Buying a turbo tomorrow. It’s a beast! I’m trading in a Tesla for it.
Picked up my 2010 Cayenne Turbo yesterday (decision made mostly on watching this review - having never even driven one) and i completely agree with everything you said regarding this car.
The Cayenne Turbo is so versatile and everything you could ever want in a car.
An incredible feat of engineering - i absolutely love it.
2010 aint no 2015-17.
That will be my next car, I'm happy to let someone else take the massive depreciation.
I'm thinking of one of these , head studs and cooling pipes shown up as needed on these?
Best SUV ever.
Superb review. This really shows capabiliity of the Cayenne on a hill side at those speeds. Wow!
So this Cayenne performs better than my C63? Damn you Porsche but i must say the Cayenne has always been a good car, now they just made it great. Just for the sheer power it has, one should drive this, amazing.
Porsche was/is/will always be a miracle in how they build their cars.
I have both, and no it definitely does not perform better than the c63, i have test4ed this a few times to say the least :)
I have even bumped my turbo to 650hp, and it still does not catch up with the c63. Its a completely different machine and incredibly fun to drive. but not nearly as connected nimble as the c63. Then again.. it was not designed to do it. I have to say from all the SUV's we have owned - yes ml63 and x5m included - none felt as much as a car than the Porsche does. Its a suv i loved to hate but truly sets the benchmark for the SUV when it comes to driver connection and control.
+Snappy Snap well I can say your Cayenne turbo isnt even close to being bumped up to 650hp. Dont bullshit people.
+nicetry64 you right actually it might be a little more or a little less, my base is a evomsit ECT620, that "you guess it" makes 620. I then added the IPD plenum and AP diverter valves and Tubi exhaust. I have some time scheduled @ dyno next week for my new car. i will see if i can get the cayenne in as well.
How does it compare to the Bowler EXR-S?
Although I'd never buy one, you have to respect and appreciate to levels of engineering excellence that goes into a Cayenne Turbo. A full fat SUV just shouldn't be able to do what these can do on the tarmac!
I love this vehicle. What a dream. Well done by the Porche team. Truly phenomenal.
The first time you hear me say: That´s a pretty damn nice Cayenne!
It's a beast. I will pick cayenne turbo over range rover svr any day.
Johnny Zhuang was in the turbo today was a tank overtook 9 cars on a 60mph road this is a tank
Johnny Zhuang well then good look......u've just decided to spoil ur money....
Johnny Zhuang - I would get BOTH the Cayenne Turbo and the RRS SVR.....
Porsche > everyone else
Nope.
Totally Winning Pro Gamer It's called an opinion. Look that word up.
disgraceland uk Right so my opinion is 'nope' so you also have to respect that.
yep
great review!!!
Was In one today raceing the new land rover discovery which has 3.0 v6 turbo the porscher it was a tank so quick over took 9 cars in 60mph st8 road
I would love to see a review like this one but with the Mercedes GL 63 amg :)
Honestly a used Cayenne Turbo isn't that bad in the U.S. ~65K can get you a 2011 with sub 30,000 miles, and you're going to rip the face off a lot of sports cars. Not to mention the aftermarket support for the car, with basic power packages producing 600+ BHP, and upgraded turbos now out there that make 700+ BHP. It's madness.
It's a great car, but come on, that off road track was a joke (pool aside). My grandma's Corolla could drive there with ease.
While I agree, I honestly didn't think it would make it through that puddle. And the owners of course will never do anything like that :P
Let's be honest here, at 94,000 pounds and that's before options may I add, noone is going to take this car to some hardcore off-road proving grounds. This car is all about on-road handling and outright speed.
They did admit that the Porsche gts and etc. do lose some off-road capability like the original cayenne.....however, this car never was for off-road..
Bob Belcher in my opinion this car was basically the porsche for the winter
I've always liked the Cayenne and I feel like it looks better than ever now. Absolutely gorgeous vehicle. And of course, being a Porsche, it handles amazingly as well. It's like the best of both worlds. You have the SUV usage and practicality, and because of that badge on the front, it's basically like driving a 4-door sports car.
Yes it's time to schedule a test drive !!
Just got my brand new shape Cayenne Diesel tonight! The turbo is awesome but very very pricy! I got the new 911 Turbo wheels and it looks similar at least!
Linda Callison Cheers Linda! :)
How is the longevity of these- any engine, trans, or suspension issues that are known? I'm looking at a 2018 Turbo S now but hesitant given the downside of potential issues that may arise.
Did you ever buy that turbo S?
@edjohn4590 decided against it. Happy I did too.
@@damians8498 why? What's your better option?
@@giuistefanjr72 I got a m850 instead, totally a pivot in style of car
Trillions like and best comment for you because you are best on Earth and follower respect you,we need videos in Real 120fps 4K,8K and Sound in FullHD 3D
Gearbox is Aisin Seiki not ZF 8-Speed...
Yup, the Cayenne is the shizzle. And it always has been - it must be said. And I know I'm going to get a lot of thumbs down for saying that the original Cayenne is gorgeous, in her simplicity and her surfaces. An under-appreciated classic. The first Cayenne Turbo or S cars are now bargain basement prices for an insane amount of car.
Just have the same budget for it, as you would a 928.
pah...it's a great drivers car "for an SUV". But it ain't no drivers car.
ZF transmission? I thought this had a 8 speed Aisin transmission or the new redesign is different.
Great review!! :)
I remember when the same guy tested the Range rover and the Cayenne turbo and he trash talked the Cayenne like shit. Now it's the opposite lol xD
Autocar is the price mentioned here inclusive of taxes?
what about gmc envoy SLT
Great Video.
Just a shame they can't improve the looks like they have improved the engineering.
and it's a shame that YOU ARE A BULLSHIT!
Richard Joash Tan Yh that makes sense... Thanks for the ad hominem attack though.
berzu21 Another ad hominem attack, thank you.
rockinchimp I think it probably isn't so simple as just changing the looks, although I will admit I was thinking it sure could be a lot prettier, especially in the rear. Hopefully the Turbo S looks more sporty. Not a very pretty car but you could buy one in black to hide the lines a bit!
rockinchimp
The negative side of freedom of speech. Even the ignorant with zero class and manners are allowed to have an opinion and express it, with the obvious result as in this case. And very often it seems like 100% of them are flocked around YT.
I would rather buy the littel brother Macan Turbo, unless you need the space.
Currently its on 8 months waiting list.
Agree. Just had the pleasure of driving the Macan Turbo S and the drive was exhilarating. I'm not fan of the exterior updates on the new Porsche Cayenne models. The rear looks a bit Hyundai Santa Fe-ish somehow.
Neos281 There is no Macan Turbo S!
mgfmgtf Sorry, the Turbo without the S
mgfmgtf is right. I always confuse models with with the "Macan S" because they haven't brought out a Macan base model yet. Thanks for the correction.
Equipped with sport chrono package, is this the fastest 0-60 mph SUV? How does it compare to BMW X5M and X6M.
kudos to porsche. as steve said, they do everything well
The Range Rover can not match the reliability of the Porsche and it's enough for many people to seal the deal especially in those countries where the fuel quality isn't good enough and the sensitive fuel system in the range rover will fail in for sure...
I really wait for the arrival of the new Cayenne GTS with its atmospheric V8 !
This vs X5M vs Range Rover Sport SVR?
Just got my 958 Base model and I have to submit it's the best one compare to all S and Turbo models because you can bare hand to release water that are being trapped and leaks into cabin once a while if you're in a rainy location
BTW, Don't leave your holes open or mice will be there
you keep saying its a ZF box but it isn't its an Aisin unit
I'm just amazed how it has locking diffs and it's as brilliant to drive as it is. I'm looking at you BMW.
In White it looks better than it ever did, which perhaps is not saying much, but both the front and the rear is much more sorted now IMO.
Steve Sutcliffe is certainly one of the best reviewers IMO on the Tube. However, at times I find the Autocar voiceovers about as powerful as lullabies. Many videos would benefit from some more passion and power. Great videos overall though.
Sorry, but I had to.
power 550 hp torsi 700 nm v8 twin turbo changer 3.899 CC
Its not a zf transmission its developed by aisin Japanese company
I dont know where he gets the new one weighs less than the 2013 model. This weighs 4817lbs. My 2013 weights 4784lbs.
This is the 2015 model, no?
Top Suv, but not in white!
Got a ride on one of these at goodwood, it's an absolute weapon
Looks heinous in Essex Pearl (white). When will the white car craze end, struth
The gearbox is NOT the ZF but the AISIN unit!!!
My dream car is the Macan, hope one day I can drive that small little cute beast...
I get that Porsche isnt as exclusive as Ferrari or whatever, but it's sad to see the steering wheel of the 918 Spyder on every day porsches like the Maccan and Cayenne.
Why? The Germans know that if something is done right, it's worth using.
Ferrari does the same. The same wheel is in every car whether it be the F70 or the California T.
agree. You can't even opt for the wheel on the 911.
Neos281 Because the 991 hasn't had a refresh yet. Once it has one, it will most likely have the 918 style wheel.
Doppelkupplung you're most likely right. Not that it matters as I'm primarily a lover of the 997.2 models. Even so, it will be neat to see the updates on the 991.2. Thanks for chiming in.
Would've like to see the white car with those low profile tyres on the off road circuit. Might not have the glowing review that it scored here
4:00 I think he meant Tiger tank, not Sherman tank...
Hmm Range Rover may have something to say back when the RR Sport SVR is out
lmaoo "its just rude.."
Good Microphone ;)
why must every brit compare absolutely everything to the range rover? "is it as good as a range rover? well..."
it's like you can't help yourselves. this car doesn't compete with a range rover at all on any level except price and the fact they're both suvs. the range is significantly heavier, more geared for comfort and off road use, and... well... isn't trying to be a sports car! not once did you ever mention this car's true competitors (the bmw x5 m, x6m, ml63 amg, etc.) at all.
We have one and the only problem is it isn't as practical a SUV should be. True, it does look much better than any other SUV on the market but storage is shocking, there are no where to put anything except the arm rest. The rear door is curved and refused to close as soon as it makes contact with a taller suitcase. Its really comfortable on road trips but day to day, its just a huge thirsty car. In saying that, we might still have bought it again if we were to go back in time. It's far from perfect though.
This has turned into a serious competitor vs the X5M
+chillinxxpaki69 not really. The Porsche is a world apart in quality vs bmw. Cant even compare.
I'm not talking interior, badge or any of that stuff. I'm talking bang for buck in terms of performance. The old generation cayennes could not compete for shit vs the x5m despite a significantly higher price tag. It's more up to par if not exceeds performance now but it's still hella expensive compared to x5m
Look, all that bmw did was COPY porsche. Porsche started the performance suv. Bang for the buck? Buy a camaro z28 or some shit if you want bang for your buck. Only poor people complain about the price because they are jealous and cant afford shit. The porsche costs more for a reason. The bmw is a piece of shit compared to it. Thats the problem with you kids on here. You watch a video and you think you know everything. You can only learn if you actually own or owned these cars.
@@Executiveinvestments- bmw x5m and x6m in y opinion is better quality and I hVe a 2011 porsche cayenne turbo
Frustrating that the model year is not in the title or mentioned within the first minute. Basic journalism dammit.
Porsche is the best!
ZF 8 Speed is the Best Automatic Transmission ever. Thanks Schweinfurt
Great Car btw.
mi piacciono questi video sono molto belli . ai prossimi ciao angelo bergamo.
I will always love porsche and aspire to own one I don't care if I look like a poser or whatever cos who gives a shit I want a porsche because they're amazing and I like them not to look cool so I don't care what other people think anyway. Porsches are awesome :)
ZF is better than pdk ?
ZF is the brand, PDK is the type
Cayenne best
id rather the gts
BUT I RATHER HAVE THE TURBO S!!!!!!
The gearbox in the Cayenne is not made by ZF. It is made by Aisin.
you can see in the picture

dimekoza www.ferdinandmagazine.com/porsche-cayenne-transmission-valve-body-problems
Pronounce the E at the end!
yes the cayeen is the real deal!
Ok. I`m gonna change my order from cayenne S to turbo for two reasons. One is S take more time to get and two is the power..
Want
Such a shame that Autocar doesn't know that the gearbox used in this Cayenne is AISIN not ZF. Other than that, good review and proper driving.
Porsche is awesome I have a 2006 cayenne turbo s that simply pound the payment and goes like stink offroad.....
I am watching because my neighbour today bought a Porsche
old model looked better
The thing is Range Rover owners and drivers want the majestic feel not the sports car feel. They would not even look at porsche.
greasemonger29
RR will always be below Porsche
All of your video footage is washed out and grey, give it more exposure and contrast (or get a New editor)
I'm not sure if I like this one more than the range rover evouqe...
Sherman tank? I think he meant Tiger tank...
Erik Hertzer panther
i love porsche
Sorry, but putting on smaller wheels and bigger profile tyres before hitting the rough stuff and then calling it composed off road is Damn right bollocks.
Sure, suspension may have improved, but the thicker sidewalls will also have a lot to do with it.
The turbo doesn't come with those wheels, so why are you guys running off road with a different set?
I smell a sponsored review me thinks.
Are you fucking kidding me mate?
These are the same wheels, the car is just a bit higher thanks to the air ride. So the wheels look smaller.
Dude, the turbo comes with exactly those wheels as standard... check it out
cc.porsche.com/icc_euro/ccCall.do?rt=1414239972&screen=1024x768&userID=DE&lang=de&PARAM=parameter_internet_de&ORDERTYPE=92AAF1&hookURL=http%3a%2f%2fwww.porsche.com%2fgermany%2fmodelstart%2fall%2f%3fmodelrange%3dcayenne
dimekoza Cyrill Groddeck Take a look and see for yourself. 2:07 vs 6:01. Two different wheel designs, two different wheel sizes. In fact, two different Cayenne Turbo's all together.
Those are optional, standard are the 19'' wheels, and you can easily go offroad with those
Yeah, of course, which is exactly why they didn't go off road with the larger wheels... Because it's just fine to do so, right? Either way your opinion is your own and fact is fact.Next time use a url shortener.
Not a patch on a Range Rover, Jaguar Land Rover cars are always classier and more sophisticated than their chav German counterparts!
nice porsche
The Cayenne is better for the road but the Range Rover is best for the the off-road in my opinion, and the looks on the RR are superior then the Porsche.
I agree. But, I have thought long and hard about this, first off I would say off-road capability has to be a distant secondary consideration for most. As for the look of the car, well the RR does look pretty nice, I don't deny that. However, when the driving capability is so much more superior in the Porsche, it is just very hard to go for the RR unless you have multiple cars in your garage that can satisfy your driving enjoyment. But, if we are talking car vs car, pound for pound, the Cayenne wins out unless looks is at the top of your consideration.
185 Kg are "just a smidge" for you..?
Put it in perspective to 2 tons.
can't stand the tail light design, it looks nothing like a Porsche design, I LOVE the Macan tail lights because it has that Porsche look to it, reminds me of the 911 tail lights, but this Cayenne, in fact all cayenne tai lights look nothing like a porsche design car, i wish they'd make it more consistent within the line up
Headlights look like pagani
Off road????? It is a dusty road. Comparing it to a rangerover is ludicrous.
true, when we picked our Cayenne up the sales person showed us the buttons and when he got to the off road ones he goes "well you're never gonna use these" LOL
The Porsche can do harderr offroad ofc but what sane person would ever take a Range Rover or a Cayenne on harder roads than the one he was on? Maby a snow and ice covered dirtroad.
Who cares about off-road, if you do you should just get a Defender or Jeep Wrangler so you can bang it around.
who else would rather have the diesel version? 691 ft lb!
Adam Othman yeah like the diesel is fast. Its a load of shit.
+THE BOSS Diesel engines should be banned for the crock of shit they are
FireVortex720
they wont because better gas mileage. All manufacturers are so desperate for a few more MPG. People that buy SUV's really dont give a shit about MPG or they would buy a prius.
You can get a lot more power/torque out of the diesel too...but they are simple inside compared to my old 04 turbo. I'd love o get a 2013
4.2 for a school bus.. not bad.
Wait for the Range Rover SVR.
AND YOU ARE A BULLSHIT!
The SVR will be slower than the Cayenne Turbo nevermind the Turbo S.
OK, here are the figures :
Range Rover Sport SVR - 550 PS, 0-100 kph 4.7 sec, Max Speed 260 kph (www.landrover.com/vehicles/range-rover-sport/svr/index.html)
Porsche Cayenne Turbo - 520 HP, 0-100 kph 4.5 sec, Max Speed 279 kph (www.porsche.com/international/models/cayenne/cayenne-turbo/)
Trust me, just the Cayenne Turbo alone will spank the SVR. A Cayenne Turbo S (which is not out yet) will absolutely rape it !! LOL.
Alex Fu Need more than specs. Need a head-to-head on a technical track.
Alex Fu RR is slower but that won't stop many out there buying it over the cayenne partly because it look like a 4 wheel drive version of john prescot
I'm pretty sure a Corolla could handle that "off road" course. Why even bother showing us something that doesn't highlight any feature of the vehicle?
That was hardly "off road". More rather a paved dirt road that has been prepped for asphalt.
just picked up a 2015 at half the price.
A tall 911.
Its not Porsch , its Porsche.. Really..!
Looks quite good now compared to the first version!
You pay for all that weight and size defying performance long term in tyres and brakes. Ask any Cayenne turbo owner who really drives their car how long their brakes last and how much replacements cost - though admittedly it's probably not much of a concern spending thousands of dollars on tyres, rotors and pads every 18 months if you can afford the car in the first place.
Exactly. Not to mention for the Range Rover Sport you can opt for 22" tyres even. The truth is for the Cayenne to look best you have to go for the 21s and if there were 22s as an option it would look even better.
Alex Fu 22" tires lol. what size is the wheel like 13"?
you can put a porsche badge on a cardboard box and it would look sexy
