From the research I have been doing, a good maid in the Philippines is almost a necessity for a single western guy, so I can spend more time enjoying retirement instead of standing in lines.
Not really a necessity but if you want to have a relationship you don't want to have that with a live in maid, I learned the hard way .. with a maid keep everything professional unless you plan on her being your children's momma .. I will be retiring in the Philippines I own property, will be setting up a resort, have a business running a boat touring to the islands already, have some farmland and farm animals ... Finding a good fit is difficult for the part time use I would only need. -- A day a week would be enough for me - not a live in. -- Shop a bit cook a bit and clean a bit - all in 1 day / week. Food prep for 2 or 3 days. I'll cook a bit eat out a bit and be a happy camper !

The Philippines is probably the best place you can ever go for being an expat
It's hard to find a good maid, and harder to keep them. We have went through 4 "maids" in 3 years. If you find a good one, they are well worth it and can actually save you money.
In the Philippines we Never had a Maid, My Wife wanted? to do all the Cleaning/Food stuf by her self (so it was done right). In Europe we Both Worked a Lot, so we had 5 Maids/Yayas (1 at the time), My wife did all the Talking,Testing and Hireing. She always hired Some very Christian, or Obese and One Guy so the Risk for Romantic encounters was reduced to almost Zero. It worked out quite Good, we had no problems with things dissapearing (we had some problems with one that was quite desperate to find a boyfriend and was close to leave us every time she thought she had found the love of her life). Only the last one we had, did run Away to a better paying Job after about 3 months time, we didnt hire a new one (we didnt needed it so much more and was too much hassel) 😯
Very informative to the max! Good to have come from the point of view of a foreigner. Everything said here is true. But sadly, I am Pilipino. And if I had done the talking like these, putting down my own countrymen is what most of them believe. Ready to BASH me anytime.
we have a 'maid', though rather, the new operative term is 'domestic helper'. We currently have a husband wife pair who come in 3 days a week who do laundry, cleaning, occasional driving, and bill paying for us. Unfortunately, our previous maid who we got through college then stole over 100,000 pesos from us.
@@GeraldBeagan-ee6se my error in trusting. My bank pw and id were automatically showing when she was on my computer. Transferred on a weekly basis around 10,000 each week. Finally noticed; checked with bank atm CC and it was pretty much slamdunk. she continues to deny it all. guilty me of too much trust. never again--we'd known her 8 years by then. kinda embarrassing, actually, but I share this because you should always be careful with your household staff.
If you do hire a full-time maid through an agency, you will be required to house and feed her as well as provide medical care and pay her, including payroll taxes and the agency fee. You will need a maids quarters or have a 2 bedroom 2 cr apartment which will also cost you more . For a single man, a part-time maid would be the best way to avoid the extra costs of a live-in maid . Also, have a safe or place for your valuable items as if you misplace your items, you won't have an awkward situation.
Omg..are you talking about maid or slave? Just for your knowledge, generally, a maid is treated like a distant relative, especially in the province. We have a maid growing up and we call her auntie. We learned when we turned 16 that she was not a relative at all. Our parents want us to respect her like our aunt. We even try to avoid using the word "maid" to introduce them to friends/relatives visiting. We introduce them as " kasambahay" which means house companion because "maid" is almost like calling them slaves. In a lot of instances too the maid is a real relative. Your rigid rules exist in the minority (for example: multi-millionaires or maybe some politicians). Just so you know too, even if we have maid, that does not mean we are just going to just sit and wait to be served. We still do chores. Not even the multi-millionaires expect their maid to do everything. They will have 3 or 4 maids with specific jobs, like one in charge of cooking, one for cleaning and laundry, etc.
with all that big talking about your wants you're going to pay her that much? makes sense in the province but not for city lifestyle, especially for the outside errands you have her doing just to be back home asap to cook your meal and wash your underwear. 8k should be a starting point.
Was soll man denn da noch machen, wenn alles erledigt wird? Klingt nach einem faden Leben... =) Wenn ich überlege wie schön ich hier durchs Grundstück rotieren kann.
I’d want one just for security reasons. I don’t think I’d feel safe living alone in the Philippines as a foreigner especially in the provinces. I don’t expect her to be a bodyguard obviously but I’m sure her presence may dissuade potential thieves/robbers.

very true comment there, Mr. Bill and I am called Wild Bill maybe from my younger days hahahaha I am over 72 now been living in the Philippines over 33 years and I actually been looking for a new maid to help the other maid we currently have now.
Although sometimes you get a family drama situation, I have been in the middle of something like that since the mid 80's we have been trying to stay out on the boundries of the situation but keep getting dragged in ... remember to stay out of family drama situations otherwise it may cost you a lot of money
My wife most of the chores you list :-) She is my language buffer against deliveries.
salamat.

Excellent Goertz! 🇨🇦 🍺
Excelent I have needed that advise.
Glad it was helpful!
I think mine and your experience would be different in almost every aspect of life.
Just found you and sub'd... I'm sure I can learn a lot from your vids ...take care and will be watching for the next
Awesome, thank you!
Great video Thank u from Dave in lreland
Glad you enjoyed it
@ 13:55, the most important part of the video, i'm tracking, enough said sir.
I thought there would be no funny one liners? This video was full of them. LOL Well done
You can ask her to get a chest x-ray. TB is very common in the Philippines. Ask her to get the doctor to write a simple letter on the doctor's letter head stating whether she has it or not.
lol who says its very common, my entire 32 years living here in philippines, i only knew 2 people who had TB
@@daturon1885 Philippines has the highest TB incidence rate in Asia, with 554 cases for every 100,000 Filipinos, according to the World Health Organization (WHO) global TB report in 2020.
.05% and every worker here requires medical certificate.
saying common from us is pointing that majority of us here have TB. is more than 50% is not equal to more or less 0.5%?
@@daturon1885 stats don't lie 🤥🤡. Common means prevalent (look at a dictionary), NOT 'majority' as you defined it.
I been in and out of the Philippines since the early 80's, I was stationed there in the late 80's and have been married to a Filipina for well over 30 years, I know the ins and outs of the Philippines as well as anything that has to do with maids grounds keepers and house boys ... The Philippines is probably the best place you can ever go for being an expat
I stayed over in the Philippines when I was in Navy
Well said. I’m a new subs.
Excellent video
Glad you liked it
We all know why we really clicked this video 😂 hahaaaaaa
Great Advice!
Glad you think so!
The real concern should be implicit trust 😮
You are a wise man, thank you
It's hard to find a good maid, and harder to keep them. We have went through 4 "maids" in 3 years. If you find a good one, they are well worth it and can actually save you money.
wow thats very true for sure now days, but many years ago it was much easier to find maids
Ihr aussprache is wirklich sehr gut. Great no nonsense content too. Veile grusse von USA.
ThaNk you very much
His pronunciation is very bad.
@@timothytomblin you don't hang with many Germans I can tell.
Good solid advice 👍
Glad it was helpful!
Truy sta safe ❤❤❤ u vidos
Very informative to the max! Good to have come from the point of view of a foreigner. Everything said here is true.
But sadly, I am Pilipino. And if I had done the talking like these, putting down my own countrymen is what most of them believe. Ready to BASH me anytime.
Well said!
6-9k would be low for Manila for a full time maid.
we have a 'maid', though rather, the new operative term is 'domestic helper'. We currently have a husband wife pair who come in 3 days a week who do laundry, cleaning, occasional driving, and bill paying for us. Unfortunately, our previous maid who we got through college then stole over 100,000 pesos from us.
Woah, …did she lighten the wallet or how did she do that?
thats just what you know of, probably more
@@GeraldBeagan-ee6se my error in trusting.
@@PartlyCloudy1965 chances are if you've got household help, you're as much at risk yourself.
Never leave money or valuable stuff anywhere except locked storage or cabinet.
Great videos sir.
Glad you like them!
I've had three maids during nearly 9 years in the Philippines. Word to the wise, clean up after yourself! All were horrible, did little except snoop.
Good video
Thanks for the visit
I remember my wife's maid who worked
Foreigners should show respect to all workers/laborers in the Philippines, or else...
Awesome
Danke Goetz, war sehr Hilfreich 😄
wow, and here I was thinking of giving one 15k as efficiency pay....
‘We westerners have our own take on time and punctuality” said in what sounds like a German Accent….. HaHa
All made thoughtful
with all that big talking about your wants you're going to pay her that much? makes sense in the province but not for city lifestyle, especially for the outside errands you have her doing just to be back home asap to cook your meal and wash your underwear. 8k should be a starting point.
And don’t forget to treat them with respect, always as you’d expect to be treated if your roles were reversed.
Would a male maid be possible? Some woman just dont like other women.
Was soll man denn da noch machen, wenn alles erledigt wird? Klingt nach einem faden Leben... =) Wenn ich überlege wie schön ich hier durchs Grundstück rotieren kann.
My gf is the maid.
and my mistress too
u did read it nice of the screen we all can find in google like you did.. this content is not making sense ... at all..
Just pay more for extras if they agree
There needs to be a corollary advice video for the maid.
Tip #1 don't work for a German.
Tip #2 see tip #1.
But... I don't have a maid...
@@Discoverandlivephilippines
Or a sense of humour it would appear. Not to play to that particular stereotype🙄
It was just a wee joke mate. Sorry.
I have 7 maids....one for each day. don't judge.
Hmm accent very Germanic sure of it.
I’d want one just for security reasons. I don’t think I’d feel safe living alone in the Philippines as a foreigner especially in the provinces.
I don’t expect her to be a bodyguard obviously but I’m sure her presence may dissuade potential thieves/robbers.
Dude you look like Gio. At first glance, you look just like him on the thumb nail.
Haha he does.
Myk looks like Reekay
