ASTERISM are planning to do an overseas tour next year.
Miyu, the bassist, is a big fan of football and Tour de France, so it was easy for me to sold him Paris: the final stage of Tour de France near the Arc de Triomphe, PSG the local team with its stars Messi, Mbappé and Neymar, the baguettes and croissants…
I think they will definitely tour in Europe next year 😁

They are HAL-CA (Haruka) Guitar 20 yrs old as of this November, Miyu, Bass, 20 yrs old and Mio, Drums 23 yrs old. Mio and Miyu are brothers. They met in 2014 at a festival for young musicians. They started a RUclips channel in 2015. One of the earliest videos is of them performing their original song "155". The bass is a 7-String custom from ESP. HAL-CA has used a Yamaha Pacifica for years but recently has started using an ESP. They started out doing both covers (Metallica, Judas Priest) and originals on their 1st two EPs in 2017 and on their 1st album, Ignition, (2018) they had Bootsy Collins producing and Buckethead on guitar on a couple of the songs. Then they moved to to a more progressive metal sound with Guernica (EP. 2020)) and Guernica+A (2nd album 2021 added songs to the EP) and finally the 3rd album Animetics (2022) which are metalized covers of anime songs. This song "Unravel" is from that album, it is the theme of the anime "Tokyo Ghoul". While primarily an instrumental band, they have had guest vocalists and this year HAL-CA has sung in some live performances. I strongly suggest checking out "Gunfire" from the Guernica+A album. That entire album is brilliant.

The bass is a 7 string esp custom model, and it is specially made for him. It is not sold on the market. They are very young musicians, but their skills have reached the top ranks already. I hope you will check out more of their music

Absolutely need to go back and watch their video for Rising Moon. When watching, keep in mind that they're all aged 15-17 at the time it was recorded.
And, Miyu usually plays an eight string bass, but I think the one in the video is a seven.

Sorry, but no, "only" 7 string is his main instrument 🙂
He also plays 4 or 5 string ones on certain songs from time to time.

They are absolutely outstanding, but, believe me or not, you haven't heard even anything closely to what they are capable of if you haven't heard one of their original songs. As this is "just" a cover of an anime opening song.
If you come back to them, do yourself a favor and listen to "Church", "Full throttle" or "Faced/Burned", there are live recordings on their YT channel. Or, of course, their anthem "Dawn".
I'm confident to say, that Haruka is my favorite guitarist worldwide now. That young woman (just turned 20) is incredible. And bassist Miyu is up there with the best, too.

Miyu's my favourite bassist, though writing that might cost me my Band-Maid-fan-card. I love that you just looked at the number of strings on his bass (you were right first time: 7), heard a few seconds of music, and anticipated a lot of what he was going to do.
This one is a cover of an anime intro. Their original stuff is surprisingly mature, given that most of it was written when they were teenagers. If you do another one, I recommend a live performance of Dawn from when Hal-Ca (guitar, pronounced Haruka) was 16. Not on their official channel, but Takako's channel: ruclips.net/video/buQPvINJcA0/видео.html

An amazingly talented and very hard working band. Their songs are all Instrumental Metal (Prog Metal, I'd say, or even Prog Rock along the lines of King Crimson as I hear a lot of Fripp in her guitar work, amongst others - she knows how to use feedback as well as Jimi!) and clearly involve a high class of composition and tons of practice and repetition, repetition, repetition to perform their pieces so smoothly. But they never lack passion and pleasure in their work. There's a group of songs they performed in the studio (called, er, In The Studio) and they're filmed in HD, close-up, with HQ audio and are utterly mesmerising. Try 'Church', for example ( ruclips.net/video/pkiKSBX8JPA/видео.html ) or any of the others and keep being amazed and intrigued! As to whether I think 'Church' is a good song? My comment on it said "I'm 61. I thought I'd heard everything and everyone and nothing would surprise me any more. Then I watched this. Astounding. Sublime. Moving. Brilliant musicianship from everyone. Beautiful." The yoof of today give me hope for the future of music!

Thanks for the reaction and analysis. As others have said this is not really a standout song (although I do really like it) or performance for Asterism. For this song I think the official MV is better than the live performances. Hal-Ca plays two guitar parts in the MV and I think it just sounds better. Believe me that you will be much more impressed by their original work. They are really amazing and I urge you to give some of their other songs (the live in studio performances from Ignition or Gurnica+a albums or some live performances like Dawn, Blaze, or their Guernica+a release performance). Beware that most of their live live stuff is fancam shot and has varying degrees of sound quality.
