Big hits are fun, but so so many of these are blind hits to the head! It’s great to play hard, but so many of these are just sickening... knowing what we know now about the long term damage these hits cause... so many great players have had their careers ended due to head injuries, it’s not good for the game...
Blind side defenseless player hits should be massive suspensions and fines...

The very first rule when learning to play hockey is "keep your head up"! It amazes me when guys are going thru neutral zone looking at their skates. "Hmm, my laces need..{WHAM!}"
When I got the notification for this video I was a little worried as for the first time in a while I wasn't about to strap in for 10+ minutes of savage slugfests. But it must be said that my worry was very misplaced because as usual SVS has produced an absolute HEATER, loved to see that Geno back shoulder in here too absolute banger of a hit right there love to see it

I still can’t believe there was a time where they didn’t wear helmets on the ice. But wore shoulder pads.
This video teaches us many lessons. The one that stands out most to me is: Don’t puck watch. So many of these guys are admiring a pass they just made, or are staring at a teammate with the puck, trying to telepathically request a pass.
What it should teach is to not make blatantly dirty and illegal hits.

Actually for your education: checking players that aren't carrying the puck is illegal. That alone, by your own admission would make most of these illegal. Keep your head up though kid and try to learn to do a little research before you act sassy next time.🤷♂️

Just to be clear, most of these are not violent collisions. They are out and out cheapshots. Elbows to the head , shoulder pad to the ear, etc.
Actually alot are clean hits I'm sure you have never actually played I the sport😂 and as someone who has played all of my childhood and teen years unlike football you can lower your shoulders to hit if you have beef with someone on the ice your probably going to get your head taken off if your not paying attention. Definitely not a game for crybaby complaining sissies😂

I love that for all it looks like a UFC move, Campbell's hit on Umberger was legal. Probably wouldn't get away with it these days. It'd be a five-minute major for giving the puck carrier an oopsie.
These hits are seen so different to me now. So many former players I know suffering from CTE in their 40s. They weren't even pro neither.

I feel bad for Horton on that hit but the bruins were asking for it. Injuring 4 Canucks players in 3 games with dirty plays. You just knew this was coming. As a jets/leafs neutral fan that was the worst officiating I have ever seen in my life. Like to the point it looked deliberately bad. Hopefully the refs learnt their lesson as a good hockey player lost his career. Sad.

The fact that back in the day you would hardly ever see retaliation from the big hits shows a lot how the game has changed. It used to be such a big part that you would retaliate with another big hit. Now if you look at a guy the wrong way, his team jumps you.

lots of clean hits but if you’re knocked out from a hit it’s usually head contact
@@hashtagscooterswagyoloswag7828 there’s a difference between targeting the head and momentum carries head towards hitter’s body when a clean hit is applied, or head contacting the ice when a player falls. We’re watching with the benefit of slow motion, so you can make the argument that 100% of the time there’s “head contact”. But a clean hit is one where the initial point of contact was not the head. That’s why many of these are clean.
