We have water treatment plants that clean the water so that no one gets sick when they drink it. So most foreigners probably come from countries that it is safe to do.

    1. 0:49 It's not equally hot in every region in the PH.
    2. 2:08 Not all Beaches are nice, a lot are full of trash.
    3. 2:54 Yes in my country and a lot of others you can go out in the night without any worries or being hunted by roaming dogs with rabies.
    4. 3:52 Yes you can drink the tapwater here, in fact people just drink it instead of having to buy water all the time (it's also much cheaper and has better quality).
    5. 4:25 English with lots of dialect and older ppl getting nose bleed when trying. Also napkin there means panty liner, comfort room (CR) means bathroom and they call their mopeds motorcycle.
    6. 5:53 Yes but be aware of them wanting to "loan" money (they make up the best stories) and drunk or drugged guys in the street who occasionally beat their children to death or riding their moped.
    7. 6:59 Yes, but as a foreigner you usually get foreigner prices and don't buy fruits in normal stores, it's all massively overpriced for the PH. Also they seek to make money with basically everything, trying to sell you (especially as a forgeigner) stuff to a much higher price.
    8. 8:13 I saw a lot of huts if you wanna call them that, I think "huts" is even too nice to describe these constructions and they are all over the place. The "richer" filipinos live in somewhat bigger garages or advanced car ports. And yes jungle is all around, they just made roads through the jungle. The malls occur from time to time and it's a huge contrast to the outside.
    9. 9:24 I dunno about that, coconuts are everywhere and you can literally bath in their shells around every other corner because people just pile them up there.
    10. 10:40 Except for the city areas everything there is jungle. Yes they all have phones and use it all day 24/7 and sleep next to it, only waking up by a message popping up while the neighbor builds a new roof. They trust facebook media and upload all their life without any second thought. They rather pay expensive mobile contracts for years instead of buying a router once.
    11. 12:09 Most buildings there are selfmade and you can imagine how it looks like now. Except for Manila of course, where all the money goes.
    12. 13:11 Just don't go to Angeles City, it's basically one big whore district. Yes the province women make good wifes as long as you marry them almost immediately and found a family (because thats what they basically want after only a week of knowing you). Be aware that they are very easy to have (that's why all the foreigners are there anyways).

The main reason why English is so widely spoken in the Philippines is that it was a US territory from 1898 to 1946 (when the US granted them independence after WWII). The US got the Philippines as a result of winning the Spanish-American War of 1898 (the US also got Cuba, Puerto Rico and some others). The Philippines was the site of major battles between US and Japanese in WWII, with of course the Philippine people fighting along side the Americans. Prior to 1898 the Philippines was a Spanish colony for several hundred years, named after Spanish King Phillip, which is why it is still largely a Catholic nation.

#4, wrong about drinking tap water in western countries--in almost all cities, the water is treated and safe to drink. This is going to be my most difficult adjustment when visiting the Philippines--not drinking from the tap. I basically sleep-walk once each night to get a drink from the tap back home. I'll have to make sure I come up with a way to avoid that when I'm in the Philippines. Also, I think it's funny when I see the hotels in the Philippines putting just 2 bottles of bottled water in the room--only 2, seriously, I drink at least a half gallon a day and they only want to provide just 2 (presumming 1 bottle for each person per day).
#8 about the huts--would someone please take this woman out of the city and into the province so she can see how many in her country actually live. There are lots of bamboo huts out in the province without electricity or running water.

The Chinese are challenging Philippine ownership of some Islands of the South China Sea, on the north side of the Philippines. Things are getting a bit intense, and the Philippines has invited the US back in to the country to establish military bases. During WWII, the Philippines was one of the bloodiest areas of conflict in the fight against the Japanese. From 1898 to 1946, the Philippines was a US territory. The Philippines are also battling Islamic extremists who live in the southern-most Philippine islands, near Indonesia.
