly most importantly of all but my mechanical understanding has grown a lot and I'm not even done with my apprenticeship yet.
    Now, especially after seeing how you guys actually make a high end pistol(that's pretty much what I want to specialize in one day, I think anyway, I do like rifles too though, I have very little interest in shotguns though) I feel very confident in the path I chose and one day I hope to be the founder of a company that is known for a similar level of craftsmanship that you are. For now I'm just gonna keep on grinding(literally and figuratively) and ya'll should too! 😎

    • @NighthawkCustomFirearms
      @NighthawkCustomFirearms  4 месяца назад

      CNC machining can be precise up to a point. We go a step further in hand fitting every part. We hand fit every part in that pistol to be a perfect fit, something that you can't really achieve with CNC machining alone. You can get close, but not perfect. We've always said this isn't the quickest way to build a pistol, or the cheapest way, but we do believe it's the best way to build a pistol. We plan on doing things this way for a long time to come.
