Reine, everything you're describing will make the Filipina think the foreigner is serious about them. If the foreigner meets the parents and family then later breaks up with the starter gf, which was the plan all along, she will be extremely embarrassed. Wouldn't it be better to be honest and say you just arrived in the Phils and are only dating for now.
The point of the video is:
1. You need a FIRST girlfriend in the Philippines to get the ball rolling. Whether it's someone you meet online or in person.
2. Being serious right away is a trap. Also saying you're not serious right away is a trap.
3. Guys shouldn't be pressured into marrying the first girl they meet.
4. Guys should treat their girlfriend and her family really good.
5. They should move on when it's time to move on. That's how dating works.
6. If they really love each other, then they should stay together and it's one of the success stories.
7. This is how the real world works. Date, learn, move on or stay together.

you are describing a system that many Filipinas have experienced and it was negative for them. This also makes foreigners look bad also. Meeting the parents is a huge no no if you are not serious. this is really bad advice and if you plan ever on living in that area, it will not go well if you choose a different girl.

@@AaronOlafson yes because the men that do that, do not have anything just hand carry bag and normally move in with another family member constantly dodging responsibilities where they left the last time. Even their own families get sick of this type of behavior. Gets expensive moving, when you have things to move.

Pookie and rayray going on date with a starter gf in the Philippines.. just upon arriving at the airport her whole family and friends will be there to greet you and you also buying them dinner that day. If i was a pookie or rayray, i will stick with American women.. just a couple of drinks during happy hour and they usually pay for everything.

This is exactly what my fiancé did for years and made a lot of money doing it. She was a pro juggling multiple boyfriends for LDR while setting up temporary boyfriends for cash... This really screwed up her two children because they think others should pay for everything... Her two sisters did the same thing so I believe their mother taught them when they were teenagers. hahaha

Guys travel all the way to the Phillipines because they didn't like the dating culture where they came from. The Phillipines is typically more traditional than where they came from. So the "expert" advice is to turn the Phillipines into where you came from ? Be honest and upfront in everything that you do. Sure let the first couple know that you are just dating because you just got there and you are not looking to get locked down. But don't do things that are culturally considered serious relationship overtures in the philippines. Especially meeting their family

We're gonna end up being with, but I'll do have some requirements. That will help me a lot and it will help her too I want a woman as honest. A woman is real a woman. The whole idea of a 'starter girlfriend' or intentionally temporary girlfriend is horrible. If I want to be with a girl, that is what dating is all about. Dating a girl and being in a relationship with a girl are 2 different things. How would you like it if you knew a person was only interested in you for what they could have temporarily? Shift that ficus onto the other person. Can you live with yourself knowing you intentionally used someone as a stepping stool?

Pardon me but this approach is as selfish and predatory as "Starter husbands" are in America. Woman marries guy (usually a white collar employee) with the precise plan to use him as much as possible, divorce him, take half of his stuff and then dump him and go to her "real love".
Same for the starter girlfriend in this video. She is *NOT* guilty if you've been scammed 50 times before. She believes you and your honey words. She takes you to her family and in the Philippine it's a BIG step and really puts her honor on the line. And then... once you decide she has outlived her usefulness, you just dump her like that?
I see NO difference between this approach and "starter husband" and I am sure that this will taint foreigners acceptance in the Philippines for good.

I am a mature guy from the UK. I have travelled a lot never to the Philippines but I'll be visiting to explore to see if I could retire there.
STARTER GIRLFRIEND?
NOT FOR ME.
My list consists of
1. Ensuring my income stream is stable and enough to live well there.
2. Visit and explore to see if I'd be happy to settle somewhere.
Look at options for accommodation.
3. Ensure I am able to obtain diabetic medication there and the cost.
I'd be happy to date filipinas but would not enter into a serious relationship until I was settled there. Doing so would not be fair to me or the Filipina.
I'd take time getting to know her before making a commitment.
A good relationship needs
Trust,
Honesty,
Respect,
Fidelity and
Good Communication.
Lying, disrespect or cheating would be a deal breaker for me.
I don't do it and won't tolerate it.
If that means I remain single or date casually or split my time between the UK and the Philippines or elsewhere I'm OK with that.
Instead of looking for a starter girlfriend take time to find the RIGHT girlfriend and Don't rush into anything.😊
