Honestly I never realized how beautiful the interiors in this game are until this video! The floor reflections in particular are beautiful for a game from 2002. Dare I say some of these rooms even look photorealistic somehow!

Funny how Florida is the only state that changed its name, transitioning from 3D to HD universe.
State of Liberty stayed, San Andreas also stayed.
Even more weirdly enough, both GTA III and GTA SA incorporated fake state names, while GTA VC was the only one that didn't. GTA VC was also published in-between these two, so it's quite a weird design choice.

0:28 Might be worth pointing out that Florida actually got retconned out of existence in the HD GTA universe. In GTA 4, characters still refer to Leonida as "Florida" (Niko in GTA 4 when talking to a serial killer and Al Di Napoli in TBOGT). I don't know about GTA 5, if it has any mentions of Leonida/Florida.

    • @UnityAgainstJewishEvil
      @UnityAgainstJewishEvil 4 месяца назад

Yea I was a little confused by that, because I always remembered Florida still existing until then. The US is even more confusing in Red Dead. It’s hard to say which states exist, and which don’t, because some real ones ARE mentioned.
I love the map/booklet that comes with Red Dead 2, which offers more lore on that alternate version of the US.
Rockstar are so good at creating recognizable, yet unique places in their alternate universes.

They are separate universes. Vice City Florida isn’t the same as Vice City Leonida.
Vice City is explicitly set in Florida, but VI is set in Leonida. It’s a way of differentiating the two universes.

Lets stop pretending Vice City is different from Vice City in GTA 6. The reason they didn't call it Leonida back then is because:
    1. They were alot more laidback with using real world names in the 00s
    2. They hadn't thought of the name yet.
If it helps, we can just retcon the 2002 incarnation in our heads and replace Florida with the new name, because that's all this really is - a retcon of a state name.
The idea of the 3D/HD universe has been blown apart many times already by this point.
If there are zero references to 80s Vice, zero call backs to Tommy's story and zero similarities between locations come 2025 - then i'll eat my words.
But as we know from V, this is unlikely. It is the same city, just 40 years later and on a better engine.
    We're going home boys.

It is different from Vice City Florida, because it’s set in a different universe. This is something Rockstar has confirmed many times.
It is not the same city, and will have some different locations.
Other locations like Escobar International don’t exist in VI.
They are not the same city. Not in the slightest.

People like you who, despite the overwhelmingly obvious evidence, really believe they are the same cities in the same universes baffle me. Also, why do you cling onto this so hard? What does it matter that they're different? If they were the same that'd be the most ridiculous and immersion breaking thing ever. No one in their right mind would want that

While I agree they are separate in terms of 'universe' I also agree the change of state name doesn't make Vice City somehow set in a different location. Vice City in all cases is GTA version of Miami, Florida. They just decided to give Florida an in-world name now to be more consistent.
My theory on why they kept the name of Florida so long is it conjures the atmosphere of the place they describe more easily, but you could also argue that they only really renamed the cities, buildings and streets at first until GTA San Andreas where they reused the name they had for San Francisco in GTA1 as a state name. Maybe they did this because they had 3 cities, or maybe they did this because the real versions of those 3 cities span 2 separate real states.
At least they haven't renamed America yet.

When you say next year we will be heading to a new vice city you must mean 2026 at the earliest and most likely 2027. Aren't you supposed to be a GTA expert? You know how this goes man. They are always delayed by at least a year ever since San Andreas.
