I have a ton of corky stem, have seen what I'm sure is caterpillar activity on the leaves, but I've never seen one caterpillar, and I've been looking for years now. Love the senna and the sulphurs it brings in.
Still 9b here in West Land O Lakes. But the 10a line looks like it’s single digits miles away. My yard has a nature preserve to the North that blocks North wind and large pond nearby, so I have an experiment going with some hygrometers placed outside to see if that microclimate is enough to push me into 10a minimum temps.
St Cloud florida checking in. Napa cabbage, bok choy, red cabbage, romanesco, dino kale and traditional cabbage all doing great. Summer peppers and sweet potatoes still going strong. Trying my hand at romas and beefsteak tomatoes at the moment since the bug warfare is lessoned at the moment. As always everglades and other cherry tomatoes have volunteered themselves from my compost. Lemon cucumbers ,sugarsnaps and zucchini are all starting to spread their vines aswell.
@WildFloridian I saw was super stoked to see u answered it in video! I am going to try it on our next cold snap see if it works.Doubt we will get a freeze thst will go that deep but willing to try. I have 2 patches of it next to my native flower garden and my veggie garden. Want to try everything else before resorting to pesticide
ive been trying a new method to get potting medium for transplants i intend to put into the ground. for step one i recommend finding a out-of-sight spot no one can fall into and maybe planting a tree afterwards -- 1part florida sand (dig away top 3-6in of top soil and grab from a little deeper down, there should be less weed seeds and more likely to be natural substrate) 1part finely sifted bagged mix 1/2 to 1part finely sifted matured charcoal w/ compost mix thoroughly, wet well wait 24 hours I'd like to see if using this sort of sludge as a medium for rooting/growing will help the plants naturalize to the soil instead of starting cuttings/seeds in straight peat moss, coir, water, play-sand or start mix. It's pretty mucky and holds water fairly well (hopefully not too well)
I thought my sister was weird for not liking corkystem passionfruit, but it seems like I'm the weird one for liking it. I planted some earlier this week, so more for the birds and I!
My Tampa area is 10a now. I’m growing vegetables in a Vegega & a GreenStalk this season. So far it’s great! I removed a dead oak tree & decided to setup a new large native flowerbed in my front yard. I gave you a shout out when I went to the 3 native nurseries that you mentioned. I’ve been to the nurseries before, but this time I had a list! 😉 In the last 2 months I’ve added 50 native plants plus 1 native tree!! I appreciate all your knowledge & encouragement. 🤭💚❤
