Been there, did exactly the same thing only I was mad at myself, not laughing. Now I heat up my torch on weeds or whatever, and then use the scalding hot end to just melt the weed barrier.
Tip, you can weigh down your cardboard with an old plastic gallon milk jug that has been cleaned and filled with water. Put a hole in it, and it will keep your cardboard moist.
We don't have big jugs of milk here, but I do have quite the collection of 1.5L PET bottles that just go in the recycling. I'll have to give that a shot as we have very strong wind here (and nowhere to get mulch so far)
I love this wonderfully educated woman who is so willing to put herself on to teach us and is honest about the previous failures that helped her learn, so we can learn. Anne, i love watching you and I totally appreciate you 😊 ❤️
75 days left! This is hilarious. We already had our first frost last week, plus spring frosts into mid-June. My entire growing season this year was about 60 days. Cant wait til I get a green house!
We too experience frosts well into May-June but we still do garden beds in the back yard. Just have to start everything inside and put up with the living-room garden for a bit 😂
last year when I saw that lettuce was $2 a head, I bought seeds and planted them. Almost no growth, (too hot ) this spring I had a great crop of a variety of lettuce due to last year's seeds.

Anne, you are so cute and have such a precious personality!! When you said "there are no mistakes in gardening, only learning opportunities!!" And then stopped to question why you didn't learn the first 30 times, I felt so seen and not alone 🤣 I am notorious for not really learning from my mistakes!! But listen, I recently heard someone say "repeating something over and over and expecting a different result is not the definition of insanity. It's the definition of PRACTICE." I loved that so much!! Hope you do too!
You remind me of Kristin Collier of Collier Connections. She, too, is a lazy gardener and finds joy and well being along with delicious food in her garden!
Swiss chard eating suggestion - I found this delicious garlic & vinegar dressing that I put on my sautéed Swiss chard. Takes away the bitter so my kids will eat it. Same thing with spinach. Vinegar & garlic male all things better. 😂 Love ya! You and Howdy crack me up.
Just found this channel, and 3 videos in I'm In Love🥰 I just inherited 1.5 acres of mostly gardenable land, some Old, Sad Fruit trees a Grape Arbor. Looking good! Envy your long season! Theoretically, I have 2 weeks until the first frost. Actually, it's going to be 26-30C for the next 2 weeks. Probably. Maybe in 10 days it might also crash to 10C. Who knows. I've started almost all the outdoor autumn crops already. I'm hedging my bets, have salads AND a last set of beans!😂😂 Last 3 years, actual frost turns up mid October. A couple of days, then usually gets a bit warmer for a few weeks. Kills the tomatoes etc and remindse me to plant garlic.
I absolutely LOVE your channel. I have been watching gardening videos for years and yours is the best EVER. I will be watching your channel exclusively from here on out. Thank you so much for putting your wisdom and humor in the world!!❤😊
Mosquitoes still like me, lol! I plant garlic in fall and harvest in June. I have full bulbs if i plant in good soil. If it's too sandy, they're really small. I've found grocery store garlic works fine.
Haha, love the laid-back vibe of this video! Your tips seriously make gardening seem so much less stressful. 🌱✨ I never thought about letting plants go to seed, that’s genius! Plus, can we talk about how you make Swiss Chard sound so bad yet so good? 😂 Definitely giving that a try! 🌿
Since I always run out of time to grow a lot of things, (pumpkins), I'm trying my own lazy gardening tricks this year: planting pumpkin seeds in the fall so they will germinate in the spring and grow themselves, since I always forget to plant them until its too late. Anything I've noticed reseeding or volunteering, I'm planting now, throughout the late fall and winter, in hopes it will just plant itself whenever its ready next year. Another trick I learned that quirks great: add alfalfa and clover seeds to your animal mashes all winter long. They pass through their gut and get "planted" throughout the pasture all winter in mini compost piles, and overseed your pastures the LAZY WAY!!😂
Girl... you are such an inspiration to soooo many. Beautiful, smart, talented, full of knowledge, growing in wisdom daily and a great momma to all of God's beautiful animals that are under your care. I pray that you know the Lord Jesus so that I can meet you in heaven some day. You are AWESOME! Great videos! My orchard thanks you with the planting and pruning info and the lazy gardening is super! May God continue to bless you in everything you do.❤ Both of you!

I loved this video. I smiled the entire time watching. Yes, I always use a bulb or more of garlic when cooking. I loved the blow torch scene. Priceless. Thank you 😊
Thanks, Anne! This was a great video. One pedantic nitpick I want to make: around 13:30, you said that plants in the Brassica family aren't root crops. There are two reasons this isn't universal. The first is that there isn't a Brassica family! (Laugh.) There's a Brassiceae family and a Brassica genus, though. The second is that there *are* root crops in those places! The Brassiceae plant family includes Brassica oleracea (kale, cabbage, broccoli, etc.), but it also includes root crops like radishes and maca. Meanwhile, the Brassica plant genus, which is within the Brassiceae family, includes not only Brassica oleracea, but also Brassica rapa (broccoli raab, turnip, etc.) and Brassica napus (canola, rutabaga, etc.). I know, I know, I'm being pedantic. But still -- if someone's growing turnips or rutabagas, which are in the Brassica genus, they may want to fertilize them in a way that's optimal for root crops, just like when they plant carrots. ;)
Anne, THANKS was remaining TRUE to SELF, and I LOVE watching what you bring to gardening. Plus, you've validated a lot things in the garden that I've tried with success. Awesome video as usual. Always encouraging me to color outside the lines which isn’t so easy for a born rule follower, lol. Did I miss your video of dilating soil to stop bad weeds?
You are amazing, brilliant and adorable!
I feel exactly as you do about Swiss chard. It looks pretty, but I'd much rather plant a collard, mustard, turnip, beet, lettuce, or some other green.
