What the Hell! My favorite guitarist with my my next generation drummer! You have got to be kidding me, I love both of you . Seriously fan of Saki and Yoyoka . This is the best news I’ve heard since the Budokan’s.
So sorry about your house situation. That is no way to be welcomed to LA!! Hope your living conditions get better soon - so unfair that you have to go through this - of course, life is not fair. Terrible that you have to struggle with gas leak - unacceptable.

My sincere apologies to the Soma family ! I must advise to look for a replacement rental property. Shame on the negligent landlord that will not provide a rental unit with it's utilities in working order. Please look to find a rental house, not an apt. Find a rental house where you can set up your own practice studio. It's better to be outside of the city as the rental's are better, crime is far less and there is room to breathe. I wish I could have offered to help and advise you on how to avoid the problems you have encountered with finding suitable living quarters. I once moved to and lived abroad for several years and was very thankful to have made friends who saved me from many of the very same issues your family is now having to deal with. Whatever price you are paying to rent that apt is too much. I would say that you could rent a decent house with a yard for the same rent your paying for that tiny non-maintained apt, if you look to the suburbs. I live in Riverside between LA and San Diego and have been a landlord in NY for 30 years and it troubled me and gave me shame to see the problems you are encountering. I would be happy to provide advice or answer any questions you may have in hopes of being able to help you be comfortable and safe here in the USA.

Very cool. Welcome to Los Angeles! Its a great city to live in. You will love it here. Sorry to hear about your troubles moving into your house. At least you found Marukai :P Mitsuwa market at Bundy and Venice Blvd is a great market also.
What do you figure? They are off some gully off Mulholland? Some wrong turn on Woodrow Wilson? 100 year old house not lived in (by humans) for 3 years? What could go wrong? I guess Oak town was like the burnishing. Hope Yoyo has fun and stays focused on drums and not LA. A lot of artists have lost the plot in LA because it's very easy to be distracted. Also, LA is not "LA" as far as music any more, (well Music biz ain't anymore) the Strip ain't the Strip, the boulevard is Disney safe... but the Baked Potato; if Yo can crack the jazz fusion crowd I think she would have more fun than aping metal. I live about a mile away, I would love to catch her there someday. 🎸

@@cuda426hemi Only knowing her through YouYube 😀I think she is doing great so far navigating her craft. The young people i know that have been successful in their careers here (not music) seem to have had a natural talent and passion for what they do but were constantly working at it to get better and better. They also seemed to posses a sort of adult like decision making process that helped them avoid a lot of the problems that kill peoples careers here early. Her parents are probably a major factor helping her through this and i hope they continue to stay engaged with their kids. I have a feeling they certainly will.
Im hardly the most qualified person to judge the industry, but i ahve known some artists and musicians. I think the music industry is alive and well in Los Angeles. I just think the internet has changed the way it looks. I dont think the club scene is as big of a factor as it was at one time. Even so its probably a great place to collaborate and just have fun and get some live playing experience. Now i think whats probably more important is networking with other talented musicians and collaborating with them as much as possible. I think the club scene has probably moved more to private studios and garages where musicians are still doing amazing things. Look at her collaboration with Ken Okada. Fantastic, and she is still what, only 15? I have a hard time believing she will only stay in Los Angeles throughout her career though.
Anyways, Im very excited for her and her brother. It seems like they are on the right track. I think this video was shot over a year ago so im sure they have settled in by now and hopefully are enjoying that house. Could be the discovery of the century. A house like that in a nice neighborhood? I'd live without water and gas for a week or two to have something like that, that i could afford!
