My HUGE Cloth Pad & RUMPS Stash: Part 1

- This video features the first part of my cloth pad & RUMPS stash.
UPDATE:
Hi All! I'm going to address this because I've seen it come up in the comments section a couple of times now and even though I do discuss it at the end of the second part of this video I thought it would be helpful to add it here as well.
YES, I have far more cloth pads than any one person would need for one cycle, I discuss this many times throughout my videos but I will explain here as well. My cloth pads are a collection, a far more functional collection than anything else I collect. The best analogy I can give for why some of us have large stashes is to liken them to underwear, the most closely related article of clothing. If you were doing laundry every week, you would only really NEED 7 pairs of underwear, or maybe 10 at the most, but I'm guessing that most of us have at least double this amount. You can go to any mall and find at least one store dedicated purely to selling underwear, so I guessing most of us have far more than we actually need.
But there are also benefits to having a large cloth pad stash (if you can make one or afford to buy one). Having a large stash lengthens the length of time you will have your pads. Of course, just like any other item of clothing, your pads will eventually get worn out. Their length of use is going to be much shorter if you are using the same handful of pads every cycle.
Lastly, I've been using cloth pads for more than 5 years - so that's the biggest reason why my stash is larger than someone who may be just starting out. I enjoy sewing my pads, which is how I started using them, and will make news ones whenever I am in the mood (or when I get a fabric that I must have in pad form lol). I also like a lot of different shapes and styles, much like you would like to wear a different pair of underwear one day based on your mood, same goes for cloth pads. And of course, I love supporting the many awesome women who make pads. If you've seen my unboxing videos you will likely already know this one ;)
Any other q's, please feel free to ask in the comments below.
I honestly have been feeling guilty about ordering so many pads on Etsy but I don't feel guilty anymore ☺
Ok!
Yeah I'll probably end up with a big collection myself lol 😆 like I do with cups disc period underwear lol 😂 I hsb issues of having alot of something lol 😂
Wow! I only own 9 cloth pads. I hand stitched them on my own. I am slowly learning how to use a sewing machine.
I recently started sewing my own. Learn to use your sewing machine, it is so easy and makes sewing them a breeze. 😘
Agreed. Who cares if they look ugly, so long as they work
So many.. I don't really see a point of having so many once one of the reasons to have them is bring ecological.. But anyway, you will have it for your whole life, also each person has their preferences! They are beautiful by the way!
This would make me so excited to be on my period!
This is one of those weird collections where you want to show off all the cute fabric/designs but not everyone is gonna appreciate it.
I love the kawaii and Alice in wonderland once’s in your collection.
You probably have the most beautiful collection I've ever seen! :)
+Glenda Sotolongo Thanks Glenda! I adore my stash, it really makes such a difference in the way I spend 25% of my life lol :)
Charmed Cycle how much did they all cost
Ever since I transitioned to cloth pads I’ve been addicted to ordering them they are so many cute prints I can’t help it
Once you shop, you can't stop...
I'm on my fourth day of using cloth pads. I bought a pack of six 10" pads (brand is LoveMy bought off Amazon for like $16 and they came with a storage bag but it's not a wet/dry bag). I have a secret. It helps that my periods only last 5 days with days 1 and 5 being very light and only spotting). My secret is something I started doing as a kid when I first started my cycle, I just came up with this on my own. Every time I use the bathroom during my period, I take some toilet paper (maybe a few squares depending on the thickness) or a facial tissue and fold it up and gently place it between my labia. So that catches the majority of the blood and tissue and then it drops in the toilet the next time I use the bathroom. So clots never end up on my pads and a pad lasts me 24 hours and I never leak through. Now I have a decently mild flow. So not everyone would get away with one pad per day. But it makes it to where I only use five pads for each period. Before I take my shower I take the pad off and rinse it out as much as I can and then ring it out and let it air dry (I live by myself so no one sees them). I'll launder them in my next load of laundry so we'll see how they wash up. After rinsing them in cold water there's just like pinkish discoloration where the blood was so hopefully that'll come out all the way. But anyway. That's my story! 😁
Love love love the wet bag that hangs in the bathroom!
I can get why women end up with more than they need but this is A LOT MORE. I think for some women it starts to become a hobby. Reusables are better for the environment, but when you are having deliveries every week for years this has got to add up to a lot of waste. It's not a weird collection when you consider that people collect things like beer mats and dead insects. I have 15 pads and 8 panty liners. I will get some more. Not this many. It's interesting to see other people's collections though.
Isn't the purpose of cloth pad for you to have less and reuse them over and over? Kinda losing the point here.
Yes
Lol
Maybe she's less concerned about minimalism and more concerned about the crap they put in disposables and trying to keep disposables out of landfills.
Yes I thought the same
It’s a little extreme
Yes but she does review and try out different ones for her channel in order for us to see what there is out there before we purchase to see what we feel what might work for us better. Also it’s very easy to fall down the rabbit hole of cute prints. With pads or cloth diapers. Trust me I know... also I know her stash is way under what a woman goes through in disposables in just one year of use. Her stash may be extreme for most but that’s ok. It doesn’t mean you have to have the same amount. You get what works for you. 😊
I lost my shit when I saw the Usagi-Chan pad 😊 Beautiful collection, and thank you for sharing with everyone online, myself included! 💗 Some get it and others don't, and that's okay.
I'm sewing my first cloth pads right now and I'm so inspired to go on! I never used cloth pads before, but making them myself makes them perfect for my body and period. I made a list which kinds and how many pads I will need and I try to sew them within the following days
I squealed a little when this came up in my feed. I love cloth pad stashes!
+printer friendly Glad you enjoyed it! The pad stash vids are my favorite too, which is why I was so determined to film one :)
I think you have my favourite collection of pads I've ever seen on RUclips!! I personally gravitate towards pads I think will look quite funny or interesting when it's been used so I have the shark print, a shirtless guy, Alice in wonderland, lions, superheroes etc and I love that you have that similar thought in place with a lot of yours 😂 It certainly stops me from buying too many pads since I'm trying to only buy the amount I need for a cycle and limits what I'll buy 😁
+Nadia Ali Thanks! I have a serious print addiction when it comes to my csp lol
I don't recommend putting peroxide in a clear bottle, I heard it makes it lose it's effectiveness. It should be kept in a dark/light-proof bottle :)
It's kept in a travel wetbag in my purse, so it's not exposed to light. Plus, it's only in there for a few days during my cycle :)
+Charmed Cycle I was totally wondering about that. Thank you!
I love your pad stash!! it's goals!!
amazing collection and so organized! I have pad envy now, lol!!!
The cuteness and the amount of pads in this video truly overwhel me ☺️💕
I only have 21 pads and felt guilty about just THINKING about possibly getting 7 more. Lol😅
Wow! I only have 2 Me Luna cups, 1 overnight from party in my pants, 5 regular pads and 5 pantyliners. Very interesting video. ;)
Cristina V That's all you need. Some ppl get sucked into the pretty prints & order them as collector's items more than as functional items. I've been guilty of filling up my etsy cart only to go back a week later & empty my cart bc I've gotta be a realist. If my budget would allow it, I'd buy a few cute ones just for the heck of it.
Cristina V thank you! I only own 9 cloth pads! I primarily use a menstrual cup.
I made about twenty five pads and that's my stash lol. when they wear out I'll make some more.
totally get your point about interchanging pads to lats longer. I'm a newbie 1st month of cloth and I can already see ill need more to keep wearing them all longer.otherwise may find they were out in 2 years instead of say 5
I do have my favorites that I use pretty regularly and this is a constant fear of mine...which is why I've started buying back-ups lol.
Seeing your collection inspires me to have one.. 😘😘😘
I've watched this video over five times and just LOVE your stash!
Wow! What a collection! Very nicely organized!
Love your stash!! I only have enough for one draw. Its getting packed though, lol. We have matching Frida pads.
+MsCarter90 Awesome! I love Frida (and that pad!) so much :)
You make menstruation look so fun!
Right. Its sooo many
I always wondered when menopause kicks in what do you do with all those pads? I can't imagine giving them away?
5:31 WHERE IS THE SAILOR MOON PAD FROM OML :")
IKR? I NEED a Sailor Moon one.
+GoldenPuppy1O1 This exposed core is from A Splendid Story. She can be found on facebook and she also has her own website :)
+Charmed Cycle thank you
I was like woow I need a sailor moon..
You’re stash is goals bc I just order some pads a couple of minutes ago (my first ever time buying from Etsy) but I had 6 pads & a wet bag (2 of them are from 2 different stores & the rest are from one store).
Wow😍😘😍😍😍just started my cloth pad journey but i do cloth diaper my infant son first time mom n that is amazing so since cloth diapering is so amazing i decided to go all the way
Does anybody need this many :O I mean, even if you used 5/day + 2/night over 7 days, it's just 47. And you are going to wash them sooner than after 7 days..? But some of the styles look nice :)
+TubeKettu I guess it's just a passion for some people. They might not need them all, but it can be a want. Like me and my obsessive book buying, haha :)
Chelsea Bee Books Yea, I guess. Though wouldn't there be something more reasonable to collect than pads :D Anyhow, I was just curious as I haven't used cloth pads myself and I was wondering if you really need this many!
+TubeKettu Please see my response to this question (it's been asked a couple times) in the video description :)
Charmed Cycle Oh thanks, that answered it thoroughly :) Mostly I was just incredulous, as if I started to use cloth pads, should I really have to have such a huge storage for them! Some of them are pretty nice in design :) Yet one thing I didn't understand: how does having more pads make them last longer? Like, they still become finished after same amount of use, you just use them more seldom? Thanks for the reply anyway!
Oh my goodness that's a lot of pads! I don't feel so bad now. I make my own pantyliners, so I don't purchase those, but I am a Lunapad fanatic. Your pads are stunning. Truly. =)
Love your stash! I started using a menstrual cup recently and can't wait to try cloth pads next. Also love the Doctor Who tattoo and pads :D
My cup was my introduction into the reusable world, too! I now have 3 pads and I keep buying more haha.
My cup was my introduction into the reusable world, too! I now have 3 pads and I keep buying more haha.
+Catheleya R Thanks love! Welcome to the club :)
LOVE your collection! But may I ask: How do you remember the size, and who made them all right away when you pull them out like that?!?? I've got an extremely tiny collection in comparison, and would have to think and think, If someone would ask me about any of them.
D. W. Ikr?! I'm thinking the same😅😂
Beautiful cloth pad👍
Why would U need so many??
HarryStyles Wife once you start buying. It's hard to stop 😆
Murlle ItsLit uhhhh cause
Omg its too much!! 😅
It's a hobby. Like a stamp collection.
Obviously so she only has to wash them once a year
I love your organization! I'm a padict as well ☺
Let's see your video
You have the best cloth pad prints!
Thanks! +Vic Cartledge
What was that one pad in the heavy drawer that had flaps of fabric sticking up?? Very nice stash btw. I just started using cloth pads and I absolutely love them :)
+Kristen Gibson I think you're referring to the vagina pad? The "labia" on it acts as an interlabial pad / extra absorption. I have an unboxing vid for them (I have 2). They are from Thrifty Momma :)
Wow very organized!!
Can you please tell me what company makes the pink pad that is in your heavy drawer 5:35 all the way to the right of the drawer? I have never seen one like that before. Thanks for the videos!
New beginner Cups and cloth 💙💙💙
YOUR FANDOM TATS ARE AWESOME
+kasey ryan Thanks sweets!
interlabial pads intrigue me. are they mainly used for gushing flows?
+LittleRedDuck They are awesome, I wish I had started using them years ago. Yes, they work great for a gushy flow, but can also be used to direct flow and on their own on spotting or light days.
@@charmedcycle7555 I'm still confused. Do you have an Etsy shop btw?
I have come to far. what is this hoarding "period products". I have a box by the toilet for my stuff...this is a little extreme lol
i like your collection and the one s that you made are very pretty too. you could start a shop if you dont already have one.
hey! great stash!! beautiful selections!
where did you get your storage box on top and the drawer storage as well?
very organized and we'll planned!!
The storage container was purchased from walmart.ca (it's the sterilte brand) & the box for my accessories was purchased from winners or michaels...can't remember which, but they both sell them.
I am new to reusables and I one day want a collection like yours!
Welcome to the club Gini!
Wow that's alot! Nice!
Good LORD! I have 6 and those gets me through the period. Why so many?
I need that Sailor Moon pad.
5:24 what's the one on the far right with the little flaps sewn on it? Never seen one like that.
Where do you purchase your clothes from? I know this is an old video but I’ve been looking on Etsy but can’t find the cute prints like you have
can u pleaase chech me on +255675247508
I got my first 15 pairs of cloth pads coming and more period underwear ill pair them with i got my hello period disc coming to my goal is to give up all throw out pads even organic ones just have my cups disc period underwear and cloth pads
Where did you get the heavy pink shark pad? I love it!!
+Ashton Bryson That one is from Creationsby5
Thanks
Wow that's a lot!
I don’t know if you will actually see this but do you have an Etsy shop or anywhere you sell them or make them
Could you link where you buy from? Please
Love all the tula prints lol
Thanks! I've got more since this filming...so many amazing Tulas!
Yes lol!
They are so clean and in stained do you have a cleaning video
Hi there, just learned about menstrual cup and cloth path few days ago and I'm in my late 30's! LOL I have a question, for overnight use on moderate to heavy flow, do you still use the cup or the cloth pad? And why? Thank you!
+Lil Mini Shlomit I sometimes just use pads and sometimes use a cup with a pad back-up. It really depends on my mood that night lol. The nice thing about cloth pads is there is no right or wrong way to use them. You'll get to know your cycle and your body's needs and you can make decisions that way :) Welcome to the club!
You know, you could use old t-shirts or pants or skirts and give them new life instead of throwing them. I would love to have a bigger stash than it is right now. And I love recycling,so why not having as many cloth pads as you want?
I have been disgusted with disposables for a long time- they get thinner every couple times I have to buy them! The maxi-flow pads feel thin as liners to me now & they are supposed to last 10-hours! I flood every day after 2-3 & it is getting to be more than enough! I am going to use a stack of old work shirts & just see how many I can make- I don't know if it is ironic or terrifying but they are all solid red so I would have no other use for them anyway!
I'm interested to see an update! Cloth pad stash: a year later. It's probably grown quite a bit :D
I would love to see you do a sewing video. Pppllleeeaaassseee😁😁😁
It's on the list Lizy :) But it's a big undertaking so it may not be until the kiddos are back in school. Have you got plans to do a sewing vid? You've got some nice handmade ones too!
I'm with you...haha...it takes some seroius planning. The SO likes to make noise in the back...Ugh. I have to plan when the house is empty.
Did you ever get your cupcake sundae pad?? I just ordered my first custom sundae pad today!! When I was browsing through her fabric selections, I saw that she has a cupcake print and I immediately thought of this video!
I haven't! But now that you've reminded me I wanted one I may have to stalk for her next customs opening >.< lol
Her next customs opening is on the 29th of this month at 8pm CST!
Yep, I'm in her group too :) The problem is remember and catching it when it opens right away lol.
How do u use the rubber things in a bad and the rubber circle with plastic on it
Thank you what about bladder control pads
so you're set for life haha
your stash is amazing! what is the name of your pink pad at 5:36 on the far right side? thanks!
The pad on the farthest right is a vagina pad made by Thrifty Momma Creations. I also did an unboxing for them and show them in the part 2 to this vid :)
I can’t find any info on Figley’s other than here. Are they still in business?
Is it possible you mean Fig Leaves Pads? She has an Etsy shop and a FB group but she's been on a break since March 2018.
Can you list or direct me to the list of companies/people you use/like.
Where can I get one them wetbags that hang from the toilet paper roll
Must be nice to be able to afford such a massive stash of cloth pads....
you have an amazing collection, but i wonder how much time this consumes of you. the balance of what one wants and needs might be hard to see. i hope you don't take this comment in a bad way, but instead as an incentive to question yourself .
But why do you need so many?
What if . Your period is heavy .do you think is the blood going to still go threw
Mine is heavy and I don't bleed through
Where do you get them
I just got more lol xl and small lol
Why dont u post anymore?
I'm sorry...but is that a sponge use as a tampon?
Yeah, they are meant to be good :)
+Mily Alvarez Yep, it's a natural sea sponge and they have been used as a tampon alternative for years. The ones I use are purchased for this specific use, so they have been thoroughly clean and can be serialized :)
Im having a hard time finding a company that sells wicking jersey pads. any ideas?
I would recommend Phoenix Rising Reusables on etsy. I have a couple from her since this video that are great and I know she has a few different colorways.
How is it that these don't leak??
They have an absorbent core, and typically the backing is water resistant.
I have no clue what i just watched.its.like a brand new period World😂😂 all the stuff shes talking about i only know of the stain removal sticks cus i make.those. but all.those "equipment m accessories".im lost to
Hi what cloth pad would you prefer for a 12 year old and where do you buy these cloth pads at ?😊
Hi. A good source of information for teens comes from this young woman who covers just about every question you could ask and more ruclips.net/channel/UC5jJ_1US1DjRYJF_WU4sQ5w She has loads of videos on cloth pads, washing them, buying them, storing them....
I have recently bought some cloth pads for my 15 year old daughter as well as myself. First I would say think about how many she needs and just try a few to start with. I have just bought my daughter 6 and if she looks after them I will get some more. I went on Etsy where pads are made by work from home women but the quality is usually outstanding. Look for sellers who have high ratings. You can get them custom made, so you pick a print, a size and whether you want light (for spotting or pant yliner) regular or heavy. I found that they are bigger than they look on RUclips. If your daughter usually wears regular pads I suggest starting with 9 and 10 inch pads. I would also recommend just getting one or two from a few sellers and trying them out. If you like a seller and their pads you can buy more later. If you buy from a seller not in your country be careful because you might have to pay extra fees and it can get pricy. Just go to Etsy and type in reusable pads and you will be amazed at how many there are and if you are confused just email the seller and ask them some questions, I have found them to be very helpful.
sugarmouse thank you so much 👍
Period mate on Amazon are cheaper and pretty good.
So, I really love the wet bag you made to hang on the toilet paper dispenser... would you consider making them for a paying customer? ;) /wink wink/
I want to throw money atchu, if I can choose my own fabric for it, even better! Let me know? =D
+GwynkyTube Thanks love! But unfortunately I do not intend on making to sell, there's just not enough hours in the day. But I may make a how-to down the road if your interested in trying your hand at one. They are actually not that difficult to make :)
would I have to use a diva cup if I wanna start using cloth pads?
Not at all! Some people just prefer it, I personally can't stand it but I've been using just the cloth pads and I've never had any issues
Okay good I really want to use these I'm kind of excited
Sea sponge tampons don’t feel comfortable at allll
wow 😍
Do you sell some of the ones you make yourself?
I do not sell, but I have plans to do a giveaway coming up and they will be ones I made :)
Very nice channel
Thanks Ayman!
I havnt got my periods yet
Do u sell these ?
She'd be a millionaire.
I just tried to make my first pads tonight. I posted my video. Do you have any ideas for help? Please go comment on my channel on how I can fix them. I'd love your input.
Do you make ones for sale
+Marquitta Taylor Sorry, I'm not a maker. But there are so many great ones out there, they'll have you covered :)
why do you have so many? how many do you actually use in a week?
Hi Nia, I have so many because I want to ;) Plus, they get rotated a lot more than a small stash so will last longer. The number I use per week varies depending on if I am also using one of my cups..
@@charmedcycle7555 you can have how many you want but the point of this pads was to reduce the waste and I think you made more
@@ingridsieber8993 how is she creating more waste if a larger stash lasts much longer than a minimal one? Use your brain
@@No-ef5it you came 3 months later lol
@@ingridsieber8993 and?
U know how bad for the environment fabric production is ? Isnt the point to not ruin the environment with disposable products? Seems silly 5o have hundreds of pads
