    You're absolutely correct about having a gradual radius first before a tighter radius. I remember when I took transportation in engineering school and proper corners are designed with a spiral first, a constant radius, and then a spiral for entry. This allows to turn the steering wheel gradually as you enter the corner, then during the constant radius you hold the steering wheel steady, and gradually move it to a straight line when you enter the spiral portion upon exit.

    Greg, I just love the track planning video. This could be an on going series of videos about planning and planning how to.

    Most excellent track revision. Just wish it was Carrera track and I would build it. Again, great job.

      Thanks! I'm sure it could be done in Carrera, though not in the same space, and not exactly the same, since Carrera uses 60 degree turns rather tan 45.

      Which program? They all have a slightly different UI, so it's worth trying a variety until you find one that works how you like. Ultimate Racer 3 has a great track planning tool and supports pretty much all the different types of track that exist. I'm using TrackPower, which hasn't been updated in several years.

    All good improvements for a nicer to drive track while keeping the basic design.
    Could consider the big sweepers optional in that even before them the design was still an improvement.

    Greg, great video, to maximize the long straight away, would you consider placing bank turns there coming off the straight?

    • @ggaub
      @ggaub  Год назад +1

      I'm not a fan of high banks, but a mild bank would make sense, and can be quite effective. I usually do flat tracks, for the most part, though.

    Much like you can watch youtube channels of people 'doing' Minecraft, you could do a channel on track building and you'd probably get an audience 😄

    What software do you use to help with track layout design?

    • @ggaub
      @ggaub  Год назад +1

      I'm using a program called TrackPower, but it's no longer available. The best option for Windows users these days is the track designer that's part of Ultimate Racer 3. Find it at uracerweb.org

  • @Carfunmostly

    The software, Ultimate racer 3?

    • @ggaub
      @ggaub  2 года назад +1

      Sorry, no, that's TrackPower, no longer available. I'm used to the interface, so I still use it. Everything I did should be more than possible with UR3, though, which I recommend to people because it's great software.

    I want to build that track, could you please supply a parts list/bill of material so that I can buy the necessary sections of track to add to what I have, or a way to directly contact for that. Thank you in advance!

      I thought I had put a link in the description to the forum, but neither did I do that, nor did I put the plans with stock lists on the forum thread. Both of those oversights have been corrected. Here is the link for your convenience.

      The app I use, TrackPower, is no longer available. It doesn't have any kind of track that wasn't around 10 years ago. Your best bet on Windows these days is found at uracerweb.org
