Wow, first time listening to you, you are really informative. I’ve never seen a more knowledgeable individual in my life about fishing boats, and your set up. One day I will be getting me a nice fishing boat hopefully the next year year and a half. And I will definitely be taking your advice. At this moment, I live in a Great Lakes area.
I will say, i have been leaning towards Hewescraft for the last 5 years as my retirement purchase...but after watching this video I am having 2nd thoughts. I'm impressed..
Great Video! Really appreciate the detail and and experience and opinions you share with us. It's really helpful to hear why things are the way they are on fishing boats. Not having a lot of experience I often struggle with they why's and how's of what options to pick when I'm ordering my first and last retirement fishing boat.
Really nice boat for a charter operation but probably not the weekend warrior. With fishing opportunities disappearing in Washington, more guys that have sleeping areas and galleys in their boats are running weekend trips to Neah Bay, Sooke and Pedder Bay , a 4-day trip to Barkley Sound and do Nootka in 6 to 7days. I prefer a boat I can stay on and like you I have Sleep Apnea, but I have a battery powered unit that I can take with me. Since weather can be an issue, we will make last minute trips when a weather window opens. There is a group of us that have 30 to 33' boats fully equipped with a galley, head and sleeping area under not only in the bow but under the dinette. 3 guys can live comfortably for a week and as long as a month (round trip to Sitka). Plenty of elbow room and deck space to fish, sleep and cook meals for 3 or 4 guys. When you split the cost between 3 or 4 guys any trip is affordable. With a freezer in the bilge area running out of ice and food is minimized. It's a PITA to have to tow a boat to a destination and to make a reservation for a place to stay. I actually prefer anchoring up depending on where we are at.
@@wchdb4476 thanks for the time and comment. We build boats with full amenities as well and people overnight on them all the time. What Jon is relaying in this is how he sets his personal boat up and why. It’s his preference and geared towards offshore fishing. In Washington state we tend to run 40-65 Miles offshore for albacore and in over 5000’ of water. There is no place to anchor and stay. It’s turn and run back to port. Neah Bay being similar quite frankly. To each their own as the old saying goes, this is why we are very mailable on our builds.
Loved your tour. I am thinking along the lines of getting one of these 24 foot Raider aluminum fishing boats down around Pensacola FL for gulf fishing, instead of the wildly popular center consoles. Do you have any dealers sown in the Panhandle of Florida?
@@philOKC not a common boat style for down there, dealers mostly focus on center console glass boats. You’re welcome to reach out to us directly, the best email is for the big guy: JonL@RaiderBoats.com
