Lindsay please consider a career in politics. We need leaders like you guys. Our warrior class at its finest, even when retired... and without a pixilated face. Great show Phil. Thank you.
Another great interview Big Phil! You’ve created a really good platform for these epic stories with admirable men - You’ve tapped in perfectly in regard to listening, letting the guest speak but still including that Phil charm and humour! Pls keep em coming & wish you the best with this path! I’m Hampshire too, perhaps smaller hammers 😜
Thank you Phil and Lindsay , great video (interview)!! I am not a service man or ex-service man, however I have found that kind of talks positively influential and very motivating!! Great video, thanks again! thumbs up.
When I was a young gunner in 1981 I ended up sharing a tent with seven lads from the RHF doing adventure training in the Rockies. A lovely and very funny bunch. That was a fascinating interview, thanks.
Quality interview Phil . This interview made me listen more because Lindsey is coming across as a no nonsense Philosophical self aware talented guy, with that right dose of dry Scots humour 😀.
“Brucie” as he was called on my Assault Pioneers course at Hameln in 1998 seemed a really nice guy, he was quite a serious guy, and had to look after the other 3 RHF rouges that were with him😂😂. I met some of those RHF guys in Sennelager Naafi in about 1999, we were training to go to Macedonia because Kosovo was kicking off and the lads said he was away doing SAS stuff. Good on him. Well done “Brucie” from the posh jock R Signals LCpl.🤭😂
loving your shows big man & I like your interviewing style. The way you illicit the guests back story to bring us up to speed with their current point in life. I did a wee bit of time driving Taxis and used to love chatting to the passengers and getting their back story. I find folk interesting, particularly their backgrounds. I shall be following more of your stuff because you're daft as a brush and dont take yourself too seriously, although there's a serious side to you. Don't poke the bear if you catch my drift. As for Lyndsay, he seems to have hit a crossroads and it will be interesting to see where he's heading. I'm sure he can help 57 something guys like me that are stuck in a rut and are unfulfilled in life despite having lived a busy ish life. cheers phil
Thanks for your kind words, we are glad you enjoy the show and appreciate the storytelling aspect. It’s always fascinating to dive into guests' backgrounds and see where they’ve come from.🙃
Lindsay comes from the old Commando country training ground, and im sure he'd have seen plenty of Commandos passing through Fort William when he was younger. There was a picture of Lindsays Dad somewhere with his SAS beret on ,and the picture is a cracker,i can only imagine how his Dad felt and what he thought of his youngest son especially when Lindsay tells you he wasnt the one disciplined like his brothers and so he thought he wasnt good enough only to go on and prove everyone wrong in a good way ,may i say!! Im sure his father was a proud man, even proud of his other sons as well Lindsay you're a Scottish legend mate.Clydebank🏴🇬🇧
Wonderful interview, many thanks gents. Phil, it would be great to get Lindsay back on to talk more about neuroscience, psychology, mindset, discovering flow state etc.
Brilliant video Phil, its good to see a couple of blokes with a shared experience talking like a couple of old muckers. Great life story going from one form of elite to another (Body Building) REspect to Lindsey. Another great guest!
totaly agree its about understanding yourself .and once you really start doing that then you really begin to understand other people on a deeper level .know thyself . stay true and own it .
I have say what you bring to the table is sobering. Ordinary people doing extraordinary things. This shows joe blow what an affiable bunch of people you are. . Met Tak, Rusty, Gonzo, Johnny. Now theres an aura you will never get over
What a great intervue lindsay and phill .its 7 in the morning and i cant put this bloody phone down .listening to yous ..so if i feel rough today its yous two to blame 😂
What a bloke eh! Absolutely fantastic. Says it how he sees it. I’d love to sit down with these guys and have a beer. Not talk about SF but just life. Maybe a little bit of SF. But not too much. 😂😂 I really enjoyed this one mate👍
Great Episode Phil. After selection did you return to your parent unit or was it straight into it? Just thinking you leave for selection with the bare minimum you need but if you pass do you have the time to do all that signing off camp bollocks lol?
re the bodybuilding/strength aspect. Muscle on a budget is a few pints of milk and as many eggs as you can afford. I was eating 30 eggs a day (liquid form), for quite a few years. and I built extreme strength.
@@ArthurTugwell It should have read 30 egga a day. This is 210grams of protein. Pint of milk = 20 grams x 4 to 8 pints a day. 4 family yoghurts were also part of my diet. I ate very little solid food because I lacked money. I followed this diet from 18yrs to 25 yrs of age. As I got a little older this remanied the base of my diet though it included more solid food as time went on. I was the Junior British Powerlifting Champion in the 90kg weight class when I was I was 20. My best drug free lifts on this diet were 445lbs (202,5kg gym bench press) and 413lbs (187.5kg in competion), - and 285kg squat (narrow leg high bar), plus 285kg deadlift. This wat at 100kg (220lbs weight class in 1981, drug free. I then had several years out of training whilst I pursued buysiness interests. I returned to training in 1988, (used steroids this time), and placed 2nd in the British powerlifting championships in 1989 with an 830 kg total in the 100kg class althugh I only eighed 105kg at that time. My best lifts in 1991 were 360kg squat, (narrow legged high bar), 220kg competition style becch press (235kg gym bench), 340kg deadlift. In 1991 I weighed the full 110kg. I was strong all round because I trained standing shoulder press also. I finished competitive lifting in that year but remained a heavy trainer until very recently.
I hate the superfit guys like Lindsay and the 'pays to be a winner' mantra, haha. It never fking paid for me. Just meant I'd dig out blind every single time, but still come in almost last, completely drained and exhausted. If you've got awesome lung capacity and the physiology to be an elite athlete, then everything is easy. That's genetic.
Another sad podcast that evidences all that is wrong with Britain. So much for silently proud. All the Ex SF types and those currently serving who forever remain silent, their disgust in these podcasts is palatable. The deluded, dislocated individuals pathetically requiring public claim and accreditation, taking part in them have committed the ultimate betrayal, not to Queen/King, Country, Unit or themselves, but their work colleagues, known or unknown, from past, present and future. Anyone can talk about mental health, alternative physical attractions, if so wishing in the public domain, without referencing past employment and breaking silently proud.
Unfortunately upon return to civvy street, there is not an adequate support system for SF operators who have performed at the highest level to serve their country. There is an appetite for the general population to hear the stories these operators have to tell, and more and more badged members are finding that this is way to use their mindset and experience to not only feed themselves, but their families too. Thanks for your comment, although we do not share the sentiment, we appreciate you taking the time to share your opinion which I’m sure isn’t unique, but may be amongst our subscribers ⚔️
As long as they're not giving away trade secrets, they shouod be allowed to talk. What makes me mad is Abdul comes in off the boat, given the credit card and put into a 4/5 star hotel.
