Nice to see a review with an engineer from Ford talking about the Edge ST. Ford has always meant quality to me and it’s great to see them giving a performance edge to their vehicles other than the Mustang.
Doesn't it bother you that after 100 years they act like they barely know how to tune an engine or transmission? This stuff should be a piece of cake and they act like it was a serious chore.
There is going to be quite a BIG market segment for this vehicle. As a Commercial Driver, I see a lot of Sports Utility Vehicles on the road! I don't relish the fact FORD made a FAST SUV, (Sigh!! Not another fast car all wheel drive vechile giving the average motorist a superman complex to zip around and challenge commercial vehicles and to cut them off!)
I DO REALLY LIKE the fact that they made an SUV like this. I drive a 2016 Subaru Outback and one of the main things I have against it is this: because of the CVT transmission THE VEHICLE HAS NO POWER!! (Slow acceleration)
Subaru doesn't ship a sporty version of the Outback to the US.
FORD gives us a family utility hauler at a decent price point with luxury, safety features, electronic connectivity, performance, and decent gas mileage!!!!
This is exactly what I need and I can't say that I'm not tempted to buy one.
well done to the camera crew and back ground crew they don't get enough credit thanks for that
I like just about everything on this car except some elements of the interior. After seeing the 20 Escape, it's clear the dash layout is ancient on the Edge. Hopefully , it gets an update for the 20 model. Sliding rear seats would also be a welcome addition.
is the engine dual injection this year??
Ford managed to make this SUV look good with the ground effects and yet still retain that good ground clearance whereas Hyundai's sport kit looks ridiculous on the Tucson and lowers the SUV to the point where you have to watch for curbs. The Edge is a good looking SUV.
Has the new Edge and particularly the ST gone into production yet? If so how soon can I see one at a dealer?
I am sensing a lack of confidence by the ambiguity in presenting this ST especially about transmission tuning and handling. I strongly feel that this will be a rebadged Edge Sport.
How do you think this went over when the sales guys told this to the engineering team:
"Guys, I've got a plan about how to make the next ST car better. We will RAISE the center of gravity by 10 inches! "
All the engineers leave the room...
You have to love how vague engineers are about anything that isn't facts and figures.
No mention of Escape? You guys jumped from Explorer to Expedition then down to Ecosport, but not Escape? An ST Escape would be easy, 2.3 from MKC and suspension and braking upgrades.
Throw $20 worth of plastic ST badges on an Edge Sport, increase the price by $5k, BOOM! Edge ST!
Drink every time he says twisty!
Is Cristina Aquino a Filipino?
The Edge ST Line certainly doesn’t back the theme of the ST. Similar looks, very dissimilar performance in ALL areas, e.g. engine performance, braking, handling. The ST Line leaves most Edge ST owners feeling cheated by Ford. I may never buy another Ford again.
Does that knucklehead know any other word for a corner, a curve, a bend or a sweeper than "twisties "?
John, this is just promotion for Ford.
I'm not impressed at all with the small seats on the 2019 model and lack of engineering in this vehicle way overpriced for this vehicle . Lights fog up after washing and the door gasketing on the bottom of the doors trap all the road grit and stones. I have the 2018 edge sport now drove it across the country to northern Washington and it did well in the mountains. My average speed was 80 mph at time. Like the control throughout mountain roads . Shifting
why ford ,why? focus and fiesta are very popular in europ, why cancel them
They cancelled them in North America
sounds logical
Focus and Fiesta's total Euro sales are dropping on the same curve :-(
Ford and VW join to give us more crap...
Does it have electromechanical shocks? If not, why not? When they finally introduce the new Escape, they better introduce an ST version IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!
Aquino "we need those other people to tell that story" . Huh? You're the marketing director. You can't steal Tesla's sales model, cuz you ain't got the cars to back it up. Your product needs improving.
Going electric would destroy all this "great" performance tuning. Gas car are getting lame.
Unless they came up with a hybrid power train a 48 V system like they put in the Audi's, but that would be to efficient!!! LOL👍
Why is for always last to the party and doing the bottom of the class power wise
Come on ford I am an ford fan boy and want yous to start showing your mussels
How is 335 HP the bottom of the power for a 43K ST? Which with a $1000.00 rebate and dealer discounts you will be 40k.
After 46 mins, They finally said the car needs more power. It's a beautiful vehicle but not pure performance. More like for mothers who still like to stunt in the parking lot
Lol
This is just low hanging fruit for Ford. Its a sport thats been slightly tweeked and a ST badge slap on. Im thinking 2020 or 2021 will see the real improvements in engine, exterior and interior.
Trim line, so sad.
ford better just quit it. Gas is out EV's are in period
